The thing to remember with digital cameras is that 6 months or 6 years old…the pictures are still going to look the same. If you’re happy with how the photos look, it’s never going to change. Does the m10 have an adjustable diopter? I’m glad to see more UA-cam content from fellow mitten folk
Absolutely, I think the M10 is everything I need in a digital Leica M. They way it renders light is just beautiful. It doesn’t have an adjustable diaper, have to get the crazy expensive add on ones! Hello from the West side!
Hey man just wanted to touch base…I went and jumped off of the deep end of Superior….ordered an M10 late last night. Had to wait until I was really tired so I wouldn’t feel as bad clicking the “buy” button LOL….should get here by Friday. How’s everything on your end? Still getting out for some photos? I can’t recall if the tunnel of trees is close to you, always wanted to get over there and get some photos of the colors
The M11 is the best digital camera Leica has ever made. USB charging is a game changer, the IQ brings your glass to its maximum, and the UI is perfection. That being said. I think M10 is the sweetest sweet spot for digital M bodies. It costs less than *half* and gives 100% the same rangefinder experience. It feels the same. Any shot you can get with an M11 you can get with an M10. Either camera will last a lifetime. Better to start shooting now than always be saving up for the latest and greatest.
I've been contemplating if I'll be upgrading to an M11 this month, fast-forward, my dream camera was the M10 and I think given the situations about the perfection I was looking at it is still not with M11. My M10 still does the job, with its downside that I do still accept up to this day. I guess I was almost swayed by the hype of M11 but then again M10 still shines for me.
@@lukasvanderlende agree, a bit more digital connection would be great and that base plate with better battery. The big pluses are the sensor, internal memory, base ISO are these worth the extra? maybe to most ;-)
I didnt know that the dial in the M6 stops down in the opposite direction. Now I understand why you set up your SL2-S the "wrong" way. I love your videos and think you deserve more subscribers. Keep on the good work and thank you.
Thanks for this review! I just got into the digital Leica world with a M10, after shooting 35mm film for several years with a M3, then M4-P and finally a M6. So far I love the M10 and its simplicity yet professional feel. It is very close to the film Leica camera experience. Only dilemma is to choose between a digital or film Leica when I leave the house!
I’ve only seen and read that between the M11, M10r and the M10 - the M10 is where it’s at. Just better colors with that sensor and it just produces that classic “Leica Look” people are looking for - especially when you use the Leica profile in LR instead of the Adobe one. I’m a Monochrom person, but I AM attracted to the colors this camera produces with proper Summilux glass.
@@lukasvanderlende hit up Henry from there he’s hooked me up on a discount cuz I got it for M-A and M10m, I’m sure if you make a video for them they’d shoot you one for free
I don't understand the distaste of the iso dial. You're not the only one that doesn't like it. From using multiple M's from m8 m9 to 240 I've allways hated having to turn on the camera go into the settings to see what I'm doing. Having the entire exposure triangle in my face before turning on the camera is an absolute plus!
I’ll be honest, at first it felt awkward and kind of stuff to push up. But now I do really enjoy using it. I rarely use my menu system anymore on that camera
I bought an M10 a few months ago and still love it. My Q3 came in and although it’s nice I sort of miss the simplicity of the M10 in a way. I hope the M12 will sport a flip screen like the Q3. (And that they fix the shutter issue with the M11.)
Great video! Would love to hear your take on using an SL2-S vs M10 as an everyday carry (if you could only pick one camera to keep) in various situations, such as landscape, street, family, portrait, etc. Thanks!
That’s tough. If I remove video from the equation my initial reaction is the M10. But I’ll have to put it through it’s paces more to give a better answer! I’ll make a video about that in the future!
Ive had a lot of cameras over the years …. and was always in pursuit of “the perfect camera” trying to find that unicorn that met 100% of my photog wants/needs. No camera got past 90% with always a trade off. Then one day I realized …… what if I just get more than one? And now they all overlap covering 100%. Canon for work. Fuji for fun. Leica for zen. iPhone for forgetting to grab a camera. 😮
Love th M10 myself. I recently changed from M10-P to the Monochrom since i love black and white. But really don't have an interest in the M11. I'll wait for the m12. Use my SL2 for color. Great video, 24Mp is really all you need. and a second battery 😉😂.
Oh man, the amazing monochrome. One day I’ll have a monochrome camera, maybe once I give up on shooting film 🤷♂️ currently on the one battery gang with the M10 because I spent all my money on the back up SL batteries 💀
Thanks for the video. I also bought a silver m10 and I’m still getting used to it. I agree with your first impressions. Your photos look great too. Very natural somehow. What is your favourite lens on the m10?
@@lukasvanderlende I like 35mm generally and something like 75mm for portraits. I don’t have the funds at the moment for a summicron or summilux. So I’m trying a zeiss 35mm 2.8. Let’s see how it goes.
@@lukasvanderlendeHi, the reason I asked is because even though I love the SL2-S I find it somehow heavy, not so much though with Voigtlander manual lenses. Regarding image quality would you say it is the same as the M10, or is the SL2-S with its BSI 'better' ? The M10 used is more expensive than the SL2-S used so I don't want to be unhappy about it if I trade.
Yeah my M6 classic 's viewfinder does flare a bit when shooting into the sun. DAG can replace the internal element with an anti-glare one. But it 's not cheap. Well, none of Leica is cheap anyway. I am still shooting with my ME-240 for digital. It 's a bit chunkier but it costs just slightly more than a brand new Fuji X1-Pro3, plus I could use the Olympus external EVF. I 'll wait for the ME version of the M10 if Leica ever decides to clean up its inventory.
@@lukasvanderlende yeah, I did that for M6. Essentially it's an MP finder's anti flare coating + an extra glass. Everything became sharper even in harsh sunlight especially the patch. I'm glad I'm doing it before I went to Vietnam because I know it's gonna be brutally sunny when I leave in a month.
What kills me on my M10R is the battery life. It is so rediculously short. And I don't understand why. No AF motors to turn, no fast processor. Should last longer than any other camera. But no..

Exactly my thoughts! There are some amazing features on the M11 but at the end of the day I would rather be shooting than waiting!
100%, also the m11 has some teething problems with quality control at the moment - definitely worth letting it mature a little more
Not really convinced paying this for a sony 60MP sensor.

from the m6ttl, the dial is dailing in the direction of the arrow (light meter), that's how it has to be :)

It has 28mm frame lines on it, helpful for framing wide angles
