Walter Kerr's book on the great silent era film comedians, THE SILENT CLOWNS, is absolutely brilliant...

I'd buy it, Steve. He was fascinating. I went and read the Wikipedia article. I bought the same book as you exhibited for a few pounds from the USA, amazingly the postage was only £7 for two volumes.

President Charles Eliot, a Bostonian intellectual, what's not to like? There are ebooks on the UK's Kindle Store by him and about him. I have already bought his shelf of Classics and am going to look for a biography and a couple of his books as soon as this video ends.

You nailed it with the description of Kenneth Roberts writing. I loved his book "Oliver Wiswell" and have all of his historical fiction books. The book you showed is the last book of his that I still sort of want. (no, not asking for it from you :)) Enjoy your Brattle hauls since you always find something of interest.

Hello again, Erasmus! And hello Fuschia Dunlop! (You did say recently that you wished to be called "Fuschia Dunlop" after reviewing her recent cookery book.) There's something pleasingly surreal about your nonchalent comment on covering Henry VIII with plastic and putting him in your little book room. I'm sure some of his wives would have loved to do that if plastic had been invented in time.
