Phew! Thanks for qualifying your opinion on the "Canon" at the end of the video. I'm an older woman of color, born in a colony and am ONLY NOW acquainting myself with the wealth of our own canon, in our own language, as well as in English. (Not to mention reading the previous invader's canon.... 😕) As a matter of fact, I just finished a novel that I am SURE will be included in our nation's list of "classics" when my grandkids are elders themselves. Oh well, back to Sherlock and Shaketube... (I LOVED the mini-series "I, Claudius")
What a great stack of books in this haul. I can't believe that you found the Tarzan Books! (after just talking about needing them for your collection.) I have to track down "Freedom At Midnight." Thank you for sharing your day.
I read The Last Plantagenets recently, I was pleasantly surprised how readable it was. I bought it several years ago at a used book sale, and I had to re-enforce the dust jacket-I used your packaging tape method for it!
I had the BBC version of Robert Graves series and read it into tatters. I recently found a Modern Library hardbound set which should carry me through the rest of my days.
I've read and loved I, Claudius but I have yet to read the sequel or watch the miniseries. Because there are so many characters in the first book though, I think I will reread I, Claudius before reading Claudius, the God.
Well, if you find all the episodes let me know. I can't even find the first one on UA-cam. But I'll keep looking. I've heard so many good things about it.
Why do you have three Moby-Dick editions in the background? Are we reading it in November? Is that the title that you teasers were not kind enough to tell me?
No, I wouldn't dare allow you to rob me the fun of digging for hours at the brattle! Hehe, your offer warms my heart though, genuine generosity isn't easy to come across these days. Thanks for all you do Steve!
Hah! I sometimes do buy books from inside the store itself, but I confess, I spend most of my time and attention on the bounteous outside carts. I've loved the wild random-chance element of the bargain lot; I usually search online only for specific requests from others.

Omg! Those conan paperbacks are BEAUTIFUL! They look in perfect shape! Super jealous. 😁

An octopus, a whale, a penguin and an elephant walk into a library.

I've now reinforced mine, so it's good for years!

Boston is going to become a honeymoon destination for book nerds because of your love of the Brattle.
We now need the Steve book called Good Reading.
All of those honeymooning sweethearts must also come to visit Hyde Cottage!
Steve Donoghue You need to set up a B&B for book lovers. What's the best book you've read about Irish History?
Hah! "Best book about Irish history" is just a TOUCH on the vague side, isn't it?
I've read and loved I, Claudius but I have yet to read the sequel or watch the miniseries. Because there are so many characters in the first book though, I think I will reread I, Claudius before reading Claudius, the God.
YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MINISERIES????????
No :( Unfortunately, it is not available on Netflix, so I will need to purchase it in a CD format.
YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MINISERIES???????? Simply watch the episodes right here on UA-cam! Find the first episode and START RIGHT NOW!
Well, if you find all the episodes let me know. I can't even find the first one on UA-cam. But I'll keep looking. I've heard so many good things about it.
Wait. I found something. Starting to watch it now.
I love those Franzetta covers!
I love Team of Rivals! It's one of my favorite books that I've read this year. I can't wait to read her other books.
Don't miss 'The Bully Pulpit' - WHAT a book!
I won't! I'm planning to read it after I've finished Edmund Morris's three-volume biography of Theodore Roosevelt. :)

Moby-Dick editions in the background? I have NO IDEA what you're talking about!
>>races to Boston to get the rest of the Conan books for my partner
Hah! No need to race to Boston! Shall I get them for you, if they're still around?
No, I wouldn't dare allow you to rob me the fun of digging for hours at the brattle! Hehe, your offer warms my heart though, genuine generosity isn't easy to come across these days. Thanks for all you do Steve!
Lol is it bad I want the version of I Claudius with breasts on the cover just so I can read it in public and get weird stares?
I notice that in all your Brattle videos, you only mention the bargain carts. Do you ever buy anything in the store? If not, why?
