  • What happens when an Alpine Butterfly has only one strand loaded?
Several different ropes: stiff, supple, new, old, skinny.

It was very unsettling to watch the tails being drawn toward the knot. Still, a reassuring vid. Thanks for sharing it, Richard!

Could you test the zeppelin loop?

Would you mind doing a linear force test on an Alpine Butterfly holding and not holding weight? EG. Load reduction of the rope with force through the Butterfly.
Good content though. Handy information to have for strengthening knot selection knowledge.

In retrospect, I found your video thoroughly detailing exactly what I wanted. See: ua-cam.com/video/UJ5DjjgDV6Q/v-deo.html for those interested in the same stress tests.
I am sorry to hear about the incident with your friend. Love your content!

I have always been taught to leave a tail of at least 11 x the diameter of the rope. Might make that 15 x ...

None of those were dressed and set properly, makes it a bit pointless.

Well this would be the worst case scenario and they still didn't slip. So I'd say that's very positive.
