Another good use for it is to create a series of loops in order to secure luggage on a backpack, in a trailer or on a sled. This really is a great loop knot. I tie it by (a) twisting the bight twice (two half twists, i.e. 360 degrees, so it's sort of like there's an infinity sign next to the rope), (b) pulling the bight around the rope so it's behind the two crossing points, and then (c) reaching through the space between the crossing points and pulling the bight towards me.

    • @AMC-eq3jr
      @AMC-eq3jr Рік тому

      RagingGeekazoid The Fastest and Easiest is the Snap Method, and can be done in the dark: Using gloves or handling a vertical line - With the right palm facing upward, bring the working end up forming a bight alongside the standing end. With your left hand (thumb facing down), grab the left side of the bight and flip it to the left forming an "X" while taking the bight with your right hand.

    Really great abrasion resistance and though I've never put the Big Game line ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxQ4x31pJVpClzhxzNFeILZYTW7Xbs7ZIF (any poundage) through an official test it always seems to break well above rated poundage. This line stretches a very good amount before it breaks and does well in saltwater too. Not the best line for a spinning reel in my opinion, especially if you're planning on using it for lures only due to it having a bit of memory but still a great line whether filling a spool, using as top shot or strictly for leader line. I've bought a bunch of Big game line in the past and plan on continuing to do so in the future.

    This knot is very useful. I’ve used it for years camping, hiking, securing a load on a truck and around the house for general handyman.

    This knot is a load bearing knot acceptable for use in climbing too, for mid-rope attachment or isolating a damaged section of rope

    I have used this knot for years and never thought about it in the last application of retrieving the rope.
    On top of it, clear instruction, filming, and editing. I'm wondering where you got your ideas of how to create videos for UA-cam. Was it just watching other channels or a Udemy course, etc.?
    Great job and thank you.

      Thx so much. Honestly, I just started in June, bought a camera then, and started making vids.
      I mainly try to just teach in a visual way and imagine how I personally would like to be taught.
      I sit down and script the videos to make sure I’m covering and presenting everything in an easy to understand way.
      Then write down the shots I want to get. And then go film, edit, film more if need be and edit again.
      It’s a big workflow but Im really wanting to make helpful vids at the end of the day - and the helpful comments are so nice to read!

      Using gloves or handling a vertical line you should use the snap method: With the right palm facing upward, bring the working end up forming a bight alongside the standing end. With your left hand, grab the left side of the bight and flip it to the left forming an "X" while taking the bight with your right hand.

    Nice, thanks, I learned a new way of tying it. I had been following whatever diagram I could google, they didn't show this under-over-under method...
    This knot is so far indeed the only new knot I've learned in my adult life. Why didn't they teach this in school... It's so versatile, useful for many adult purposes hehe. Like tying up tomato stalks or adjusting hammock chair height while leaving it easy to untie and adjust.

    That tree-branch trick reminded me of something from a Stephen King book. In Book 3 of his "Dark Tower" series, King has his hero (Roland) get down from a high place by rope, and when one of the others comments that they can't get the rope back, the super-competent Roland wordlessly tugs on the rope and it drops to the ground.
    I wondered for days how that could be done! And now two decades later, here's the answer. 👍
