I never knew there were other hgex kits besides Gundam v2, it looks about the same quality as a early 2000s mg kit in terms of detail and articulation except there is alot of panel lines on it even compared to early pg kits
Excited to see it! I had the NG 1/60 freedom from back in the day before i really cared about customizing or painting and hated it. I could make it work now but one thing that always bothered me about those kits were the wings were always stunted and proportions were off.
This brings back memories I think I had this junior high. But later on I lost one of the antennas and lost interest. Anyways it's definitely not a perfect grade it is however 1:60 scale. If I recall there was also a Wing zero Gundam. But I didn't have money for that one. It's definitely showing its age it was released in the late 90s. Feel like you mentioned the sculpt still holds up it's more or less the articulation design. Even the first Master grade Gundam was a single joint elbow. I have a friend that once told me toys are just going to get better and better and it stays true. The model kit these days and how intricate the details design are is light years ahead of what I used to build.
Really interesting kit. I like the proportions, and I look forward to seeing what you do with it. I wish we got a lot more larger scale high grades...closest thing now is probably FM/RE100, but those are pretty limited lines.
Great looking kit! I don't know if it's because the skirt armor is so long, but adding about 5mm of length to the thighs might make the proportions feel a little more modern. 90's kits always had super short thighs for some reason.
Neat. I want the 1/60 shining gundam, but I know it's gonna be a pain to get. I have the 1/60 wing zero hg, and its a beast. A great kit to put lights and electronics in.
Agreed - that head sculpt is damned awesome. It's so modern, and it even beats the MG. The proportions look very good and it beats my HG EX Wing Zero 1/60
thats a neat kit, honestly I say this all the time when I watch your videos, but I had no idea this kit existed! the designs of the panel lines are interesting, very unique compared to a lot of modern designs
This is super wild I had this kit like 10 years ago, it was my first gunpla. Thing started falling apart with age and is currently partially disassembled. How ever. Your LED seems to be different than mine! My kit had an amber LED with the king of hearts emblem in the center
@@vintagegunplathat’s actually a really good price I think. My friend dropped like $165 for his and I don’t see anything below $150. Very detailed kit for an old giant HG.
There were also a couple 1/60 kits in the Hy2m series that were kinda similar in being gosh with a few light up gimmicks. Those came out around the late 90’s or early 2000’s. I remember a Dom and a Gouf
@@seanswader7425Also there were to some other 1/60 figures floating around. Four were MSIA Deluxe: GP01, GP02, Nu, and Sazabi. There were also some figures that were parts assembled on a premade frame like the F91 and Wing.
I did not even know HGEX existed.
The more you know!!! I may do a special video on it!
@@vintagegunpla if you find the time please do, but do not stress yourselve
there are only 3 HG-EX kits in total each 1/60 scale: This one, Shining Gundam, and V2 Gundam.
@reijigamer isn't the also an old 1/60 Wiing Gundam?
@@paulheap1982 yes there is an old no grade 1/60 scale Wing Gundam Zero but that wasn't labeled under the HG-EX brand.
Great idea to replace the polycap elbows with knee joints- genius! Gotta try this with my 1/60 Wing Zero!
I think they should fit more or less! Let me know how it goes!
Damn love this version of the suit it looks so nice and your plan for the modifications sounds great! Can't wait to see the final result!
Just found you channel. It seems PERFECT for watching while i build my own kits. Cant wait to see this one painted up!
Thanks!!
I hope Bandai will reprint all of the old non-PG 1/60 scale kits and start to include MS from series after Gundam 00.

Ahh, 90's big scale kits! Its a sight to behold if you stand it beside HGEX 1/60 Shining Gundam. Though really hard to find one nowadays.
Damn, that is an awesome looking kit that I had no idea existed. the surface detail looks really nice too
The surface detail is insane!
Wow, Impressive. I really want to get one of those 1:60 F91 models, even though they're not HGEXs!!
Fun fact: this kit's TV commercial is incredible, and it's directed by Koichi Kawakita , best known for his effects work on the 90's Godzilla films!
@@JBOboe720 oh wow! I need to track that down
Glad to see you back in here, Ellie 😊 Hope we'll have lot's of uploads, from now on 🙏

I absolutely love this kit. It's a massive statement that screams "I love G Gundam!"
Truer words have never been spoken!
I bought the old 1/60 hg zeta and it was a nightmare since it requires glue. I knew a guy that had the HGEX god gundam, shining and wing gundam 😍.
Really interesting kit. I like the proportions, and I look forward to seeing what you do with it.
I wish we got a lot more larger scale high grades...closest thing now is probably FM/RE100, but those are pretty limited lines.
Yes! I wish they would make modern HG 1/60 kits!!! I love the big scale so much.
up until Gundam 00 Bandai made a HG-esque 1/60 scale kit for every major Gundam Anime series.
Great looking kit! I don't know if it's because the skirt armor is so long, but adding about 5mm of length to the thighs might make the proportions feel a little more modern. 90's kits always had super short thighs for some reason.
That’s true! I think it would be pretty easy to do a thigh mod on this kit as well due to the simple construction.

The shining is not as nice as the god gundam but it's still really cool! I have a video on the shining coming out soon so stay tuned!

This looks really nice. I would love to get one for myself. With the right price of course.

happy you enjoyed the video, and I agree, it's a very unique take on the god gundam!
That LED is so bright I bet you can do a Bat signal type thing with it

That looks so fucking dope!
Amazing video.
Can't wait for the finished product.
Where can I score me one of these

As a Hongkonger, I really miss this kit! Really want to buy one!
Do it! You wont regret it. By far my fav 1/60 in my collection
@vintagegunpla where did you buy it?
@ surugaya!
@vintagegunpla you bought the last one!
@ new ones pop up from time to time! Be on the lookout!
Whoa!!! really old this kit....
This line needs to come back
Great video
How much did this one set you back by? They never reprinted these right?
about $100. I dont think they've been reprinted in a while.
