'What is our consciousness? Are there different levels of consciousness?'
This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

It becomes absurd when thought tries to analyze thoughts, it starts making all sort of weird mysterious structures which only imprison you more and more

@@peyiofea1937 : My best guess is that J is perhaps referring to the energy associated with the very source of being, but I'm not sure if this fits the context. Even "energy" is a human concept, and so essentially a product of thought. Which then potentially implies some complexity to J's point. Like the sort of thing we can intuitively feel, but is difficult to articulate. "I know what time is, but when you ask me, I don't." ~Saint Augustine

Derick & George Bain I hope you are feeling well. If your new understanding has stayed in your life, it is most likely self evidently true. It can be a shock to experience this, but not unusual or something to be concerned about. I have been reading Krishnamurti for many years and find what he says to be self evident when I understand it, which is most of the time. It is like a revelation only because most people don’t understand inner life or being at this depth. Those who do are most fortunate.

Imagining is anther form of thought. Whether there is guru or there is no guru is also another form of thought. Only when there is a total awareness, with our mind and heart, of our thought process, we can be on the first step to go beyond thought - which is pure “ being”.

K answered:that the content is the consciousness and without the content the consciousness as we know it doesn’t exist...
Yes the content can be emptied then what will be there is for you to find out.
    There are no different levels of consciousness. All levels exist in thought and “me center” included in that. Now decide what you want;
    1. Empty the consciousness or
    2. End thought or
    3. End “me center” or
    4. find the energy that has never been wasted or
    5. Gain a different consciousness than what we know today.
    6. Or go beyond all that??
Or maybe do nothing. Just give up the search!! Maybe they are all thought and are fake concepts. And that’s the final insight and the only first and the last step. In the beginning of the question is the End!!

Actually what he is saying is "weaken some neuro pathways and make strong another ones". Because practically his silencing of the memory is selective . It is selective because he does not appear to delete language , colors and so on and so forth . So weaken the suffering or delete it by being one with it . You can be one with it when you see that you are the suffering because the suffering is an event in the brain and the event is electrical impulses and the electrical imoulses are also You. When you see you are the pain then the pain cannot be felt because the pain cannot feel pain . You are the event and not someone appart from it who feels . He is not saying poems or something like that , but just what actually is . He came to this by thinking obviously and that is why I say that his silencing of the mind is selective . He is not brainwashing you into not thinking but he thinks actually what is and he is not in automatic mode , or auto pilot and the beauty of it is that there is nothing mystical in this .But I think as he alsohas said many times, we must be serious about it. If the following happened to you then tha is what he is talking about :
You talk without any control , maybe for somebody and their life and happenings and suddenly you stop and watch and say "what the hell I am talking about " , and this moment brings so much clarity . If you are thinking on some idiotic thing and suddenly you fall and harm your hand , just about everything fades and the whole mind is in that moment . That is really what he is talking about for all his life . By the way that thing with the hand happened to me

Ah! Finally somebody who does not just listens to J. Krishnamurti blindly, but criticizes him!
I disagree though, with your assessment. That what J. Krishnamurti is talking about is _not_ some form of selective activity. On the contrary! Meditation is _any attempt_ to become aware of what is going on in you, _without being selective._ You _consciously_ try to be as _unselective as possible!_ That is the difference between _attention_ and _concentration._ In concentration you are selective. In attention you are unselective.
What J.Krishnamurti then says, is that _if_ you succeed to do this, your brains might enter a state, wherein the division between object and subject becomes conscious, with the result that the thought that controls the body, which is the "I", _disconnects_ while at the same time your brain is fully conscious.
What physiological happens in this state, is that the dominance of one half of the brain over the other - during the day this domination is always there, but it switches from left to right and back again - is lifted, with the result that _both_ halves of the brains control the body _simultaneously!_
When that happens, there also emerges a kind of 'clock', a delta wave, that causes both halves of the brains to be in sync with each other. When somebody claims to be enlightened, I always ask about whether he is aware of this 'wave'. And to be perfectly clear about it, I also ask what the _frequency_ of this wave is, when he compares it with his breathing. Only when he answers these questions in a positive, definite way, I know for certain that he has reached the point from where J.Krishnamurti speaks.

sinzss - not in meditation but in “so called meditation.” He is seeing the attempt to meditate, as opposed to being meditative, as an act of becoming but not being. With that “trying” is divide and conflict. It wastes energy.
So he is not against meditation, he is speaking about the futility of “trying” to meditate. Just let go and meditativeness happens.
If you aren’t totally at ease in body, mind, and feeling, then you are still resisting life.

  • @manaoharsam4211
    @manaoharsam4211 10 місяців тому

    J. Krisnamurti perhaps has not realized that consciousness is not of the mind. Consciousness is of the divine. Yes he is defining it as memory etc.
Also I see how he is limiting his thinking or should I say by clear logic. He says don't use logic, but yet he uses logic to destroy the mental framework.
But I agree with him on a foundation basis of his thinking. But he has not pointed out the real process of ascension of man or woman. Where the person goes towards God hood.
Yes it may sound bizarre to many, because you can be easily be caught in a rut by his teachings. By this I mean don't limit yourself to his teachings.
I am not Christian, but what got me about Jesus was his words of darkness within us.
So many teachers, so many prophets, but instruction sets or seminars don't remove darkness.
I glad to announce the journey never ends. A journey of ascension of man, far beyond Krishnamurti.

  • @konradswart4069
    @konradswart4069 4 роки тому +5

There is a contradiction in this talk.
He begins by stating, that consciousness is equal to its content.
So, it logically follows, that if the brains empty themselves completely from its content, consciousness itself has disappeard.
But if that is so, then it is _very easy_ to eliminate all thoughts and thinking from the brains. In fact, _all of us do it all the time!_
    How?
Just by sleeping, and then falling in a dreamless sleep. Because _then_ *all of the contents of consciousness has disappeared!*
But if that is so, then it _does not require a lot of attentional energy!_
On the contrary! It does not require energy _at all!_
    It requires the exact opposite.
Just lie in bed, and let sleep come over you. At some stage the brain will come into the so-called delta wave state. And then _all thoughts and thinking_ are gone. And _with it_ *all of consciousness is gone!*
Obviously, this is _not_ what J. Krishnamurti meant. He meant to say, that you can empty your mind _completely_ through _total attention!_ That is, being _totally attentive of everything that is going on within you, without having the wish to accomplish anything!_
    Now, is _that_ possible?
    It is!
But you must, before you try it, be _totally clear_ about _one thing!_
Consciousness _is not_ equal to its content. In that J. Krishnamurti is totally wrong.
The content of consciousness _is experience!_
Experience is something totally different from consciousness.
In my dream criticism I already alluded to that. If you go to sleep, and you are dreaming, you experience, _but you are not conscious!_
So consciousness is something different from its content.
But if that is so, when you are awake, and therefore _not_ dreaming, the state of mind you are in is one wherein experience is mixed with consciousness.
In the normal state, this mixture of experience and consciousness is so complete, that you _cannot see_ that _there is_ a difference between experience and consciousness. Therefore you _cannot tell_ which part this mixture is experience, and which part is consciousness.
However, if you can focus _all of your mental energy_ into _attention of everything that is going on in you_ , your brains can go through a transformation, wherein consciousness and its content _are separated_ . In that state of mind _all thought and thinking stops_ , and your mind is in a state wherein there is _only consciousness_ .
_That_ is, what J. Krishnamurti is trying to tell us.

When you have dreamless sleep, brain empties itself. Is that really true. A few times, I have slept with some problem (mathematics), and when I wake up the answer is clear. I have heard that this is not uncommon, If the consciousness is really disappeared as you say, how is this possible?

Just an example for "the content and the consciousness" - Where there is no water then there is no river as well.
So if we remove all the content and the consciousness then there is only awareness. Awareness of being which can focus on the facts. And that's where emotions are left behind. That's where the idea of religion, beliefs, discrimination etc are gone.
That's what I got from his answers.

@@rtos Being conditioned means to be influenced by the experiences to the point that you form an identity in relation to it. Just having the memory, does not mean conditioned. He will obviously talk based on real experiences. That doesn't mean he has a conditioning.

So why do you become sad if he criticizes India?
I mean Somebody in 50 years ago criticizes some past form of religion( Hindu also evolve from 50 years ago ) and you become sad. e.g if I start criticizing a blood cell, Do you still become sad? We're all made of cells but we surely know that we're much more than that, it's exactly the same with religions and cultures
