I’m not Indian nor an expert on Indian food, but I just loves to eat it. I love good food in general. I just want to say I really appreciate these videos. I don’t think the food looks bad. It’s not just the restaurant versus home cooking, she’s also not showing us the final presentation. By the time things are served, they don’t look so liquidy matter how you cook them really, but also with the instant pot as well. Perhaps next time you should cut to the point where you have the table set and the meal being served so people can see how it looks in the end... Also there’s a lot that doesn’t translate to video about the advantages of the instant pot / electric pressure cooker until you have one and you are using it. I think this kind of video is more helpful to people who already have the device, rather then made for to entice people who don’t have it. So I find the complainers to be anti-instant pot people in the first place. In which case, really nobody is forcing you to buy one. But if you have one, this kind of video is a perfect demo of a “hybrid“ cooking that you do with the instant pot that saves so much time and energy. A lot of the rest, like how things smell and texture and the convenience, I’m afraid you have to experience to know. And honestly, if somebody is happy with their way of cooking with a regular pressure cooker or a slow cooker, or oven etc fine. I’m just happy to see Home cooking from all over the world with the instant pot. Thanks to videos like this that I’ve been experimenting a lot With pot in pot cooking and now it’s almost always multitasking in my instant pot even if it is reheating something while I’m making rice or boiling eggs while I’m cooking something else. For those of us who enjoy instant pot cooking, these kinds of videos are very helpful. I Love good food but I usually I am the person who’s working way too much to have time to cook, but this thing has been motivating me to cook more. And every single thing I made has worked out amazing. Thanks videos like this, I was already in the first week of having my instant pot doing pot in pot cooking - that’s how helpful they are, Thank you!
I really like this idea...its time saving, electricity saving, making 3 items to eat...we can do the tadka later on...this is the normal healthy food which we indian eat everyday..... it not always restaurant type one... keep it up.
Thanks for sharing! Just a suggestion - you can set it out for a minute instead of 10 minutes and still can cook it. If you set it out for 10 minutes, it will be over cooked.
Every one who is saying bad cooking must be impulsive eater there they are only noticing the appearance of the food. the fact that she taught saving time and electricity plus healthy meal that didn’t contain bad chemicals in it
Thanks Pri. I really love your recipes. Appreciate your help. I will be soon ordering Duo60. We r family of 2 but i do lots of reheat. My parents are coming soon to visit me. Thank you for your video. I am trying to understand the benefit of the instant pot . We can do the same thing using 3 burners right ? You do have some masala premade as well .. so how is IP a benefit
Hi there. The single biggest benefit of IP is that you can set the timer and walk away, do errands and come back and food is ready and warm. You cannot walk away from the burners. Another thing is that the IP can do many other modes like slow cook, yogurt, rice, beans etc that take the guess work out of how many whistles you need. It times such that your ingredients are well cooked each time. I have many other recipes that show the use of these different modes. Cooking multiple things at once is just one way i show the IP usage. Thanks for watching.
I'm always worried about the gap while placing the stackable pots inside the instant pot. What is the recommended level to place the stackable inserts ? Thanks
@@LifeStyleWithPri Thanks. That was my concern too. Does Saute need more heat than regular cooking? Apparently inner pot seems to be working fine for cooking.
Thanks for your video...Its very good.. can you please post link for those inside stackable containers, I have tried searching on amazon, but couldnt get..TIA
I just love this! thanks so much for doing this video. I went and ordered a pot in pot for my instant pot after I saw this video. Could I ask a question about the rice layer? why did you not seal it with a lid before you set it off to cook? I noticed on other peoples videos they too cook things at the bottom (meats too etc) and just put the rice on top of a trivet in a pot with no lid. Do you want the rice take on the flavour of the potatoes(or whatevers cooking underneath) or does the rice stay white and not take up the liquids/aromas of the cooking underneath?? Thanks once again for a great video! Cheers from Australia!
The rice doesn't absorb any flavor or color of whatever else is cooking at the bottom. You can cover it too. I just leave it open so it doesn't get too mushy and easier to get it out
Since the trivet that came with your original Instant Pot is so high, perhaps you could consider getting a round cake cooling rack, size 8" diameter. They're less than 1/2 " tall. I have seen them on Amazon as well as in department stores.
They are type of tongs called sansi or pakkad. Here is a link to amazon amzn.to/2OMqoOv. You can also find other kitchen links in the description box above or on my amazon storefront. www.amazon.com/shop/lifestylewithpri
Great video, great idea. Are the pans you used for the dal and rice stainless steel tiffin set? You temper the onions, ginger, garlic in a ladle like spoon. Where did you get that?
Abi they are actually cooker inserts. You could use tiffin vessels. The ladle spoon is called tempering pan. All my stuff is from India. I have a inserts haul video with details and links to where you can but stuff

Hello pri , new subbie here. Checked ur instant pot recipes .. Awesome Could you pls m e more of indian recipes, yogurt making , fermenting dosa batter , idlis etc in instant pot, I couldn't find much references for these, thanks and appreciate ur hardwork.
How much water ratio are you using. 2:1 is the ratio. More than that may prevent dal from cooking. Also pressure level should be high. You can also try rice mode. If none of above works, check you valve and ring to make sure pressure is getting built
LifeStyleWithPri to 1 cup of dal I am using 2 cup of water. Yes pressure is building as valve pops up and when I release the pressure the pressure comes out. Have checked the ring it is in its track but loose. May be it is tight during cooking.
How does the food taste in an instant pot? Similar to our regular gas pressure cooker? or does it have a peculiar taste that i notice when i use slow crock pot ?

leaving that Hing bottle like that, grabbing that bottle by hand, and then grabbing other utensil, the area must be filled with that smell of Jung. Doesn't the smell get into your hair and clothes?
It does - depending on what I am cooking but that can happen with any food. Even having food in a restaurant with open kitchen can do that. I don't worry about it too much and I don't step out of the house directly after cooking lot of food.
LifeStyleWithPri After I learned about Hing, I bought it (the sane one I saw you sprinkling) and first tried to transfer the cobtent to another cobtaiber made of glass but ibstead place the whole thing as it came inside a glass jar used for canning.
