    As a part Irish-American I was surprised to see how hostile Dublin was. Don't get me wrong, it's an adorable city and I still love the Irish....but. I had several really aggressive junkies approach me and demand money. I had a few overbearing Cops demand my passport at the Dublin Airport (once while I sleeping waiting for a flight). I had another Dublin resident at the airport intentionally make me miss a flight by taking over 25 minutes to check my bags (pretended to drop items on the floor and very, very slowly pick them up, etc). I'm certainly not gonna let a few isolated instances make me feel ill will about a people, but there were some downtrodden, flat out assholes there. Far more than I encountered in the rest of Europe.

      Is heroin really a bad problem over there? I'm in Richmond, Virginia, USA, and it's been a heroin/opioid epidemic here for years. Curious how it is overseas

    • @SeanP7195
      @SeanP7195 4 роки тому

      @@deejprice3049 It' probably worse in Europe. The Heroin trade runs thru Pakistan , into Iran and then all over Central and Western Europe. Its very lucrative. Also, anytime the people in the EU talk about leaving globalism, the authorities turn a blind eye to the trade and let them flood the streets with it (See Scotland).

      However, Cocaine is a much bigger problem in the US. Also probably due to its proximity of origin.

    • @nickbrennan3389
      @nickbrennan3389 4 роки тому

      @@deejprice3049 it's not as bad as it used to be...heroin hit Dublin in the early 80s....was probably at it's worst in the 90s....I think there was around 15 000 addicts in a city of 1 million people....cocaine is probably the most popular now...ecstasy was massive in the 90s....there is still a big heroin problem, not really opioids in tablet form....prescription drugs like valium, xanax, zimmos are popular

    • @deejprice3049
      @deejprice3049 4 роки тому

      @@nickbrennan3389 yea Xanax is also big over here too. Alot of the massive use of Xanax and opiate (lean, percocet, oxycodone, even heroin) has alot to do with the hip hop culture here. The rap scene has changed since the 90s and 2000s. Now it's all about getting high on pills and syrup unfortunately

    God help any poor soul who is a slave to any drug like heroin, like many, I know quite a few people who have become exactly that, a slave, lives destroyed, it's all very well those who condemn addicts for taking it in the first place, think of it this way, the dealers see them the same, nothing more than walking euro,s, or pounds, never human beings,.

      I think it goes way beyond heroin though and it's staring us right in the face. Covid 19 is showing you just how many people are addicted to alcohol which always seems to slither it's way off the hook despite being responsible for over 3 millions deaths per year. People will invent just about any excuse to avoid the dreaded 'drinking at home on your own' guilt, even if it means desperately throwing together zoom parties. But that desperate urgency to create a guilt free environment come hell or high water tells an entirely unique tale of it's own.
      But hey ho...booze is so ingrained in our society and socially acceptable that people just refuse to acknowledge it's a drug. I know I'm lightly to get backlash for this comment which really only supports my point. People will rush to the defence of booze like their lives depend upon it, because admitting that it is as much a problem as heroin opens up the most inconvenient can of worms.

      how frightfully worthy! you know how to navigate ones inner assholism to the max, and be condescending about a topic in which I'd hazard a guess,that you know nothing.
      the pedanticism is almost physical.
      addiction is a disease.
      this has been known circa 1950/60's, and widely recognised in the medical community for the past few decades.
      here's an example; a case study,if you like.
      someone is in v. bad physical pain,and put on strong opioid painkillrs.
      these are physically addictive after a few days.
      the medication is badly managed,and they aren't properly detoxed/weaned off.
      unable to cope with the pain,or any of that.
      they get heroin, smoke it, it gets rid of the pain most effectively.
      but wait, there's more! and with added euphoria,too, they think, super, all this, and without having to deal with an incompetent "doctor", one much adept in iatrogenic disorder.
      anyway I'm rectorating here myself.
      really, though, you must check that (cringe)worthiness.
      it's easy to put people down, but much more difficult, to build them back up.
