The music was composed by John Powell, I'm playing "Once There Were Dragons", as well as parts of "As Long As He's Safe". I arranged this by ear, so I don't have any sheet music at the moment.

The ending of "as long as he's safe" gets me every. single. time. It just captures the anguish of losing someone you care so deeply about and yet feeling happy that they are happy and free. When I saw this movie, it broke my soul. It teaches such an important lesson; one that a lot of children's movies are afraid to tackle. Sometimes you have to let go of the ones you love most in this world for both of your own goods, but that doesn't mean you love each other any less. And one day what you lose will find its way back to you. Thank you Dreamworks for so many years of this wonderful franchise.

A few years after httyd 1, the original, came out, I started learning piano. By the time httyd 2 came out I was doing my grade 2 exam. In 2017, I started learning romantic flight, the one piece I wanted to play since the start. I had to put it away for my grade 3 piano exam, and forgot all the notes. My grade 3 piano exam is in 3 days. Today, I found the sheet hidden under a pile of books, and decided to try again. As soon as my piano exams are over, I can finally finish my 10 year old dream of being able to play how to train your dragon on the piano.
Even though the series finished, I'll still try, and learn them. :)
Update: I finished the exams a few weeks or so ago and have learnt Romantic Flight. :)

I love all the callbacks to previous themes that Powell put in the Hidden World soundtrack. Can't beat that nostalgic rush of emotion as you hear snippets of Test Drive or Romantic Flight or Flying With Mother interwoven with the new themes. The Dragons trilogy would just not be the same without John Powell's brilliance.
Even the first note is shared with another song, and that one was then stuck in my head.

@@emc246 Flying with Mother interwoven is what gets me every time. It makes me think of Valka and losing her, it makes me think of Stoick and it makes me think of Hiccup saving Toothless from Drago "You're my best friend...", Toothless saving Hiccup and standing up as an alpha. It's such a stirring theme. And then the Hidden World theme...wow. What a theme to end a franchise with. It's brand new, but feels like it carries the soul of every movie within it.

His callbacks in the last music was absolutely marvelous that i started to cry because of the nostalgia!
The emotions that Powell's music brought in each special scene in the movie were explosive throughout the 3 movies

Hearing this song alone, you can’t not appreciate the masterpiece that is Powell’s work through out the franchise.
In the final movies final score he intertwined some of the most memorable soundtracks from the previous movies, ranging from the instant classics that have lived on for years and hopefully will do so for years to come such as Forbidden Friendship and Romantic Flight from the first movie through to the newest additions to the heavenly music that Powell has produced over the past decade, such as Legend Says from the last film.
It kind of makes me sad that the franchise is gone because there will be no more new additions to this magnificent list of blissful music.
In a way you can listen to the soundtracks tell the story with the way the distinct sound associated with certain parts of the films are connected to other parts in the same soundtrack E. G. A sadder version of the music we associate with Hiccup and Toothless bond will let us know that this moment is about their bond being strained in a way they don't want it to be. The third film was so full of this sort of additional storytelling that just sitting and listening to the soundtrack reminds you of them first meeting, of things going wrong, of them overcoming things time and time again in each way they arise, and of the finale with all its powerful heartbreak...
Believe it or not, there's actually a new series exclusively on Hulu that takes place 1300 years after the films, where Dragons return in the present day.
This made me cry😭😭😭😭. Httyd triology is the best. It's been like, more than 10 years(?)!!! Thank you for making this. I love all of your httyd covers. I've been your subscriber for...idk time flies. Your piano skills is incredible as always 💖💖💖

I loved this franchise and I am so happy to have spent my childhood alongside Hiccup, Toothless and the whole of Berk. How To Train Your Dragon will always hold a place in my heart as the very movie that inspired me into the possibilities of animation and character design as a future career choice for me. I'm currently in year 10 and hoping to get work experience in a small animation company in my area. There is too much to say about my gratitude towards Dreamworks and Cressida Cowell for creating memories that will guide me through my lifetime. I can't wait to see what's out there in the hidden world that's ahead of me.

These movies I grew up with and will definitely show my children as they hold themes within them about growing up and letting go. Also the music is some of the best I've ever heard in a movie.
It is probably one of the greatest trilogies of our times - on par with LOTR and the new Apes trilogy.

Beautiful music and fantastic cover! During the last part of the movie I couldn't hold back the tears. It's been almost a decade and I have grown up with these characters and I love them so much. Perfect ending to a fantastic trilogy.

It's sad that this wonderful series is over, but what a blast it has been. I'm still working on learning Romantic Flight. Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time to get beyond the first minute of the left hand.

I grew up with these movies and books, and I watched all the movies with my best friend. My grandma even made us both Toothless costumes to go to the movie (in the movie theater) in. Although we aren't best friends anymore, we are good acquaintances, and she even invited me to go to the last movie with her, which I did. I tried not to cry at the ending, but if you had looked at me, you could catch me wiping away a small, silent tear. What a great movie and book series. It'll be forever in my heart, and I'll think back on it fondly.

I am a new father who has been roughly the same age as Hiccup throughout these movies. The ending to the great trilogy was everything I wanted. It made a grown man cry in public, thank you Dreamworks and thank you John Powell.
