Thank you for joining us on this crazy journey! Our family- Kate and Marius plus our five kids, have always enjoyed living a homemade life whenever possible. Moving 1000 miles north in 2017 to Northern BC, Canada upped our game even more. We live on a 34 acre homestead and get a kick out of things like raising our own meat, dairy and vegetables. Theres plenty of failures, you’ll be sure to see those here too. We’re a homeschooling family who believes life is the best teacher but we do hit the books in winter. Kate one thing I like about your videos is when I watch some channels they apologize for sounds you never actually hear in the background. On your channel, there are always off-screen distractions but you never miss a beat and rarely if ever lose your train of thought. Just as a mother of 5 should be it's real-life here on this channel and I love and appreciate it.

Okay I have to say I’m so relaxed watching you do things so openly and honest! If I was to turn on my camera to clean out my fridge I’d be panicking with worry that someone would call the “fridge police” on me😂 it’s halfway into January and I have holiday “stuff” that seems to miss garbage days🙈🤷🏼‍♀️ anyhow that’s my share of brutal honesty here lol okay one thing I wanna share of you don’t mind, the celery you bought, when you cut the bottoms off keep them and place them in a small pot with whatever soil you can get!! I did that last February and I’m still harvesting celery off of it! I brought it outside in the summer and placed it on my picnic table and brought it back in when I was cleaning up the remainder of garden stuff in October!! I used the celery for stock and some cooking! Very pungent and full of flavour! Anyhow! Happy new year to you and your family!🇨🇦

Just found your channel on my daughters recommendation from Instagram as we’re trying to get more back to the earth as I was taught from my grandpa and grandma! Glad I’m not the only one who has a neglected fridge and forgets to turn the laundry on 😂.

Ouch I can't imagine losing 50 lbs of potatoes. Sorry for your loss! Consider a space heater with thermostat set for just above freezing? Idk if its worth it to you.

My challenge this year is to work through a lot of the frozen veggies in my freezer from last year and my basket full of sweet potatoes.

I love your place, it’s a real working home. Also love your root cellar. I have a 8+8 cold room which works great, even though it has a concrete floor. Holds at fridge temps most of the winter unless we get -30 for a week. Anyways thanks for sharing 🇨🇦🌷
