Yet again, you're tempting me. I know they're basically the same machine, but the screen on the A13 is slightly bigger (10" v 9") and the screen quality looks a lot better on this than on mine - the viewing angles on mine are appalling.

Ordered one today for my birthday. I've been looking for a great retro device to really curate a good selection of games. They took the already well loved by its users A12: G5 Capable System Arcade Quality Stick/Buttons Big Screen HDMI Out USB Inputs And improved it with a clamshell design with removable stick that turned an underrated inexpensive bar top into a versatile retro gaming power house. The evolution of this line from cheap NeoGeo Mini knock off, to well made NeoGeo Mini Knockoff to now wildly surpassing its original inspiration by basically copying old portable DVD player design that is kind of the perfect portable party machine?!?! For. 100. Dollars.

Its great. I don't even know what to say but its kind of a perfect arcade machine for a really great price. The interface is wonky and the game list is weirdly translated, but that's totally fine since I plan to mess around with all of that anyway. Out of the box the thing is a TON of fun, and our family has already played with it together (Simpson Arcade!) and have individually explored the library of games. It just INVITES people to watch and want to play. It is really amazing how much difference the form factor of the A13 makes vs the A12. So much of what I love about the A13 just doesn't apply to the A12 even though they are practically the same device. Its just so much easier to tuck and go to a café, or throw into a backpack, or toss onto a shelf. The screen angle is now is adjustable and its larger and protected when not in use.

Do the L2 and R2 buttons work on it?
I'm looking at adding more mame games on this as its missing some of my favourite games. Does anyone know which version of mame roms I will need to run on this machine?
That things screams out to me stick in a pi4
lol ya man I will be modding it to the max when I finish modding the Arcade 1Up buddy
This or the Super Console X ?
did not know of the console x will check it out
The A13 is portable, has a built in screen.
The Super Console X is mini console with controllets that needs to be plugged into a TV or monitor.
Its also comes installed with Emuelec and can run many more systems so cant really compare those as they are quite different and made for diff purposes.
@@fonzitheman thanks fonzi, I'm no expert but in terms of which one has the most/better games. I don't want to buy both of them.
@@SonicLoveEmulation Thanks

The WORST in gaming history...even things I had 6 years ago have less stutter...and they were much more than just b/w gameboy games.....horrible!!!

This is just a Powkiddy A12. You should check out Johnny Liu's work on the A12's firmware. Maybe it can be done here, too.
