I love when you review these arcades. Nothing ever changes with the handhelds but at least these arcades have small incremental improvements over time. paPOw!!!
For around $200 shipped its a good value for what you get. The 12” screen is a nice size. When you get into 15-17” bartops you are in the $600-800 range usually
@@arcaderacer586 - Oh yeah absolutely, especially considering it has a streetfighter design. It's beautiful. Although, you mind feel difference of quality in hand to be worth the extra price. It's good for a casual yet budget solution.
I bought this one and also the powkiddy a13 at same time...I gave this machine you just reviewed away to my friend because the sound quality was crap but kept the powkiddy a13 because of the great sound and bass 🙏🏽👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I’ve taken it fully apart and your not missing anything exciting. You can add and remove games, edit the names on the menu so they fit correctly and importantly have a permanently working high score on the mame games. All this really needs is an upgrade to the speakers.
When is someone gonna make one of these that can link up with another machine via WiFi for local multiplayer? Would be great to buy two or more to play with some friends.
Too bad they dont sell just the case, thats about all i'd want out of it- then drop in sanwa controls, decent SBC with a SLG and it would be a desktop dream cab.
I subbed you fam thanks for putting the link to buy this product and telling us the price most of tech reviewers doesn’t put link to product cuz they don’t wanna promote product for free and they don’t want their viewer to easily find the products I really hate when reviewers do that
Very high quality review! I'm kind of disappointed from the devs because if you release a product you should at least try it. Clearly the emulation is garbage.
Great review! They can get so close to getting it right, but always mess it up in weird ways. I guess it's good mainly just for the arcade games. Out of the 1000 games, how many are arcade? Thank you Wicked!
Yes I do have some of these game consoles from 🇨🇳 and every time I play TMNT 4 Turtles in Time it always plays so damn slow! But the rest of the Super Nintendo games play great! I don't know why can't they just fix the sound? Instead just have your console come with TMNT the arcade 🎮
For the price maybe it’s actually good, is there an option to send the audio let’s say with the HDMI so the tv connected to it would play it? Maybe also replace the speakers for better ones?
Maeby is a new model, but on the motherboard can be clearly read 2019... So Not all bad news, that also means this arcade still got a lot of improvement pending If It recieves a 2022 motherboard
Really nice device. I bought one used for 55€ here in Germany. I played around a bit with it and found out a really nice feature: When you connect a Xbox 360-pad, start an arcade-game. After loading press the start-button on the Xbox 360-controller and voila, there is the MAME-menu 🙂Here you can set the aspect ratio, resolution and all the things that let the games run better. Now i have an arcade-machine with the right resolution and aspect ratio, not the stretched images, especially from the vertical games 🙂
Can you mod this? This looks like it's 90% of the way there and I would love to put in my own speakers, and hardware. I really like the screen, controls and form factor for the price though
You are the ONLY arcade games enthusiast that I have even seen who seems to tolerate playing with a stretched to hell aspect ratio, or that would ever recommend any device that hasn't the ability to output a 4:3 aspect ratio. I don't understand how this subject could escape your list of cons at the end... While I personally love and respect those games way to much to ever be able to enjoy seeing them completely disfigured like that, to each their own after all, eh!
Yes, really surprising the aspect ratio issue is not discussed at all. It is the first thing i was wondering about when seeing it unpacked and starting.
@@Doman2000 Thanks for the reply man! Those disgusting stretched aspect ratio arcade games were only in the mainstream during the age of retro compilation on the PS2. After that, NOBODY outside of China would ever release a device that cannot display the proper aspect ratio. Some can be modify with a CFW (I worked and release on for the Powkiddy A12, for instance), but most cannot, unless the output is a TV, and you can force a 4:3 ratio on it. I really can't understand how a veteran gamer, who has a channel mostly featuring arcade games, can promote those kind of devices for the past half decade...
maybe adding new speaker... there is not a lot of room there. I was thinking if you get a driver board for the monitor maybe you can slap a pandora in this.
Excellent review! I appreciate the breakdown. Longterm upgrades for this product would be the buttons and the speakers, besides that I think its really good. I wonder if that is some version of a raspberry pi in there?
How does Donkey Kong play? Nobody reviews that on Pandorabox or other China devices. I always find the sound isn't correct on DK. No walking sound. I'm curious if it's fixed on this console. Another great post👍
Its not bad for the price. Would jave been better if it was a 2 player arcade though. Then the mods for it would set it over the top. Sure it probably can be modded, but then you still end up with a one player Barton arcade. Over all, not too bad, but if someone can build their own, spend the little bit more cash and build a better one.
Perhaps if those Chinese bootleggers can focus on improving the MAME emulation & not bother with the other emulators, they may finally roll out a quality product. Maybe. 🙁
Cadillac and Dinosaurs is almost a meme at this point. One of Capcom's best and un-reeleased beat-em-ups but it always somehow appears on every retro game game review/ emulator.
looked very promising at fist, but after seeing how badly it emulates some games... eh nah I'd pass. A shame too, because it seems to emulate mame arcade games alright, which is all I'm really interested in. I've got a decent gaming laptop loaded up with every emulator from the 8 bit, 16bit and 64 bit generations. But for some reason mame has been a program I just havent been able to figure out how to get running correctly. Not sure if its looking for the right roms, or getting the right bios pack, or settings or what. But I've pretty much thrown in the towel, I'd definitely be willing to spend a few hundred bucks on an arcade emulator that is just packed full of mame arcade games that work. Since this thing only comes with 1000 games though and most dont even seem to run well, that just aint for me. I'd like to find a nice middleground between these ultra cheap plastic emulator consoles, and the like 900 dollar custom built bartop machines that have all the best parts and like 30,000 games.
I hate ALL of the Joysticks on these types of devices --- The stem is too long, too high so it's a farther throw. I like the short stubby joysticks like Nintento Caps had
