    Excellent breakdown. A big queue is also to be pointing straight into the pit, which is a byproduct of getting your back to the bar, which is related to the curve you run.

    Arching the back is an illusion, IMHO. What you really want to do is push your hips “forward” when the body is horizontal.
    I learned a neat trick to help you “push” your hips. Point your toes outward like a ballerina as your hips clear the bar.
    It may feel like an awkward body position to release, but all you ave to do is straighten your feet and do a sit-up.

      Try this simple test. Lie on the floor. Now turn your toes outward. What did your hips do?

    I can get my head back on flops, but my hips are another story. Maybe if I incorporate that "hump the air" thought process, it will help. Very useful video.

    I don't know if it was the angle but the girl doing the 3 step approach looked like she was dropping her elbow into the bar.

    I have a good angle at take off and good in air mechanics, but I tend to drop the knee drive quickly and go straight onto my arch right after turning. Any tips for me?

    Hey how to arch my hips? My hips are unable to bend. When I try to bend my hips, my legs become straight. I always hit my ass to the crossbar.

    Hey i want to ask you which is better nike high jump elite or adizero high jump i saw your video ranking them but i love them 2 so can you tell me why the adizero is better than the nike hj elite?

    • @matehj
      @matehj  8 місяців тому +1

      A wider shoe will be better than a thinner shoe because of force distribution when you hit the ground. So while the nike is more stable, noob friendly and better for people with wider feet, the adidas is thinner, higher and more aggressive. You will jump higher in the adidas, even if both fit the same.

      @@matehj oh thank you so much so the adidas has a better plate for jump and nike has better stabilise in resume nike is like for comfort and adidas for results

    whats your favorite drill/exercise to increase single leg hops

    • @matehj
      @matehj  Рік тому +1

      Easy, high jumping! But if you don't got a set around then it would be hoop touches or holm hurdle hops. Tryna be quick with the last 3 steps.

    What would your work outs look like if you didn’t have access to a mat and bar for a month

    • @matehj
      @matehj  Рік тому +1

      In the road to 7 foot video I didn't have access for a month XD. Similar to that, but if it's closer to comp, it would look kinda like sprinting/hurdles day, plyo+ weights day and a long jump/hoop touch day + weights.
      That's a very broad outline. If I don't got a matt the first thing I go to is long jumping and holm hurdle. Very similar stimulus, technique work would go out the window for sure tho.

      AHHHAHAHA @@matehj all jokes aside though, I'm the second video, and that was my form at the time, but now it's gotten much better. Except, it goes back to that when I'm attempting a PR because I don't trust my form to get me over, and I have a bit of a mental block there. Do you have any tips to have consistent form through all heights and get over this mental block?

    • @matehj
      @matehj  11 місяців тому +1

      @@prestonking5281 You should ask the question of why you dont trust that form, does better form actually make you jump higher? It not, you should try to find out why.
      I started being able to get my shoulders back, rather than sitting over the bar initially because my runup became more refined and i rotated over the bar more, meaning i actually jumped higher with an 'arch'. I hope that makes sense. its not an easy one to solve!
