    Have you ever had a dream, when you, when you, when, when you, when you THOUGHT YOU COULD DRIVE A CAR FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES WITHOUT BLOWING UP?! Crying out loud. ANYWAY, huge thank you to ECUMaster, Cory Talaska, Jackson H, Dustin K., Lars V., and the rest of the team for helping me sort out the cause of this fire...We've gotta not only fix the wiring issues now, but also make sure it doesn't happen again BEFORE Road America.
    If anyone has a spare JDM K24, shoot me a message on IG too; I think i'll need one :D

    As my old man would say "Things could always be worse" so at least the car wasnt in a far worse situation. Glad you were able to diagnose and get it back to seeing the track again. Good luck out at RA, from another s2k owner.

      I thought this was cleared up with ASM on IG, since a previously viral reel about the s2k seems to have been taken down? I'm guessing things went south and he didn't want to promote or publicly shame asm. Kinda odd bc i thought g&g was chill with asm

      Nothing was removed and no one is upset with anyone. We’re still sorting it out but we took a look at it and the cable is/was loose!

    you guys in your podcast menttioned something very important. and its procedures in the event something unexpected happens. being able to get in and out of your harnesses is extremely important. practicing like you said seems dumb but in this situation that practice can save a car. i run one extinguisher in my car and already ordered another in the event one simply does not work great tip lars and alex!

      You're right and that's what we do now! We have one in our roll cage as well as the suppression system as well. Fire's are insanely scary and not something I want to deal with again.

    I wouldn't move your catch can coolant reservoir to the back where the battery was. That would be worse as you're putting it close to the hot side of the turbo. In front of the motor would at least be a bit cooler and less of an ignition source

    I only run Ecumaster Black or Megasquirt. Once i run out of inputs/outputs I'll run the EM pro 8. Great choice! They have been super reliable.

    That's great! Oil feed line way better than the alternatives. I was worried about ethanol holding water on the cylinder walls

    Man I wish I caught you guys at gridlife, had a belt shred on highway 8 up north and decided after I fixed it to just chill instead of stopping by Road America lol next year boys 😅

    Any reason why ASM's fire suppression system did not function? Did I miss that in the video.

      We believe there was slack in the system and when pulled, it didn't pull the trigger hard enough. I'm working with them now to fix it but that's what we found when we looked at it ourselves.

    Hey Alex I was looking to buy a grill for my 2018 STI and went to Martiniworks just for the off chance you guys sell them, is there a chance that you add grills or carbon fenders/hoods anytime soon?

    I've only seen all-metal lines for the turbo oil drain on factory turbocharged setups, and usually for the oil feed also. The 'braided stainless' lines shown in your video use rubber or plastic inside to transfer fluid, the stainless helps hold pressure but it doesn't prevent the rubber or plastic from melting or getting weak when it gets above its working temperature. The rubber or plastic inside that section of line will experience oil temperatures hotter than all the other lines, plus the drain line being heated by the hottest parts of the turbocharger and exhaust manifold. Find a fabricator who can build you a drain line from metal, and it should be reliable.

      No the line took out the turbo is now I’m going with a bigger turbo. It’s becoming a snowball effect. I’m changing up going from an oil feed turbo the oil and water turbo. See if that helps keeps it cooler.🤔👍🏽😊

    should use hard lines for turbos not vinyl...
    cant run plastic turbo lines on a race engine, anything within 8 inches that is high temp PVC melts, anything within 13 inches that is vinyl melts, anything within 16 inches that is butynol rubber melts and or smokes. but that's a 2mpg S475 just heat soaking at idle and so goes those same distances for the whole exhaust unless it has an inch thick wrap of fiberglass over all of it. but oh well, half my motor is running an 18 afr to correct one down cylinder... wait till it detects the one missing, then crank the rail from 40psi to 75psi. meh blem blu blm...

      I don't think we can meet those thresholds, but there is more we can do to isolate the heat. We'll be relocating some compartments and trying to cool off the right side of the engine bay!

    You're doing it right Alex.
    I was really concerned when your fire suppression guy suggested having a fire extinguisher in the car.
    I'm really surprised you didn't have a standalone ECU to begin with.
    I guess you were either using a reflash, or a pigfyback controller before.
    Standalone is a must for turboing an NA car. Adding some headers or intake is what the pigfyback stuff and re-flash is for.
    That gauge cluster will be SOOO helpful.
    I'm using an MegaSquirt2 from DIY Autotune because... Miata
    The MS3 is better, but I have an NB. No need to upgrade yet.
    I normally have a serial/USB cable running to a laptop and will log all the ECU data while troubleshooting an issue. Later, I can review the log data in a graph form to see what's happening. Logging is far more important when finding out what's wrong, but live data on gauges is so much better for real-time information when on the track.
    You're going to love this ECU once you get everything dialed in.
    The interface will be information overload though. It'll take you a year of more to get comfortable with everything in the interface.
    Oh, it also looks like you have a GodSpeed turbo. I have one as well. It's a .86A/R T3 with either a 60 or 80mm impeller, I forget which. I'm only pushing 18.6psi, and ~270whp, but could go higher. Just need a pressure plate upgrade. The rest is done already.
