Hi Patton, I added this to your other video on this, so I thought I'd add it here to help! I have been going back and forth between this vid, and some others, as well as taking in advice from lots of comments, and I found the below method to be the simplest. Every video I found seemed to take for granted that the viewer would just know about a couple of steps, such as the need for plugging in the console and switching back and forth between firmwares as you add the HSQS and NAND apps. This method is for Hackchi2 CE 3.5.3, so it may be just a bit different that yours, but it worked for me! SNES Dualboot Directions (This also works in reverse. If you’re modding an NES Classic and adding an SNES HSQS, do the exact same steps, realizing that it is a mirrored process) 1) Load all SNES and NES games that you want to hackchi with all box art. 2) Go to View>Sort By and click System 3) Go to View> Original Games> click At The Top 4) Go to Settings and check Separate Games For Multiboot 5) While running SNES firmware, add the NES HSQS file as a game (You can find these easily online. name it what you want). It should be under SquashFS under Game selection. 6) Load box art of an NES CLASSIC for NES file you just loaded into SNES 7) Make sure all SNES games and the NES HSQS file are checked under Game Selection 8) Plug in SNES Classic and boot it up. Synch selected games. 9) Go to Tools and click Switch Running Firmware to NES System (this is the HSQS file, not the NAND. It is the program for an NES. 10) Your system is now reading as and NES 11) Go to File > Add Custom App. Give the app a name like SNES Classic. This is the folder that when you boot up for system as an NES, it will give you something to click that will reboot your system and take it back to SNES mode. 12) Once this is created, paste this under command line: /bin/hsqs nand 13) Once you do this, that file should now be listed in Game selection beneath /bin/hsqs 14) Add box art for this for an SNES class system. Make sure that this is checked, and all NES games are checked, That all SNES games are UNCHECKED, and importantly, that the NES Classic file (the HSQS you added earlier) is UNCHECKED. 15) Click Synch Selected Games. You have now added to your SNES classic: -New SNES games -an app that when you click is as you run your SNES, will reboot your system as an NES Classic (There will be an original games folder and an Added Games folder. You will find the NES App under Added Games). When you do this, as you navigate through the games of your NES Classic, you will find under that line up of games that you have an SNES App that when clicked reboots your system as your original SNES (Again, there will be an original games folder and an Added Games folder. You will find the SNES App under Added Games). You can now go back and forth between playing both systems on your console!
hi, i just found your solution. I've tried but when i switch to the NES firmware, Hakchi doesn't seem to connect to the mini anymore, I have to reset it to fix it....
This apparently works the other way around too. I just got an NES Classic edition for 80 bucks online used and somebody had already done this. I had several questions but I see it as a bonus cuz I got it for my dad for Christmas. Looks like I got to send it with an SNES controller as well.

So, I just used the easy updater for usb host on a NES CLASSIC MINI and then added SNES GAMES but, I haven't yet synched the NES nor the USB HOST. Would I need to do this to play SNES GAMES on the NES CLASSIC MINI? I just want to be able to go to a folder with a console image (atari, neogeo, or whatever)and be able to select a game for that particular console and start playing a game. I'm converting both of my mini consoles (I have a Nes Classic Mini and a SNES Classic Mini) into Multi-Console Machines. You do not have to do this if you're just looking to play snes games on the NES mini. Just hack the snes with the custom kernal, add the retroarch and snes core, then add whatever snes games you want. Everything can be found at hakchiresources.com

Yeah the newest CE has a glitch that doesn't support this method anymore. A new version is releasing soon and I will get a new vid out as soon as I can.
Absolutely, after you flash add the NES it basically becomes it's own system and shares the same hmods as the snes classic so you don't have to add them again.
Used your exact method works fine. Here's the hickup, all my games are on the usb stick. When using the usb stick the nes classic icon does show up on the main menu. Does the .hsqs file need to be exported along with all of my other games on the usb stick? Also under structure are using custom, automatic? I like to know how your icon shows up after starfox2. Mine will not do that. thanx
Patton Plays Does this still work with Hakchi CE 1.2.5? i am having difficulties installing the NES Firmware. It will just reboot the Snes and go back to original screen instead of loading the Firmware.
I'm having a problem with my dual boot system using hackchi 3.8, locking up after booting. It then requires the usb power to be unplugged. It then boots to which ever hsqs was chosen last. I just wish I could get it to work with out the boot lock up. The boot lock up does not happen consistently. I made the hsqs files from the actual systems, not downloaded. I've tried every possible install scenario with and with out retroarch installed. I've tried the UI mod fix too. The nes mini seems to lock up less than my snes mini for some reason. I guess my only fix is to install an inline usb power rocker switch.
I've bought SNES classic from eBay. Im assuming it has Hackchi CE on it. It boots to a menu where you pick the box art for the NES classic or the SNES classic. When i select either it reboots back to the screen, I then select the 1P folder and there are the stock games for whichever system i selected. I installed HackchiCE; it does let me add more SNES games, but the NES stuff is gone. I then restored the user_data file which put everything back to the way I got it. My question is, I would like to have the same setup (booting to the 2 icons - just feels nice and neat to me) but be able to add more games. I guess this video is what i need to do, but how do I get it so that it boots to the menu where I choose SNES or NES classic?
Looking forward to a new update video because the process seems completely different. Cannot get this method to work. Cant find any instructions with the changes to Hackchi!
Yeah there is a bug in the newest version. An update is coming soon that fixes the bug, so I'm just waiting for that to release then I will update this one.

I had this on my nes mini and just did the new usb program install but when I click the “game” after install from the menu nothing happens. Using same snes “brain” file I used previously. Any idea what I could be missing? Even tried the old way where you use the txt file thing. But nothing.
I know I'm late to the party but I just got an SNES Classic and I had a thought while watching this... Is it possible to take the "NES Brain" (as you call it), add whatever NES ROMs I'd want, the "SNES Brain" with added ROMs, and be able to have them work in this dual-booted state as you advise here?
i have a super famicom mini and have applied the english translation successfully. assuming i add the famicom mini dump as my dual boot, i'm curious if it is also possible to apply its english translation hmod?
I noticed after recent updates I did that my space is down to 165mb, used to be 200mb which only allows me around 200 games at once if I am lucky.. kinda bummed by that and not sure why it did that, I even have the extra space mod working.
That's because the SNES file inserted takes up that space. A way around it is to save a blank document as snes.hsqs, add it as a game, and it won't take up so much space. Unfortunately I wasn't aware of this at the time of filming so I wasn't able to give out that information in the video.
Somehow I can't come back to my original games. I did added the nand as a game to be able to come back but when selected it just turns black and then comes back to the same screen. Is there a solution (Besides powering off and on again)? Thank you.

I found a game i thought would be cool for you to test i haven't had any luck getting it to play its mario kart r its a rom hack which has all new tracks and music let me know if you can get it to play thanks for all your hard work.
Do the nes games play better on the nes classic file/emulator or is it better to play them on retro arch. Any advantage to do this beyond the novelty of having both classics on one system
i have mine pluged into an ASUS 144hz 1ms gaming monitor. retroarch input delay is unplayable. i've messed with vertical sync hard gpu/cpu sync input polling audio delay pretty much every setting i can find and nothing makes it enjoyable to play. i was looking up the dual boot method to see if it would be better but i'm kinda tired of caring about the other games and think ill stick with canoe and SNES games

This is a pretty old video guys.
There is no need to dual boot the sysytem. Either will run Nes & Snes right out the gate. After you flash them.

Playstation version of this game runs great.

I tried adding games on the nes side and tried to synchronize them but hakchi recognized it as a snes classic. HELP!!!

Mario Kart R is a snes hack game it has all new tracks and music i had problems getting it to run. you should be able to google mario kart r rom.

Mike Moses I figured it out ce just isn’t working for me I used 2.30 n followed those instructions.
Once they are added correctly you don't have to use hakchi to switch between nes and snes. just select the icon in the game menu.

I personally play everything on retroarch. It's not that the stock emulator is bad, I just prefer all the options.

Is using snesclassic.dualboot-v0.3 just as good. Gets converted as a hmod or is that just for usb_host USERS ?
I've heard that was the outdated method so I went with this. Not sure about the USB part.
