And Pac-Man only ever really competed with Mario during the arcade days before consoles were a thing. If that even counts. The only reason I say they competed is because they were both in the arcade.

From what I understand, Iizuka saw his son playing mario kart with some of his friends and noticed not all of them were having fun. So he wanted to make something they could all have fun with together, inspiring the co-op gameplay of TSR.

Windmill Isle is simply Gorgeous. 🤩 Mario Kart 8 mods have such high quality. Took me awhile to get some of these mods to cooperate with each other (specifically Running sonic and UI/other sonic characters). I realized after the fact that the 2nd stage's music should not have been slowed down like that. 😅 Thought it sounded kinda cool and was meant to be like that originally.
If a Sonic themed course did ever get added in the next Mario Kart game, it needs to either have a changed layout for each lap or be like Yoshi’s Valley where you can choose your own path (kinda like the 2D games)
I'd be woried about showcasing Sonic mods on Nintendo games if I were you. Ninty's been on a copyright claim spree on these types of videos on other Sonic channels.

This mod looks absolutely incredible. Only thing I’d change, personally, is Sonic’s animations when he jumps off normal ramps; using some of his aerial trick animations instead of a spin jump, but the fact that he does something more than a generic hop is still an awesome touch. I kind of wonder if this could serve as inspiration for Nintendo and Sega to add Sonic and Sonic themed courses to Mario Kart in the future? 🙂
Honestly, this is not bad track design really cool idea. Although I think some of the turns can be smoothed out and edged a bit better, so you don't have that issue of just running into the walls even if you take a good turn, but I mean, that's just probably because you're playing sonic without a card so.
Other than various corners and the like *clearly* not made with Mario Kart 8 in mind proper, especially in Seaside Palace, it looks pretty solid! Still weird Nintendo never did this and kept crossovers with the Olympics as it's such a goldmine of fun stories to tell with the two worlds!

It feels like if Sonic's glider was based off the airplane one but edited to look like the Tornado, it would feel a little more in-line with something Sonic would feasibly use in this setting. The pixel glider is neat but just doesn't look right.

The game gear version of Sonic 2 featured a hang glider, I could easilly see Sonic use that for the glide jumps.

I'm surprised the bullet bill item didn't just turn him into super sonic and have him speed forward. The animation would of fit how boosting as super sonic in sonic generations kind of put you in a similar sort of auto pilot mode.
But I'm happy to see sonic in mario kart that like I said I will buy soon and basically I think sonic should be in every mario game besides smash bros and mario kart that I know of

I think they should add sonic in mario kart 8 deluxe because I tell ya since I got the nintendo switch last year 2023 summer time June and super smash bros ultimate along with nintendo switch delivered at my house it gave me joy when I first met sonic in smash bros and hopefully they can add him in mario kart 8 deluxe I plan to buy as the second option maybe next year

I still dont understand why Sega ditched All Stars Racing for Team Sonic Racing, when they could have just rebooted Sonic R.

I find it ironic that Sonic's ball form, which would create the most momentum on the ground, is only used when he is in the air.
