I love sonic generations so much and this makes it better. I wasn’t sure at first but it’s growing on me Seeing this with sonic frontiers would be so cool
The city escape portion reminds me that its not so much that Sonic's speed is influencing the board, that's just how fast skaters go down these roads in SF. Once you feel those wobbles, you either feel like you're about to meet god, or become one.
What's neat about this, is that it makes an amazing case for why Sonic should never be played in 1st person, but at the same time, also gives an incredible experience as to what it would feel like to BE him.
Ngl, they could totally pull off a first person Sonic rhythm game. Games that are consistently every time you play them and synced to a pattern that you can follow with multiple senses, like Beat Sabre, but just make it triggering moves that Sonic can do.
When you're playing at full speed, Sonic is already a rhythm game. Everything is consistent and will react the same way if you approach it from the same angle every time.
@CoralCopperHead yes, but I’m specifically referring to synchronization with a *_meaningful_* rhythm, like music. Most people can’t just memorize a series of a few hundred inputs and execute them perfectly on time, which is why Sonic is primarily about reaction time SUPPLEMENTED by memory of course shape on repeat playthroughs. What I’m suggesting is something more akin to Geometry Dash or Beat Sabre where the actions are directly synced up with a soundtrack that makes it easier to form muscle memory because it’s being associated with the music instead of just the level itself.
This just gave me an amazing idea Imagine someone playing the game with a controller and the normal camera While a second player with a VR headset gets to see what sonic sees. Maybe player 2 could even do something with sonics hands like grabbing poles or playing as shadow throwing chaos spears or punching enemies as you attack them.
Just makes me think of hover revolt of gamers. I build all of my characters for speed and play exclusively in first person, so I guess I already know what a first person sonic would look and feel like
