Don't sleep on the flight, then power through the first day and go to sleep at about 9pm. Right as rain after that. Works for me every time.

Or you dont sleep the night before your flight and sleep in the plane, but you need to make sure to land in the morning in your destination of choice.

when I travel I don't think about change in time zone and act as if nothing has changed, like it's just another day in my home town. My mind then automatically handles the rst.

The same happened to me when I traveled last year to India,I didn't give much thought to the change of time and it went so well, but what I didn't know was to drink lots of water before and fainted in airplane in the first flight but googled about it and learned about the drinking water and so I did just that when coming back home and thank God it went well 🙏👍

I flew from Canada to Turkey didn't even think about the time difference.. Just flew, slept on the flight, went to Turkey, slept at night and that was it. Don't think about it. See the airplane as a time machine or something, you to into a tube and go outside in a different place and that's all.

When I traveled to and from LA to China I used Brainwave program on my iPhone. It uses Binaural programs to allow your body to sleep or wake up and so I made sure that I would sleep or wake up according to the destination time zone. Worked like a charm - no jet lag and I was refreshed ready to see the sites.

When I went to China, I purposefully didn't sleep much the night before and then I got onto the night flight (which departed LA around 2am) and was able to sleep on the plane and woke up / arrived in Beijing around 7-8 am and was decently rested.
Going to a gym and having a hard workout always helped me as well.

Unfortunately I am old and severely handicapped. I cannot travel any more. I used to travel a lot when I was young. As a German I was lucky to have six weeks of paid annual leave. I have usually taken four weeks of my leave for a three week vacation/holidays. I have booked my departure on Tuesday/Wednesday although I have had the last working day on Friday and was off-duty by 1PM.
For travel to the States I have started to party hard the German way on Friday, from 11PM to Saturday 5AM. Then I have slept until 1PM on Saturday and have again partied hard to get used to sleep from 5AM German time to 1PM German time which is 11PM to 7AM US East Coast time.
For travel to Asia I have immediately started to heavily drink at home on Friday at 2PM until I have fallen asleep completely drunken at about 8PM. The next day I have started to drink by 9AM and have slept from 5PM to 1AM. In this way I could easily adjust my body to the time which was applied at my vacancy destination.
After return to Germany on Wednesday/Thursday I still had enough time to adjust the jet lag in order to start working on the next Monday.

Overnight/Red Eye flights are the way to do it if you are traveling east to Europe. My wife's family lives in Germany and we live in Texas, so they are 7 hours ahead of us. We go visit once a year. We take a flight that leaves Boston around 8:30PM, so its dark, and it arrives in Munich at 9AM, so its light. If you can sleep just the last 2-3 hours or so of the flight and then open your eyes to morning in Germany, you basically instantly adjust to the new time zone. The first day there you are pretty tired and groggy, yes. But your body is ready to go to sleep when night comes. We go to bed early that fist night, around 8pm. And that's it, you wake up the next day adjusted.

I usually can’t fall asleep on airplanes. After my flight from the US to Japan I slept for 14 hours and woke up at 4am. But that was close enough that I didn’t feel much jet lag. On the way back home, I managed to fall asleep and it took me a week to recover.

Hi.. I've watched your videos recently. I'm curious, have you ever experienced a turbulence during your flight? If so, how did you manage yourself to remain calm?

    • @vagabrothers
      @vagabrothers  6 років тому +2

Yes we definitely have, it’s always good to remember that planes are designed to have structural flex and them moving in turbulence is what they are designed to do. Then remember how many tens of thousands of commercial flights there are every day and how few crashes there are. If you start to have a freak out, just focus on slowing down your breathing with deep slow breathes and close your eyes. You’ll be fine :)

And get a watch! Then you don't need to pull out your expensive phone (which may be out of charge!) every time you need to know what time it is.

bro i hate jetlag, i don't usually sleep at long haul flights when i do maximum i sleep is 2-3 hours, whenever i take vacation to Philippines flight time takes atleast 16-20 hrs, so ofc usually i don't really get to sleep in a day. and when i arrived there its already morning. so i need to stay awake for the next 12 hrs again. usually whenever i travel from west to east like this, i need to stay awake atleast for more than 24 hours. it sucks. it takes me 5-7 days to adjust when my vacation is only like 14 days. so basically 1 week of my vacation there i was just a drowsy zombie and can't fully enjoy it. thanks for these tips. hope it will help in the future

Great and accurate rules. To sum up the 'best' point...When you arrive to your destination, "don't do math." Don't focus on, count, or even remember what time it is from your origin. Math creates jag lag. Your stomach will stay on its schedule, but there's nothing you can do about that. However, you can trick your mind into adapting quickly. When you land, that is the time, and the only time, period!

As a retired a chiropractor who practiced acupuncture, I have never experienced jet lag on the 20+ trios Ive taken to Europe from the US. The secret is sleeping on the way over-even a few hours will help and on the way back stimulating acupuncture points by rubbing for 15 sec behind your knees in the web space once every hour you’re in the air. Of course, this means you don’t sleep at all going home. Try it, it works. No need to do this headed over to Europe from the US. Just sleep.

If you're flying from Australia, east coast, to Spain...well you're pretty well toast. 17 hrs But arriving in Barcelona at 9pm, go out to eat and then go to bed, I found we bounced. It was the days after we returned to Aus that zombied me.

You don't get jet lag going on holiday cause your doing to much and enjoying yourself too much ...you get it when you get home cause you just stop and have nothing to do

Use nose opening strips when sleeping on the aircraft. Every bit of o2 helps. Dab a of generic Neosporin in you nose, not to deep, with a q-tip before you board. It will keep your nose from drying out.

i can literally sleep on the spot.
i have no fucks to give when it comes to sleep.
On the spot demand, close my eyes and the next thing i know i just lost seven to eleven hours.
i wonder what jet lag could do to my on-the-spot sleep pattern? only one way to find out!

Never sleep on the plane either way it just sucks when adjusting to home time again in summer. 16 hours is a hard time change to adjust to.

Guys, this is weird. :D Watching a video about dealing with jet lag with footage from all over the world and suddenly recognizing my personal running track at 7:30 back home.
    Nice tips by the way!
