Kinda true tho as every person I’ve lived with does not dress for the weather and piss that i keep thermostat too hot or too cold depending on the season. I say dress for the weather you dumbasses. You do not control the temperature you adjust yourself.

It also helps to know what the material is made of as well. If its all polyester its gonna get hot real quick, its like wearing a plastic bag. So go for more breathable fabrics in between, a fabric that'll wick up moisture well next to your skin, and the outer layer could be polyester or some other form of synthetic fabric.

Cotton is the WORST for a base layer. While it traps air, it also absorbs water and dries slowly which forces your body to give up even more heat to make the water evaporate. Heat tech clothing are usually made out of polyester.

A good list I have on hand is:
The 1st layer, is like your under wear 🧦, the one that touches your skin should be moisture wicking, like-
Wool (merino or mixed)
Bamboo
Linen
2nd layer, is like your regular clothes 👖, or the middle layer for your jacket-
Wool
Down
Fleece
Cotton (here is okay if not touching skin, its breathable but not moisture wicking)
3rd layer, is your removable protective layer 🧥, against the elements like wind and rain-
Polyester
Nylon
(They also come in a lot of different names, like fleece, jersey, rayon, terry, these don't name the fabrics but how they're woven but most of the time its made from some type of polyester)
(A lot of clothes are made with these, even underwear and exercise clothes but its not good, you can't even wash these in hot water or put in the dryer, they should be tumble dried low or hang dried)
One thing to also consider is colour! The colours we consider to be on the "warm" spectrum is cooling to wear, and the colours we consider to be the "cool" spectrum is hot to wear.

I suggest wearing pregnancy leggings under your pants!! Specially when they are straight pants. Put your high socks on the leggings so they don’t move around at the ankle
