    I noticed the “k” and “g” switch and the “t” and “d” switch is the same as Japanese, where it uses the same character to say both, but a small marking (tenten) differentiates the two.

    • @realmothchu
      @realmothchu 2 роки тому +50

      its the same in korean too !

    • @majiokko
      @majiokko 2 роки тому +56

      I think this is because k and g both get produced in the same place in the mouth! t and d and s and z too. The only difference is that one is voiced (g, d, z) and the other is unvoiced (k, t, s)

    • @rds7516
      @rds7516 2 роки тому +16

      The only difference between those characters is the voicing. K and G are made the same way, you just use your vocal chords with G. Likewise with T and D, P and B, F and V.

      Also old Turkic alphabet

    • @aroshota
      @aroshota 2 роки тому +13

      Same in Russian (and most Slavic languages i guess) and Kazakh languages! There are paired voiced and voiceless consonants like "g - k", "d - t", "b - p", etc, which change their sound to being voiced or voiceless depending on their placement in the word, or which letters surround them. It's so cool that despite the differences in the development and the languages themselves, they're so many interesting similarities between them!

    Please do more of these. I just like learning about this writing system, I would like to be able to write my own sentences, and I think learning by example from these rune carvings is a good way.
    Maybe even elder futhark

    I think it's fascinating how many parallels exist between words written in Younger Futhark and modern equivalents in English. Some words just last the test of time and jump seas.
