As a Swede and a huge language nerd, this video was an absolute delight! The only problem is that your voice is so relaxing that I keep falling asleep in the middle of it, despite being very interested in the topic...
I noticed the “k” and “g” switch and the “t” and “d” switch is the same as Japanese, where it uses the same character to say both, but a small marking (tenten) differentiates the two.
I think this is because k and g both get produced in the same place in the mouth! t and d and s and z too. The only difference is that one is voiced (g, d, z) and the other is unvoiced (k, t, s)
The only difference between those characters is the voicing. K and G are made the same way, you just use your vocal chords with G. Likewise with T and D, P and B, F and V.
Same in Russian (and most Slavic languages i guess) and Kazakh languages! There are paired voiced and voiceless consonants like "g - k", "d - t", "b - p", etc, which change their sound to being voiced or voiceless depending on their placement in the word, or which letters surround them. It's so cool that despite the differences in the development and the languages themselves, they're so many interesting similarities between them!
I know everyone talks about sleep. But brilliant Asmr like this also helps get me through waking up very early in the morning, calming anxiety and easing my mood when sick. 👌

Very surprising to me how similar some of the words are to English. Really didn’t know that Nordic and Germanic cultures mixed that much, but in retrospect it makes perfect sense. Awesome video!
Nordics are Germanic, actually Germanic tribes (before splitting into north, west and east Germanic) originally lived in southern Scandinavia and northern Germany lol
Absolutely love this. The long branch runes are slightly easier to read for me, so see long branch (typically seen on Danish or early Nord and Swedish rune stones) makes me happy

I find it so interesting how much runic swedish was said so similarly to english, even just modern swedish translations sound so similar to English. I dont know why I was scared of swedish (probably the number of scary accents, but still)
I used to play an MMORPG video game called Ultima Online during the early 2000s. The cloth map that was given with the video game was all written in runic writing, to match the vibe of the game. In order to use the cloth map, I learned runic writing in order to read the map while playing. I was about 12 years old then and still know the runic alphabet by heart hahah.
I would like it if you did more maps! A good idea would be a map of colonial Americas. Also, amazing video as always love old writing styles like Norse, Roman and Ancient Greek writing!
