Thank you for all the information. I’m about to purchase my first hearing aids in over 20 years. I had a 30 day trial with Widex about 6 years ago and had a great experience but never kept them. Now to decide, I really don’t what to go with. This is a huge investment for me, so I want to make I get the most out of it. I have a new iPhone and I’m stuck between Oticon, Omnia 9 and the new Starkey Genesis. I work at a restaurant and I’m always using headphones for music, phone calls, tv and video games. I don’t know how to choose.
I’ve been with Oticon for a few years, and I have a trial of the Oticon real 2. I absolutely love them for my tinnitus, and they are an upgrade from the lower model I’ve been wearing. But the price! Even with a $2500 insurance benefit, I still would be paying over $2000 out of pocket.
Thanks for a nice summarisation! I have recently trialed Phonaks and Widex and decided to go with Widex Moment. The sound of Phonaks was not for me whereas Moments provided me with an audible improvement over my current aids.
I have the Starkey Genesis mRIC hearing aids and love them. The music program sounds great, and the Edge+ mode is excellent. I find the sound is much more natural. They work great with Android as well, and I like the ability to customize the settings on the go using the app. I wear glasses, and these hearing aids are small enough to be comfortable with glasses.
It would really be nice to have a chart comparing all the hearing aids at all their different price points. In the meantime, I am still wearing my Signia Pure 7px from 6 years ago. The hearing aids are great but don’t have direct bluetooth and the app is primitive.
I am in the middle of a trial period with the Phonak that you described. I called their support line a couple times and there was a long wait but I was given the option to leave my phone number for a callback. I did this twice and have not heard back in over two days. I also emailed them a question on their website to which they have not responded. So I am not happy with their customer service!
Yes, she told me to contact Ponak lol. She gave me their phone number and I sent them an email via their website. Still no response. I think it’s time to switch audiologists.
Hi: A week ago I was at the audiologist office and after a number of tests, she prescribed me a pair of hearing aids with a quote of $4800, which will be fitted on me a week later. Later at home, I Googled and found the online price of exactly the same hearing aids to be $3200. Is this normal, or am I getting scammed? Is the $1600 difference quite customary and necessary to cover the service to be provided by the audiologist in the weeks/months afterwards?
Hey Nuuk it’s a common question. Hearing aids aren’t easy to programme, personalise and maintain, there’s a huge service led element being provided by your audiologist. Therefore they’re only as good as how well they’re set up. I often have the same question in clinic and value my time effort and knowledge, (which hopefully comes across in my videos) more than the next person. Times that extra money over the years that hearing aids will last and the cost isn’t that much more. I hope this helps. Matthew
@@Wunderpus-photogenicus and IMO a good audiologist should do a demo appointment first, and if you like the tech you should have a trial period (even if other UA-cam audiologists say they don’t like them - it should be enough to put your mind at ease)
HearingTracker, is there one of these RIC hearing aids (or any quality hearing aid) that protects your hearing from loud sudden spikes of noise (a loud screech, firecrackers, gunshots, etc)?
I had such high hopes for the Starkey Genesis AI devices that I got from the VA in June when they first came out. I have had nothing but grief with them so they are going back to Starkey and I'm going back to the Phonak Lumity devices that I had prior to the Starkeys. I really like the classic bluetooth that Phonak uses because it lets me stream from my PC laptop into the hearing aids without using an intermediate device like a remote microphone.
Hey BigFreakinRed, all of them if they’re programmed properly. Have a chat with your audiologist and as long as they’ve coupled them to your ear with the appropriate dome/mould that is something that can be resolved. Thanks for watching and great question, Matthew
Been wearing the new Strakey Genesis AI for almost two weeks with two separate adjustments, and they have been absolutely horrible. I can almost hear voices better without them. Returning them as I am still within my trial period.
I have had the evolve AI IIC hearing aids but didn't like the sound quality. I'm assuming its because IIC is just an unnatural sound quality, but never tried Starkey RIC's but possibly might want to try the genesis model as these seem absolutely amazing.. Are these RIC’s better than the IIC’s? I now have the Phonak Audeo lumity.. Are these better than those hearing aids? Also is there a music setting as well? How do these two hearing aids compare? Which is better for musicians?
I strongly recommend you to test SIGNIA AX. You will be impressed! I also have Starkey IIC soundlens and the difference between Signia and Starkey is HUGE!
@@RewWen I switched to Widex, those are the best for musicians! Ive heard that Signia is also similar to Widex, but ive spoken to so many other audiologists and many other musicians who have used Widex and they all said its the best for musicians so i stand by that after getting them and hearing it for myself after trying so many different devices
Can you help me I have moderate conductive hearing loss and my audiologist given demo of Resound Omnia 5 RIE with Charger and Widex Moments Sheer sRIC RD 220 Rechargeable. Both are Good and by experience wise Resound front focus program is Awesome and Widex has AI and overall ok. So I am confused which one to choose. Help me
Hey, go with what you like better, the benefits of having tried i all of those is that you can see where you like best! It does seem like you like resound most?. I have tried ReSound and Widex (330) and i by far like widex way better
I disagree with your assessment of the styletto being more of a fashion statement rather than a hearing aid. I haven't been able to wear BTE hearing aids because I wear hats, and glasses. the slimmer design allows me to wear these BTE hearing aids so I can have better quality hearing aids. I normally wear custom hearing aids.
Hey Garrison, thanks for taking the time to comment. Perhaps I phrased that poorly. I actually really like the concept, as it will potentially get some people wearing hearing aids that wouldn't choose to wear them otherwise. They get a thumbs up from me. Matthew
I watched your best of the new hearing aids for 2023. I have been wearing hearing aids for over 15 years and have worn everyone you talked about except the Signia, which I have on order as we speak. The Styletto AX. I haven't been able to wear BTE hearing aids, so since this one is thinner, I thought I would give them a try. Thank you for your knowledge and your videos. I appreciate the time it takes to do those and to research them.
I;m agree with garrison. I also have styletto and are ... i dont; have a single word against. I also wear glasses when working to PC and styletto are great.
I wish they wouldn't call these videos a "review" of the product. All they do is regurgitate information from the manufacturer. It's like I just watched 5 commercials for hearing aids.
Did Widex fix all the issues with Bluetooth on Android? It was one of the main reason why I went with Phonak with my latest model rather than Widex, even if I like their sound better.
Starkey es una chapuza, lo peor en conectividad bluetooth con enorme diferencia, no consigue conectar ni emparejarse con Android. He probado, Resound, Signia, Danavox, Phonak.
These bluetooth aids will make the elderly more deaf like teens, listening to music directly blasting in their eyes. This review is such rubbish, making an amplifier into a much more complicated experience. My Dad has the NY Times recommended "Tweak" and it was $299 per ear. Zvox, their budget pick is $249 a pair!!! Don't be conned into spending more.
