For this video I hope in the second hot hatch of the week, the MazdaSpeed3 with minor bolt on's pushing around 300 wheel horsepower! The car was definitely fun to drive right after driving it's rival the Focus St and was a great comparison test. Thanks so much for watching and stay awesome.

As a current stock gen 1 Mazdaspeed 3 owner, David's review is pretty true to my experience with the car. It's not as refined as other hot hatches, but it does pull like a runaway train. The utility of the hatchback is also a big plus when moving large items, mountain bikes, or making Home Depot runs. Thanks for the review!

Patrick Jones I REALLY have had that on my to do list for some time now. I need to get a camera(hero3?) that is 1080p with good sound in order to start shooting. I'm one of those do it right or don't do it people(and hate low quality video).
Yeah I'm like that too. The GoPro is good for sticking it on your car for driving, etc, but if you're gonna present the car or yourself, try and find a camera with a mic jack for a better external mic. I've been looking to do the same thing, just I don't have the awesome car you have. :) Good luck!

***** Having driven the Fiesta/Focus ST, WRX, etc. . I chose this and I absolutely love it. I couldn't be happier, and I haven't even had time to modify it lol. But I bought it used for $22k. Slightly overpaid but got full coverage warranty on it so I pay nothing for non-maintenance parts and stuff. If you get a chance, snatch one up in the 2013 with tech package. There's no better way unless you can find one super cheap.
Derek Dahlke ive been looking at speed3's, focus st, gti, and wrx for awhile now and i would like to thank you for your helpful comment. i found a speed3 close by and it is much cheaper than anything else i can find and looks great, hoping to snatch that one up soon.
+Derek Dahlke I bought mine brand new, 2013 charcoal gray with tech package and I love it. Mine still stock, but I'm planning to make some minor mods soon like a short air intake, rear motor mount, and maybe a blow off valve. This is an amazing front wheel drive muscle car, lol.

I was thinking about getting a speed3 and the more research I did and the more I learned the more I fell in love with this car this review definitely pushed me over the edge I am 100% for sure getting this car now, and this is probably best channel on youtube keep the videos coming and maybe ill see you at a car meet one day!

I love my Mazda Speed 3, its stock but still pulls like a beast. Im planning on doing so much things to it later when i save up. I just love its natural look. The reason why its smiling is because you know that you'll enjoy it.

These cars are amazing. I used to own one and it had the Cobb stage 3 package plus so many other mods and I got to say that it was a blast. I now own a 2017 Subaru STI and I can say I still miss it.

Absolutely spot on review. Ive wanted one since the first gen. I bought the 13 in red. I love the aggressive looks over the first gens. I use everyday I'm a salesmen and own my own business. I put 18k miles on it in 1st year with no issues. If you out on cruise control or stay at about 65-70mph you do get amazing logs. I did need a new set of tires and I dont run it hard or race it. the stock tire are crazy expensive ($370 each). The St is a great car but hand down I would pick this over it.

I guess I was right yesterday, lol. I've always liked your reviews and watching you reviewing the speed 3 was even better. Unlike most people, you are open minded about car culture, you drive a muscle cars, but appreciate imports, stock, modded, some people take cars like football teams, and really dont see it like that. Thank you for the review.

Ahh lovely review Dude !! I hate that front end, and I think the new designs Mazda has are totally awesome (e.g. Mazda 6) but watching this video and the noise and your driving, put a smile on my face. Cars like this NEED to exist because some of us still love to row our own gears and smile ear to ear taking corners all by ourselves. I hope you find a Mazdaspeed6 to review soon, those cars were awesome and I'd totally bag one if I found a good one. Not to mention, you gotta get your hands on an RX8, but I bet that's on your list already. Cheers to another fun review !!

such an underrated car, infact mazda has always been the underdog until now. i had a 2011 2.5 hatch and it handled just just a tad bit better than mine current genesis coupe

The reason that I occasionally miss 3rd gear in mine, is because how reverse works on these cars. You push the shift knob down and go up to the left. I find that when I'm bangin into 3rd I sometimes accidentally push the knob down a little. Making it not go into gear. That's why I like the pull up reverse better.

Good stuff - I'll hit that subscribe button. It's about time someone is testing and comparing these vehicles after they get the typical aftermarket treatment. I love my MS3, but it needed a lil more turbo and the magic corn - really loving it now.

There's a reason there isn't a lot of euro stuff on my channel-they never let me drive them. And those are more rare here too.

The Chevy Bolt hatch is pretty quick too. Lots and lots of torque. 238 miles range EPA.

Wilson Lee well they destroy wrxs from factory, you can't compare them to stis or evos. They're the middle group
MS3 3rd gear lockout/crunch at WOT is a trait of the gearbox, even with rear mount.

Hey man I watch all your videos. I'm thinking of getting either a 2007 mazdaspeed 6.. Or a 2007 impala ss, it would be sick if you could try and find those cars and drive them!! And make a video!
i own a 13 speed3. first mod you should do is either replace the rear motor mount or put the inserts on it. it sounds like a shotgun blast when you hit second on stock rear mounts. and the torque steer is pretty bad when you are not used to it. cant wait for my warranty to go out so i can mod the shit out of it.
That turbo sounds more like a small jet turbine than a hiss! What was the song in the beginning?

Now that you've done the speed 3 you should really try and find a dodge caliber srt4. I don't know if you have done a neon srt4 yet but the caliber is a very rare and very different animal. I have one but I'm all the way up in NJ which isn't too bad of a drive but it's a car that is different but has a lot of power. Go ahead and check out some research on them you may find yourself itching to find one of these rare unicorns of the 4cyl turbo world
I'm debating on this or the 2017 gran touring hatch. do you think the second gen 3s will rust like the first gen? I've got an 04 with less than 85k miles and rust spots are already starting to shiw

omg finally...my speed3 is always there for me
....im starting to mod my mazdaspeed 3 and im going for a 3" downpipe, fuel pump upgrade and a tune for my first 3 upgrade. I skipped the air intake and turbo inlet pipe because apparently the stock air box and stock inlet pipe has enough flow to support the 3" downpipe.
My friend had a MK1 MPS, 422bhp. Absolutely insane car, doing 90mph it'd spin it's wheels in 4th.
How do you think it compares to the gen one? I remember at one point you said that you heard that nimbleness of the gen one was better but I wasn’t sure what your final opinion was after driving both.
If I drive like a normal person I can do 25 city. But this car isn't meant to drive normal, every time I set foot in the car I can tell that she's genuinely trying to kill me, and I love it. I drove almost every other hatchback out there, and while some of them would make a better DD, none of them would make you smile like the MS3. It is just so much fun!!!
I honestly don't know why I love this review the most, I don't even much care for the car I drive it's competitor. Lol

ive had a gen 2 speed3 for just over a year now- ATP catless dowpipe, HKS BOV, COBB Intake, COBB rear motor mount, COBB AP v3, tuned for all the bolt ons on 93 - I love the thing! Ordering a FMIC kit within the next month or so to help it breath even better. The car has its pros and cons but I promise the pro's is a much long list. One thing I wish was different is the availability of aftermarket parts - much easier for the first gen speeds but IF you can find parts for the gen 2 they're usually expensive as all hell..hence why I'm going with the CX Racing front mount kit and just throwing the HKS BOV I have on it ;)

not yet, that's next on the list as far as performance goes, although I want to take some time to work on aesthetic features as well as do a full exhaust some time soon..
