I was very young and that one got me... Took me quite a while to figure out this was a joke. Thanks for bringing up these memories again and make me feel old. 😂
There was also one about a cd transfer foil. You'd stick it on a cd, play the cd, pull the foil off the cd, stick it on a cdr, and put it in the cd player again and let it play, to burn the cd.
Interestingly, that's somewhat possible now, but on a game-by-game basis, using the composite color. There's 16 color composite CGA versions of Commander Keen 4 & 5. There's also the AREA 5150 demo that does a ton of color on a CGA card over RGB.
@@marsilies Composite existed way back then but it was never a popular output for the PC because everyone used monitors... almost nobody used a TV with a PC like they did with the C64 and Apple][.
it was the time when crossflashing cd-burners became popular. i had the 4x ricoh mp7040a back then and was happy i could upgrade it to the 6x mp7060a with a simple flash.
Hopefully someone finds that magazine eventually!
I hope as well it still turns up one day. Even the DOS EXE file would be nice.

It seems more like a December Fools episode
Yeah, well, I fidn't find a way to extend the Advent series into April ;-)

Thats a good april fools joke
Could be worse... Back in the 80s we had one called SIMEGA that would supposedly emulate EGA on a CGA card. Except it was a virus.

Never bother with flashing plain CD drivers. But I reflashed some DVD drives in order to make them soft-switchable for the region code.
hahahahahahaha
Lol clever joke oh wow
