Is that not one of the greatest lyrics ever?
"If there's a God in the sky, looking down, what can he think of what we've done, to the world that he created?"
    It rings too true.

You Are My Life Pictures - Please note the word IF .... I like many others question the idea of a goddess/god ruling over any world. Just doesn’t make sense. And please, if you have those beliefs, don’t think I’m looking down on your beliefs. I just don’t share them.

This is often the forgotten song of Queen's Live Aid performance: everyone remembers their six-song main set which catapulted them to fame, but it's easy to forget that Brian May and Freddie Mercury came out later into the evening to perform this song as a duo.

Even by Live Aid, they were already very famous and had more than enough money to retire, but, they continued because of their passion for music.
It's such a shame that a beautiful song like this is so underrated.

My father woke me up this morning by calling me when he was at work .
He called me to surprise me and tell me he has booked tickets to See Queen live next year in London .
I couldn't believe what he was saying . I was shocked . When he came home from work I just cried and hugged him. This being the first time I've ever hugged him whilst crying. He said to me "I didn't know Queen meant this much to you"
I looked him in the eye and said " Queen to me isn't just a band . They are part of my life. They are the reason I wake up everyday and want to live another Day. And even though I wasn't around when Freddie was around , I miss him more than fucking anyone ."
He then began to tear up and he just hugged me again . That moment right there has been the closet me and my dad have ever been. And I don't regret a single moment. Queen has bought me closer to someone I thought I never could be close to, they have taught me that life isn't all so easy but you still carry on despite the difficulties.
Every single song ... Every single lyric ... I can listen to them all and relate them to a moment in my life . Freddie was so so so .. incredibly strong even when he was dying . And if that doesn't prove that you can live everyday until your very last day to the fullest I don't know what will. Some days I feel like just giving up . I feel like life isn't worth it. But then I listen to Queen. They are like a supportive best friend or loved one , telling you that they're always there for you .
Freddie isn't around anymore yet he has still been there for me more than most people have . That's amazing and I can't think of any other artist that has had that effect on me .
I love you Queen. I love you, Freddie Mercury . Thank you for everything . For not letting me give up , for making me feel hope even in my darkest times. And most importantly...
For just being you and doing what you love.
"Lover of life , Singer of songs"
    RIP my darling Freddie .
    We will never forget you.
    We still love you.

First time I have ever heard this song. I shared it with my cousin and his wife, who do fantastic work with foster kids - especially around this time of year, getting gifts for everyone from 0-18 through a charity fund they raise around Christmastime. Beautiful work, Master Mercury!

I first heard this song off a promo record my mom won from a radio station before it had been released to the public (mid 80s)-I was probably about 8 years old. The whole The Works album is great, but I’d sit and listen to this one song over and over and over, pondering each lyric. This song shaped who I am, and I’m grateful for it every day. Music changes lives.

I've chosen this song to relate to the text at hand, both preach acknowledgment about poverty, hunger, and the sufferings of those who are not fortunate enough as the rest of us. "You know that every day a helpless child is born ----" this line speaks about how those who are rich and wealthy have no idea of how those who aren't are fighting for their life everyday just to get what the rich can easily attain, our society favors those who have the money to pay, not those who really need it.

I know this song was trying to send a message back then, but I think it is a much more important message today. There are still people in poverty, people killing other people, and I feel really sad that in a lot of places the world can't be a happy place, there's always got to be conflict. That is why this song is Queen's best, it's probably the most relatable of their songs. Thats why Queen are one of the best bands ever, you can get so happy with say 'Under Pressure' and 'Don't Stop Me Now' and 'Breakthru' and slow songs like this and 'My Melancholy Blues' and their anthems 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are The Champions'. Brian, Roger, John and especially Freddie, were the best musicians ever. Nothing will ever beat Queen.

Just look at all those hungry mouths we have to feed
Take a look at all the suffering we breed
So many lonely faces scattered all around
    Searching for what they need
Is this the world we created?
What did we do it for
Is this the world we invaded
    Against the law
So it seems in the end
Is this what we're all living for today
    The world that we created
You know that everyday a helpless child is born
Who needs some loving care inside a happy home
Somewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne
Waiting for life to go by
Wooh, is this the world we created?
We made it all our own
Is this the world we devastated, right to the bone
If there's a God in the sky looking down
What can he think of what we've done
To the world that he created
Songwriters: Brian May / Freddie Mercury
