+rahdo I LOL'd when you couldn't remember the name because the story it's based on is actually titled 'all you need is kill' and the movie was titled that until a couple months before release. They changed it and all the movie critics lamented the utterly forgettable name. I guess the critics were right! ;)
I'm curious about the Trash can card at 6:30. If you didn't go there in the beginning could you after you ran out of time and restarted and had to start the mission all over again
+rahdo ah ok, didn't realise that was a thing. So am I right in saying any time it shows the shields on the card you place these at the bottom of the track so they can be worked on over several TUs?
+Jonathan Kipps-Bolton correct. most tests take multiple turns to complete, unless you're really strong in the skill needed. so the shields stay round after round. if you ever step away from the area though without completing, then the shields are removed, and when you go back there, you've got to start all over
+Ben Thorp i don't think so, because he died based on my successes (i.e. had no shields left) so we never reached the riposte phase (or rather, when we reached the riposte phase, there was no skull shield left on the board)
+rahdo I too was under the impression you take damage. I read it as "anytime you melee, take a damage" e.g. you got bitten or scratched or twisted your ankle while fighting - even if he's killed. But i have neither played this game nor read the rules :P
So basically once you work out how to defeat each story there is no longer any replay ability. Do I have that right? I like the theme but I'm thinking once I know how to beat it, what's the point.
+rahdo I rarely read a book twice but games are meant to be replayed over and over again. You love it and that's fine but it's not for me I have to say. Shame cause it's good theme and concept.
+World of Warpaint well, people have enjoyed point and click adventures for decades, buying and playing them only once. The classic Lucas Arts games, Myst, even new ones like the stuff from Telltale games. So there's a long and wonderful tradition of games that are played and thoroughly enjoyed once. :)
+rahdo Funny you should mention Myst, my partner is playing that at the moment lol. If your interested check out obduction a new game by cyan worlds. Once again not my thing but my wife enjoys cyan games like Myst, Riven.
+World of Warpaint I think boardgames are meant to be replayed over and over because that's the way they've been designed up til now. At least with this you could possibly resell it when you're done with it. Unlike Pandemic Legacy. Personally, I think the idea is brilliant. I look forward to it.
when jen was doing a test, she needed 2 successes to do the task. she rolled 1 success first time. the second time she got 2 successes. did the first roll carry forward to the second roll or did she need 2 successes on a single roll?
+rob taylor normally your successes carry over by removing those chips, but that was a special case where jen had to get all her successes in one attempt
+rob taylor correct! the rules say you're not supposed to read the story text on a card to other players, but you can read the direction/gameplay mechanism text outloud. i should have done that during the video to make it more clear :)
+rahdo You're a solid, grounded guy, Rahdo--you know your audience appreciates your game play videos, regardless if a few rules are broken. Damn hard not to break rules when you play a game regularly, let alone one-offs for videos. Keep up the good work--and as always, ignore the trolls. They just hate themselves enough to want to trash the efforts of others in some lame attempt to create a lowest common denominator. Cheers for not sinking to their level!
+rahdo I think he meant that usually you have a lot of annotations to your videos of rules correction , and this video you have none. If he knows that often you make rule mistakes (which is understandable because of the number of games that you should learn) ,it means that he watches you frequently and likes you .
Tom Cruise's movie was Edge of Tomorrow... which is a great movie
+Rohit Ramnath It is an incredibly great movie! :)
+UncleMilo yes, with a very forgettable title! :)

+Alexandra Pellerin yup, you can always catch it on the 2nd go
When you're doing the test to open the boot of the car in the first action of the game should you not put shields on the track under the card?
+Jonathan Kipps-Bolton it's a special kind of test that doesn't use the shields :)
+rahdo ah ok, didn't realise that was a thing. So am I right in saying any time it shows the shields on the card you place these at the bottom of the track so they can be worked on over several TUs?

Really luv the style & theme of this game!
Another excellent runthrought, thanks Rahdo!
At 21:54, shouldn't the player take damage as all melee combat rolls in this scenario have automatic skulls?
+Ben Thorp i don't think so, because he died based on my successes (i.e. had no shields left) so we never reached the riposte phase (or rather, when we reached the riposte phase, there was no skull shield left on the board)

+Fester Blats ah yes you're right! i forgot about the special melee rules for marcy! d'oh! good point, note added :)
Awesome!!! I just bought the game yesterday, can't wait to play it!! Thanks for the video, very informative:)

+World of Warpaint by the same argument, what's the point of reading a book? once you've finished it, it has no 're-readability' :)
+rahdo I rarely read a book twice but games are meant to be replayed over and over again.

Right thx Richard. I presume it stated on her card it had to be 1 roll?

8:28 The Tom Cruise movie he's searching for is Edge of Tomorrow. Not a goof, but still a useful annotation :P
+FishofMuu done!
great movie, forgettable title
Are these expansions going to be like unconnected episodes of a television series, or are they part of a connected storyline?
+jaxommm no idea. the two so far seem episodic, so i would assume that's the standard
You're repeating yourself
+kedalin yeah, i do that sometimes, which is something i do
Hey Rahdo, Are you sure you're playing this game right and not like all those other board games you F***ed up in your other videos?
+De Nim Ah, a troll, that's always amusing.
+Jerry Morton yeah, i broke my normal "answer every question asked of me" rule for this guy... no idea why he decided to be so rude. very strange...
