On the speciation turn (at about 25 minutes) the rules say 'up to'. So the smart move for Jen would be to place none or one on the tiles where she has no food. There is literally no benefit to wasting the extra cubes, since you can't get them back once they die.
I thought I didnt see right. Cause I never ever would have thought you would run through this game. (havent watched the vid yet but I suspect it was a backer request) In any case I love this game. It is a bit on the long side sometimes (especially if you play it with first timers) I recently played a 2 player game and it was fun. I am super interested to see what you think of the game and its mechanics. (I already know it wont be a keeper since its too agressive probably for you and jen but often you do point out objectively great things in games and give in general a good review about game features that are enjoyable)

I'm still learning, but I think you made a mistake @29:47 Shouldn't you have gotten 3VP rather than 2VP? I believe that you should reference the number and the corresponding VP per the table printed on the board.
See the example on page 13 of the 3rd Printing rulebook.
I came to watch because I was convinced I was doing this wrong. Constantly calculating dominance after every. fucking. move. IS EXHAUSTING and the main reason this game takes forever. I hoped I was doing it wrong and that dominance should only be calculated before the dominate action but alas that's actually what you're supposed to do. And it's actually quite important for game play and decision making. EXHAUSTING. I kinda regret buying this. It will gather tons of dust because most people in my game group don't go for the long ones.

Megasupreme sounds like a giid concept for a game tho
6 attentive and decisive players can have a good game in 2 hours. But you can not have a player who is inclined to analysis paralysis. The analysis paralysis causes the other to lose their concentration which then requires them to mentally catch up when their turn finally arrives. So the problem compounds into 3+ hour long games.
Arachnids? Mammals? This game should be called dominant class!

Half Evil yeah, 6 colors to choose from, all kind of pastel-ish, but hopefully enough variety :)
Definitely, lol. Weird that he chose two colors that are so close to each other. Also unfortunate that the game made the "blue" so turquoise instead of true blue. Default colors for those animals are white for mammals and red for arachnids. Pretty darn contrasty!
I only played it once. It's not the longest game in the world, but it sure felt like it.
