The video demonstrates in a detailed and easy-to-understand manner the process of using Teflon pipe tape. I was really impressed with the demonstrator's knowledge and the way he explained common mistakes people make.
2:15 It looks simple, but doing it properly is a problem. Many people take a long time to learn how to wrap a bandage properly. Thank you for sharing this practical video.
In my younger years I sailed as a marine engineer, before Teflon tape we used pipe dope and hemp for threaded connections. And you know what, I still use pipe dope but now with Teflon tape, never a leak.
"Pipe dope" As it's known by old timers like us. Nowadays you ask for pipe dope and no one knows what you're talking about it's now called pipe sealant. From a 40+ year Gas man.
I am so impressed how you took the time to conduct a survey to work out your 94% figure. The average guy who knows how to apply teflon tape correctly, probably would have just had a title like"Heres how you apply Teflon tape correctly" and not bothered conducting an indepth survey like you did. Wow.....amazing.
Nie dokońca to dobra rada, bo można spotkać rurę z gwintem lewym. A wtedy właśnie nakręcamy taśmę teflonową jak na początku filmu. Poprawnie by było że taśmę owijamy w zależności od rodzaju gwintu.
"Fantastic tutorial! I never realized the importance of applying Teflon tape in the correct direction until watching this. It's such a simple fix that can save so much frustration. Thanks for the clear explanation!"
when teflon tape came on the market, it was already better than hemp sealant (it depends). but since sealant like loctite 55 is available, I only use that
I twist a flat tape into a rope like shape and then only put it among bumps, because if you tape it flat like you have, it becomes very thin at concave areas when connecting pipes, and those ares need to be filled with tape material at first place. so you have mistake number 0 there.
My best one yet is ‘a friend’ of my daughter who did some plumbing for her and wrapped a compression fitting olive in PTFE tape … oh, but also didn’t do more than hand tighten the fitting. It did hold water … for about 24 hours … before blowing the fitting off and sending mains-pressure water over a newly laid wooden floor, ruining it and some kitchen electricals 😢
I'm in the UK. I find standard teflon tape too thin needing vast numbers of turns with UK fittings. Instead I use gas tape which has a yellow cast to it and is considerably thicker such that about 5 turns is sufficient. Also when tightening fittings with tape, if you can do them up by hand they aren't tight enough. You should need to use a spanner and be close to worrying about damaging the pipework because of how hard it is to turn, then I get no leaks.

94%の人がシールテープの巻き方間違っているなんてちょっと大げさでは!?
94 no, ma almeno il 75, sicuro.

Just curious, how did you arrive at a 94% figure?
I find it hard to believe anyone doing their own repair is that inept.
