    Thanks for the informative video with good information and also lots of shots of the various hotels and other places. It must have been a lot of work to put this together in such a good package. You gave me some ideas for my next (fourth) visit to Saigon this year.

      Thanks very much! Yes a lot of work putting this video together but it’s worth it for the satisfaction of helping others like yourself enjoy their stay! 4th visit! You obviously love crazy and beautiful Saigon!

    what about d4 I am looking at a hotel right at the edge of d1 and d4 right on the river? really like your micro documentaries LOL right to the point this is what you find here "up to you"

      Thanks! D4 is convenient. It had a reputation as a place of frequent crime at one time. I would still be careful around there at night and avoid quiet streets.

      I stay in D4 at the millennium pretty often. A two dollar taxi ride and 10 minutes away from almost anywhere in D1, you can find the rooms on Airbnb, a beautiful one bedroom about $50 per night and a nice two bedroom about $70 per night. Millennium is a great building, very clean, new, modern with a great pool. Check it out! I walked around D4 extensively, in the back alleys Late at night and during the day. I’ve never had a problem and never felt unsafe at all. It will be much more of an adventure than staying in D1, and the food and vegetables are half price

    Great video. Wish when you mentioned area, would have stated which district it was. Unless they were all in district 1.. im coming in January from the Philippines and want to know mire about district 7.

    • @iamjohnsaboe
      @iamjohnsaboe  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks very much! I believe I did mention where, but anyways all of them are in D1 with the exception of places near The War Remnants Museum which is in District 3. District 7 is OK to stay but you will need to take a taxi to get to the sites and you don’t necessarily save a lot of money staying there.

    How about doing exclusive videos just on District 3? And if you mention a Vietnamese area, also state it is District 3 or whatever. Give some specific real life examples of coffee shops or places to stay from your own personal experience. District 3 seems worthwhile for Westerners. Also state where is English-friendly, meaning the businesses that always have at least one English-speaking employee at any given time. And how the hell are Westerners supposed to do financial transactions and get access to more cash when they're not allowed to have a bank account? It's these everyday dealings that matter. Suggest tuc tuc taxi service that speak English if they exist.

    Some ideas and suggestions:
    I grew up in Da Dinh, pronounced Ya Dinh, near the threeway intersection with the Tennis courts (I don't know if it's still there), could you cover that area?
    I grew up in Do Tanh, pronounced Yau Tanh, near the traffic circle, could you cover that area?
    Could you also cover, Vung Tau; if you go to where the fishing boats are moored and at low tide, they are sitting on dry-beach. and Go North around the curve. There is a restaurant that has a driveway up, then down the other side. That use to be my Grandfather's house, we use to eat fresh oysters right off the rocks in front of that restaurant in the mornings; and then further north is the beachfront; my parents had a house there.
    Could you please cover both that restaurant and the beachfront in Vung Tau? Thanks
    And could you cover Da Lat?
    Thanks

    If you travel on budget, don't stay in District 1 since it is in the central city. Comparing to the rental prices in the USA, the rental prices at the center city are still much... much cheaper than ours event for Air BnB, or hostels. Believe it or not a 3-stars hotels in Vietnam are much better than ours.

    D1 has many nice midrange hotels in the $50-$60 dollar range as well as many clean, quiet and basic hotels in the $25-$35 range. Vietnam is awesome. Saigon has some great food but otherwise doesn't do much for me. Thanks for posting.
