- Pretty sure this was my second in shop video so not my greatest work. But just a few tips to set up gears I have learned over the years. Not a full in dept video on gear install, but just trying to show my few tricks I have run across over the years.

18:00 If i could give my younger self any advice on setting up a pattern it would be this. It’s very simple. All you do is center your drive side “contact patch” root to crown (bottom to top) by adjusting pinion depth. If the patch is flat on one side that means it’s off the edge of the tooth face and should be brought back to the center. And center the pattern heel to toe (left to right) with backlash. Nothing else matters.

Hello Just Dex It. I've got a Ford Ranger with a differential 4.10, the ring gear has 41 grooves and the pinion ten, the question is if this same ring gear can work smoothly with a eleven grooves pinion?
My press looks exactly like you're with a lil more rust because it also lives outside. Anyone knocking it doesn't know how that press will do just about anything you need it to😂
