My sister adopted a potcake puppy for her very hyper and loving 5 year old son. He's 7 now and best friends with Ginger. She's the most gentle, kindest pup that loves to play dress up and go on adventures. These puppies have so much love to give!

The fact that you paused your own much needed vacation to do more work just because you saw a sign needing help just shows how amazing you are as a person. Thank you SO much not only for your help bathing these cute puppies, but giving this rescue more attention. I imagine the beach walks also helping get more eyes on the pups and hopefully get more of them adopted.
Do you really think Vanessa would pass up the chance to get a pupper fix? As if! ;D Seriously, I'm not surprised she spent time 'working' on vacation. She's such a giving, caring person, loves what she does, and the sign is asking for people to do what she does for a living, so...yeah.

But the reward, all those kisses she got in return, made it so worthwhile.
I'm honestly surprised at how calm and unproblematic these dogs were during their bath time. I had two rescued mutts in the past and both of them absolutely hated water and hose. Let's just say that bathing them was... Troublesome event.
Also, my respect goes to these great people and all the work that they're doing. 👍
I imagine the fact that they have to be bathed so often probably helps
it's hot in the carribean! I'm sure they appreciate being able to cool off.
I rescued my own dog 3 years ago. He was already a senior, thoroughly and violently abused, with open bloody wounds, face had been obviously battered, with plenty of health issues, almost no fur and a sack of bones. I got home and I simply picked him up and plopped him on the bath and gave him a medicated warm shower (we rescued him during a winter storm, xmas eve). The easiest shower I ever gave him (I had never bathed a dog, nor owned one, for that matter). Now that he has been very acquainted with us and spoiled, he does behave at the groomers (he just wimpers and looks miserabled), but he'll headbutt me and growl if I try to put him in our own shower and he cowers away from hoses (even in the blazing mediterranean summer).
She said that those pups are bathed every morning so I guess this is why they were so calm and unproblematic during their bath :)
Vanessa did say that these puppies are bathed every morning. To those puppies, a bath is just a routine part of the day, not a scary, once in a lifetime or once in a very long while event (as it is for way too many dogs, including too many dogs who have permanent homes--think of all the dogs and cats that Vanessa gets who are matted or have totally compacted undercoat).
I rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed over 80 dogs--one of the things I did was give the fosters two or three baths a week until they were used to it and would stand still, knew "turn around," "hold still" (used to prevent shaking) and "shake!" Dogs that are easy to bathe and groom are more likely to stay in their homes and to be groomed and bathed on a regular basis because it is as easy as possible. If the owner can't do their own grooming/bathing (I was willing to adopt to disabled and elderly people at a time when the local shelter would not adopt to anyone with a disability and anyone over age 55), they never had to worry about any of the local groomers tacking on the 'difficult dog' fee.
You can always count on Vanessa and her better half to roll up their sleeves and get to work for animals in need, even on vacation! That's dedication and character right there folks. EPIC is all I can say! ♥🐶👏

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You are an absolute angel of a human being. This channel is on my Mount Rushmore of best, purest, most delightful and unpretentious channels in all of UA-cam. My cousin went to Beaches on Turks and Caicos and she did the walk and now has the pup she walked.
We took home a Potcake puppy 12 years ago and named her Caico. What a calm, gentle and loving dog! She had big paws and was a great crazy swimmer. Unfortunately, we lost her last week, and we are thinking about adopting another couple of Potcakes in her memory, once we recover over our loss of her. All potcakes deserve a place in heaven!
A potcake rescue is my dream.
So many need rescuing and adopting. My niece has a sweet❤ Sato dog from Puerto Rico. I travelled to Greece years ago and a momma dog followed me on a very hot day. All I could think about the rest of the trip was what could I have done for that poor momma? Supporting shelters/adopting- a good move.

Potcakes are super smart dogs. Incredibly loyal. Potcake Place does awesome work. A lot of the airlines to Providenciales have an agreement to fly the dogs to the USA and Canada free of charge.

Oh I was there 3 times. We came very very close to adopting one but didn’t have enough time to set everything up before leaving. It was also the most gorgeous place/beach I have seen. Enjoy!!!

Here in Poland the shelter near me accepts volunteers to take dogs out for walks during the weekends. I love the idea and I already took some out a couple times. If I lived in the city, it would probably be an every week tradition, but I need to rely on someone to drive me there. Still, it's amazing.

Visiting Potcake Place was a highlight of our trip to Turks and Caicos in 2019. We walked a very sweet pup named Tito, and sadly had to say goodbye after several hours of walking and playing. But we found out from their FB page that she found her fur-ever home with a family in Connecticut 🙂

I have a BFF who founded Island Dog Rescue, principally on St Croix, but extending their rescue and spay/neuter/care efforts to Puerto Rico and a number of other island communities. Island dogs are in need of a huge spay/neuter effort however it can happen. And the "Coconut Retrievers" from St Croix are just as sweet as these pups, too

My old man Jasper was a potcake. Had him for well over a decade. Jasper crossed the Rainbow Bridge last summer. Jasper and other potcakes were and are furry rays of dog-shine. Extremely loyal and loving. I miss my Jasper.
