Thank you for letting us know. I am glad he is doing well after his surgery. When I took my dog in for dental care at the age of 14, I was very glad for the routine testing they do before such procedures, as they picked up some elevated enzymes which indicated that the anaesthesia would be a bad idea.
It’s like Ace is playing keep-away with himself. He hides the ball and then goes to find it, and then barks at it like it’s alive. Maybe there’s a bit of a prey drive in it. Such a unique but adorable little guy. I’m glad he made it through the dental operation.

My little Heidi (RIP) was a Yorkie Pom mix. We had moles and field mice tearing up our yard. We lay traps and what not, she'd check them for us and would promptly go alert my dad when there was one. She LOVED to play with the local bunnies and quail. They didn't seem to mind. In fact, the bunnies felt so comfortable with her, that they would nest underneath my bedroom window. She would bring in baby bunnies and baby moles inside. Doesn't hurt them. It's "Lets go play inside. It's too hot out here". She sadly passed away a few years ago from the ripe old age of 15 via multiple health issues that included Alzheimer's (we thought she was going blind due to her behavior), deformed ribs and an enlarge heart. She was our favorite " little old lady". We had a mental image of her with a walker chasing after our youngest pup in a "get off my lawn!" way.
I find watching Ace with his blanket to be absolutely mesmerizing - I really feel like he’s on the verge of a huge breakthrough in quantum mechanics or similar -
He is adorable and obviously these are his security items to help him feel safe. Ace is a big personality in a little body. I wonder if his throwing up and pooping were down to anxiety, he needs his security blanket, and he gives off an air of anxiety which we know can produce many physical symptoms. The churning stomach and affects on your bowl is not fun 😶😳 It was endearing to watch his little feeties dance with his blankie. A pet psychologist might really help him. I have anxiety and see similarities with it in Ace.
Ya know... I've seen a LOT of crazy behaviors from a LOT of different dogs, but watching Ace lose his everloving mind when the ball wasn't under the blanket for him to continue to "find", might be the weirdest thing I've ever seen. 😂
I wonder if the ball is kind of a smaller dog / friend for him to play with and the blanket serves as an extension of the ball that Ace can hump (domination, stress release).

It would seem, Ace, that you have an insatiable drive to hide this spherical object from yourself followed by digging it out many times over. Maybe the terrier in you is triggered... subsequently you begin hunting proverbial rats 🧐
I reckon it mimicks hunting a small critter thats maybe burrowing. Like terriers were pred as vermin exterminators so I think thats related to it to some degree.
Honestly, he may not even know even if he could talk. People with OCD know that their behaviors aren't rational or even potentially harmful but the compulsion still remains. I do think the others in the comments bringing up terrier behaviors are onto something but understanding that doesn't solve the problems. Like in humans there isn't a clear cut answer as to why this happens, and there could be a number of factors at play. Often dogs with OCD can be helped with a combination of medications and behavioral intervention but not always or completely. It's a difficult thing to deal with.
What a cute little dude. And being honest, if a towel and a ball make him the happiest chap on Earth, then all power to him. We should all find our joy like Ace.
Why do I just want to watch Ace play with his ball and blanket? I could watch that for a good half hour. I'm sure it's not as fun when you're right there and can't turn the volume down when he barks but his little peets scampering around and his little tail going and his little body wriggling around are so adorable.
Not necessarily as it's good to toughen their gums up. My Chihuahua mix had half his teeth out and within a couple months was eating frozen chicken necks, feet and wings.
I knew a family with a West Highland White Terrier who did this. He would do it for hours on end, getting more and more excited the longer he did it. When the owners had enough and put the ball and towel away, he would bark and whine at the cupboard for about 30 minutes.

One of my favorite things is seeing a senior dog play like a puppy. My girl was 12 when she came to live with me (she was my grandpa's dog, they were absolutely soulmates) but she would play like she was a year old up until about 6 months before she passed. She was 15 and a half years old, the other dog in the house passed 6 months before she did and it really affected her... I miss them both so much!
Sorry for your loss 💕 I think it's lovely that you took in your grandpa's dog - a beautiful thing to do for both your grandpa and his soulmate pupper 💖🐾 We take on older rescues and you're absolutely right - it's so great to watch them forget their age and act like puppies again! Wishing you all the very best 👍
That's almost the same thing that happened with my little chihuahua. She was so playful until our other dog got hurt and ended up passing about a month later. She was never the same. I actually had to syringe feed her because she greived so hard for him that she stopped eating. She made it six more months and even had the energy to eat and go outside one more time before she passed. Still miss them.
OMG, the moonwalking. OMG, the burying and unburying the ball in the blanket. Ace is hours of entertainment in a teeny tiny package. I wish I could upvote this more than once. (IMO, all tiny dogs are neurotic messes, because their ancestral memory contains their wolfish forebears, who look at them and go "WTAF??" and that's a tough thing to hear in your ancestral memory all the time.) Do please let us know how Ace's dental appointment goes!
I was happy you let us watch Ace play for a few minutes. He is a 10 on the adorable scale!! He also is agile and has great energy for his age. He def acts like a much younger pup.
My papillon started having seizures at age 14 and the vet determined they were caused by bacteria from bad teeth affecting her brain. Once those teeth came out, the seizures entirely stopped and she lived to almost 17 with no more issues besides the usual old age stuff.
Aw I had a papillon for most of my life and we eventually had to put him down cause his health was declining so much cause of the constant kidney stones he would get
I am worried about this with my 15 yr old cat, but he has the same sort of disposition as Ace here and I worry the vet will be too much of a stress on him.
He looked like a little old man, all shivery and not at all happy. Fast forward to post groom, and he looks all cute and fluffy chasing his ball around and murdering his blanket like a two year old. I’m so glad that he came through the surgery well too.
Aww how is he eleven years old and so active and puppylike with his ball? That is one hale and healthy well-loved and well-cared-for berserk little gremlin doggo. Get better soon Ace ❤️
I 100% agree, I'd also say ASD, he's like the Sheldon of the dog world. I feel weird giving ideas for a possible diagnosis to a dog and the fact they contain the word 'disorder' none of us are disordered, we are just 'us'
I'm so glad to hear he's doing well. As a vet tech who performs the cleaning portion of dentistry, I can't tell you how much we appreciate a tidy face on a long-ish haired dog. It makes things so much easier to keep out of the way and clean up is by far much quicker.
My dog was a puppy mill mom and her teeth were rotten and falling out. They ended up pulling them all during her dental, and she has been doing so much better since then. She eats more, has fewer tummy issues, and is a lot more active. I am sure that Ace will be like a completely new dog once he recovers from his surgery! Editing to add: for anyone on the fence about getting their dog's rotten teeth pulled because they fear for their quality of life, please don't let that hold you back. Trust me when I say that your dog will prefer life without teeth to life with rotten, painful teeth. My dog spent about thirty minutes after bath time playing tug-of-war with a towel last night. Managed to snatch the towel from me and run off with it multiple times. Mind you, she is only 7.5 lbs! It took her a few weeks to figure out grabbing her toys and such without teeth, but she mastered it pretty quickly and is so much more comfortable now. She even still enjoys her Himalayan chews!
My cat had to have her teeth removed, which is fairly common for elderly. She’s SO much happier now, and still catches & kills mice when they make it into the house (I live in the country, so it happens).
@@auntlynnie animals are so much more resilient than we give them credit for. They have no trouble adapting to lost teeth or even to lost limbs. It's we humans who assume that these things are going to be detriments to them, because they would be much more detrimental to us. We tend to project far too many of our own physiological shortcomings onto our pets.
My cat had all his teeth removed right before he adopted him and it doesn’t hold him back at all! He eats dry food no problem (cats don’t really chew dry food with their teeth anyway), has tons of energy for a senior, and is absolutely adorable. His tongue just gets stuck in a blep sometimes :) and he will drool on you
Holy shit, Ace is the best dog ever. I love Melvin, I love Lupa, and I love Gidget, but there's something special about Ace that makes him the weirdest, funniest little nugget I've ever seen. I'm so glad to hear his surgery went well, may this little weirdo have all the blankets and balls he can dream of for being so strong during his tooth removal!!
Ace looks like he’s playing a combo, hide-n-go seek, hunter/gatherer. Funny when reprimands the ball!😂. Glad he’s well after surgery. I love a goofy pup!
I could sit and watch him play all day. You can tell that he’s happy. thank you so much for letting us peek into the life you have with this little man. I hope everything goes well with his teeth tomorrow.
I don´t find he looks happy, it´s really obsessive behaviour, as she says. If she didn´t stop him, he would probably get a heart attack, die of thirst or starve to death.
@@xXGwennexXx you can see he´s pretty calm at the beginning and becomes more and more stressed out. The crying he does is not fun, it's rather frustrated and distressed
I hope Ace feels better. Can relate on the "I did every test and he's fine". My pup has bilious vomiting syndrome and despite vomiting more than normal dogs he's 100% fine despite thousands of dollars worth of tests.
Aw....look at his sweet little face, he was trying so hard to be good for you during the blow dryer! What a sweet, wise old man. His coat is beautiful! The more nicknames you have, the more you love 'em. His final glamour shot was calendar-worthy! I've never seen a dog play like that, but who cares? Just look at that tail go, he is in his joy. Bury the ball Ace, bury the ball. Good boy!
I had a cat that got down to 4lbs (usually 9 lbs) because of her teeth/ my husband and I waited and waited on the full mouth extraction, afraid we’d compromise her quality of life. Boy were we ever wrong; post op she gained 5 lbs(!), ate dry food w/o a problem and lived 9 more years. I pray Ace has similar positive experience!!!
Same, my Chloe who LIVED for food had a horribly sore and bloody mouth before I realised how bad it was, only when she didn't dive for her food did I know something was wrong. I got her when she was 3, and I'm sure she never got her shots as a kitten because she was diagnosed with calicivirus. All of her teeth are out now, and she's back to being chubby, needs a diet😅
@@_yeojo dry food still fine once everything has healed up (at least for my cat). The stuff I get her is pretty small, so she doesn't need to chew on it as such - I was adding water to it initially but she doesn't seem to need it. While she was still sore I fed her baby and mother cat mousse. But now it's dry food in the morning, wet food at night
@@_yeojoMy dog didn't get all her teeth extracted, but most of her back teeth were. For the first 2 weeks we soaked and blended her food. The third week we just let it soak and get slightly soft. Once her gums were healed, she handled dry food just as good as before. It's been about a year and she's had absolutely no issues.
We had a similar dog for many years…wickedly intelligent, had several obsessive behaviors, did not read social signals from other dogs well. Wilbur was the best cuddler I’ve ever met too. ❤❤
Clearly Ace was desperately trying to explain to you the Off Side Rule using the ball and blanket as props - isn't it obvious?!!! 😄 I think Ace completely is adorable - thanks for the upload!
I’m happy to know that Ace is recovering well from his surgery. Hopefully he’s free of pain. I enjoyed watching Ace play with his ball, having a good time. His little tail was going 100 miles or kilometers an hour. Thank you for all you do for the furry children, for sharing your knowledge and these videos with us. 👍🏽👏🏽
Omg him and that ball with the towel!!! What a silly adorable little guy! He really goes nuts! Soooo grateful he’s ok 💝 my pup had her teeth pulled around 11 years too and when she recovered she was a whole new doggie! So much more energy and happiness. I was relieved. Toothaches are the worst - for all of us! May Ace live a long happy life as soft food king!
Ive just discovered your channel and am loving your videos. This one made me chuckle because in the vet industry theres a running joke that vet nurses (and yes I am one) always own dogs or cats with weirdest, most complicated or unusual illnesses or diseases - now I see that this is true for groomers as well😂😂😂 I'm glad little Ace is doing well after his dental.
I just have to say that I appreciate that Ace isn’t a perfect specimen. My super old shih-tzu sometimes is super rough. We had most of her teeth removed about 5 years ago and she got a new lease on life.
Well, he is so stinking cute it hurts. And I don’t know how you were interacting with him at the end on the table, but the little head tilt and the smile was just priceless. So glad he’s doing well.
Toooo cute! Ace reminds me of my Gizmo (now passed). She was a tiny less than 3 lb chihuahua. Picky food eater, independent, quirky, queen of the house. Quite the handful. Like your Ace. These little ones give so much joy! Long, happy life to Ace!
I hope Sir Ace does well after the surgery! Poor lil man!💗💗 I love how he looks at YOU when he's the one who hid the ball too well in the towell..hahaha
Ace & Melvin are my absolute favourites! Amusing, cute, crazy & lovable pups, they are very lucky to have such a wonderful, caring & devoted mum! ✨💙🐶💙✨🐶
I love that your channel has so many videos of you beautifully and responsibly cleaning huge, potentially dangerous dogs, but you yourself are a passionate gremlin mom
So glad Ace's surgery went well. While i love both of your channels, I would absolutely watch a third channel of nothing but ace playing with his ball and blanket. Love that little gremlin!
To all the pet owners who are grateful & happy when their pet (mine was a 3 kg cat) has put on weight of 100 gr: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! KEEP ON GOING - WE CHEER ON FOR YOU!! Thank you Girl - you are amazing!
I'll be honest, as someone keeping pretty small pets, this reads a bit funny. I know you mean celebrating when your pets put on a little weight because that's oftentimes already great progress when they're old, but if some of your pets don't even weigh those 100g or only weigh maybe 5 times that, 100g is A LOT lmao For comparison, I keep fancy mice and rats. My mice weigh between 30 g and 50g. My dwarf rats weigh just under 100g and my regular rats weigh between 300g and 500g. Here we already celebrate 5g weight gain for the mice and 10-15 for the rats haha
I So Enjoyed seeing little Ace He has such Sweet eyes & face His health history was very interesting to listen to Thanks All the best at the dentist little Ace! Also thank you for the extended video of Little Ace playing with the ball & towel ❤🐕
You have 2 very unique little dogs with Ace and Melvin. He is hilarious with the ball and blanket. Hope he gets through his surgery and recovers quickly quickly ❤
We have a rescue black cat. He went to the vet for dental work, and they ended up pulling all his teeth. He's a MUCH happier kitty. It can be expensive, and anesthesia is tricky for older dogs, but Ace's quality of life will be a lot better. Love watching him play!
This is the sweetest groom. That dog is so happy with the nonstop wagging tail. I loved watching him playing and hiding the ball under the towel is the best.
Ace is so precious and his quirks make him more so ! Our Rescue Tibbie 110% has OCD - he has to have things like his bedding and toys arranged in a particular way before he can let go of his anxiety. He will only poop when he's on a walk and never in our street. He has to lead the way up and down our spiral staircase. Tibbies are naturally stubborn and aloof dogs so we've learned to live with his eccentricities.
I currently have a tibbie. He’s our second & so different from the first. The first one was aloof & was definitely my dog, though my husband was his storm buddy. Henry, on the other hand loves everyone & thinks everyone should pet him. He knows which neighbors love him & will roll around in their yards if they aren’t outside. He was a stray & I still can’t believe no one claimed him.
You are so patient, I'm glad I found your channel. I'm happy your Ace is ok. My Rusty (a chihuahua terrer mix), who passed at 17 1/2, had only a few teeth (like 4 or 5) after his surgery, so a chew or bone was out of the question, but he loved to gnaw on corn cobs. He did make an god-awful mess, as he spit them out all over though!
Little Ace is extremely adorable, I am a huge fan of small breeds. Poor little thing, I feel better knowing he survived his dental surgery. I have 3 Chihuahuas ranging 3-5 pounds and they are my children as I don't have children. I can't imagine life without them. Best wishes little Acie, and much love, lots of hugs.
Ace is recovering well from his surgery, and he's officially my toothless wonder ❤. Thanks for everyone's concerns about him!!
Ace aced it. Soft food for life

(IMO, all tiny dogs are neurotic messes, because their ancestral memory contains their wolfish forebears, who look at them and go "WTAF??" and that's a tough thing to hear in your ancestral memory all the time.)
Do please let us know how Ace's dental appointment goes!
Casey, you made me laugh out loud!
I would like to know a shampoo for shedding she's Staffy / boxer mix and she sheds so much for a short hair
I was happy you let us watch Ace play for a few minutes. He is a 10 on the adorable scale!! He also is agile and has great energy for his age. He def acts like a much younger pup.
I love when he covers the ball with the blanket, he pauses and looks at her like, “See what I did, Mom? Isn’t that great?”
"mom, you're watching me, right?! WASN'T THAT SO COOL!?!" 🤣🤣
The little tippy taps 😂❤❤
Little tiny dude just shaking like a leaf!! Hugs to Ace!!
I love the Girl With The Dogs and her neurologically challenged dogs
My papillon started having seizures at age 14 and the vet determined they were caused by bacteria from bad teeth affecting her brain. Once those teeth came out, the seizures entirely stopped and she lived to almost 17 with no more issues besides the usual old age stuff.
Aw I had a papillon for most of my life and we eventually had to put him down cause his health was declining so much cause of the constant kidney stones he would get
Wow! 😮❤🐕
I am worried about this with my 15 yr old cat, but he has the same sort of disposition as Ace here and I worry the vet will be too much of a stress on him.
Ace is so cute playing with his ball and towel!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That is so adorable the way Ace plays with his ball and blanket. Such a unique personality! He certainly doesn’t act like he’s 11 years old. ❤️
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist9 Hush up troll. Have some manners.
Appears Ace requires a lot of mental stimulation. Such a fun doggo.
@@acc4586 There is so much joy in his play
it’s his own Olympic game lol
He’s also simply trying to train his ball to go bed 😅
He looked like a little old man, all shivery and not at all happy. Fast forward to post groom, and he looks all cute and fluffy chasing his ball around and murdering his blanket like a two year old. I’m so glad that he came through the surgery well too.
Aww how is he eleven years old and so active and puppylike with his ball? That is one hale and healthy well-loved and well-cared-for berserk little gremlin doggo. Get better soon Ace ❤️
As someone with properly diagnosed OCD, I can say that yes, Ace definitely has some OCD of his own. But he's so adorable! I wish him a fast recovery!
I 100% agree, I'd also say ASD, he's like the Sheldon of the dog world. I feel weird giving ideas for a possible diagnosis to a dog and the fact they contain the word 'disorder' none of us are disordered, we are just 'us'
I’m honestly wondering if he doesn’t have doggy autism.
@@angiehaddington6462agreed!! ✨️ brains/beings are allowed to be different. humans love labeling things 😂
I'm so glad to hear he's doing well. As a vet tech who performs the cleaning portion of dentistry, I can't tell you how much we appreciate a tidy face on a long-ish haired dog. It makes things so much easier to keep out of the way and clean up is by far much quicker.
You sound like a great Tech, and dog lover !
Ace and Melvin are both so cute! I didn’t realize that I had such a soft spot for tiny dogs until I saw these videos.
Does she have the flopping tongue issue now? My little rescue is missing her front teeth and her tongue slowly creeps out while she sleeps! 😍
@@madwhitehare3635 yes. She had a long tongue to begin with, so now it's always hanging out. Just adds to her cuteness!
I can tell how much you love him. You're so much quieter and soft spoken in this video. I'm glad to see he's doing well post-op.
You gotta admit, seeing how happy it makes him to play ball, has to make you smile. That little tail is nonstop !
Oh my goodness! He is just precious! I can't believe he's 11 years old! The way he's playing he seems more like 11 months. I just love Mr. Ace!
@@szasza3273 Something can be both obsessive and fun at the same time. Kinda like a tweaker on meth. They’re having fun but it’s still obsessive.
@@szasza3273Yeah she has stated in a previous video that he will do it until he passes out if she doesn’t take it away
I love the way he covers his ball with the towel then rolls it around. He is precious.
Good boy!
That tail could propel a helicopter!
@@CraftyZanTub Totally! What a cutie!
All of her teeth are out now, and she's back to being chubby, needs a diet😅
i'm curious about these all-tooth-extraction things, how do they eat kibble after that? do they chew with their gum? is this applied to cat too?
@@_yeojo dry food still fine once everything has healed up (at least for my cat). The stuff I get her is pretty small, so she doesn't need to chew on it as such - I was adding water to it initially but she doesn't seem to need it. While she was still sore I fed her baby and mother cat mousse. But now it's dry food in the morning, wet food at night
@@okamanokama oh, thanks, i need this info just in case
@@_yeojoMy dog didn't get all her teeth extracted, but most of her back teeth were. For the first 2 weeks we soaked and blended her food. The third week we just let it soak and get slightly soft. Once her gums were healed, she handled dry food just as good as before. It's been about a year and she's had absolutely no issues.
He is adorable with his blanket & ball!❤
We had a similar dog for many years…wickedly intelligent, had several obsessive behaviors, did not read social signals from other dogs well. Wilbur was the best cuddler I’ve ever met too. ❤❤
Clearly Ace was desperately trying to explain to you the Off Side Rule using the ball and blanket as props - isn't it obvious?!!! 😄 I think Ace completely is adorable - thanks for the upload!
😂😂😂
Omg, Ace is hilarious playing with his ball and blanket. Too cute 🥰
that look he gives you at 7:48 is so incredibly adorable, he was saying "why are you doing this to me? I love you!"
He's so darn adorable. His tail is going a mile a minute, and his talking to his ball 😍❤
He is so cute - look at his tail! Never a dull moment with Ace!
Ace is a HOOT..and a courageous canine. I LOVE ACE.❤
Look at his small self with that ball and towel! He is officially nuts and I love him! Hope his surgery goes well xxx
I'm glad that Ace is recovering well. Good for him. Toothless wonder, or not, he's so cute! Thank you for uploading. :)
He is so happy with his ball and his blanket. I wish we all could experience life this way
Ace & Melvin are my absolute favourites!
He is SO Adorable 😍 and doesn't act like an 11 year old doggie when he's playing ❤❤❤
Aww, Ace, I have OCD too. It's a hard knock life for us. Glad your surgery went well!
I know you mean celebrating when your pets put on a little weight because that's oftentimes already great progress when they're old, but if some of your pets don't even weigh those 100g or only weigh maybe 5 times that, 100g is A LOT lmao
For comparison, I keep fancy mice and rats. My mice weigh between 30 g and 50g. My dwarf rats weigh just under 100g and my regular rats weigh between 300g and 500g. Here we already celebrate 5g weight gain for the mice and 10-15 for the rats haha
Vanessa you are a gem of a Mom to your pups
It appears Ace is trying to play a shell game (with himself)…so stinking cute!! ❤️❤️❤️🐕🐶
Ace is such a brave boy in the wind tunnel of fear! I cant get over how cute he is!
I So Enjoyed seeing little Ace
He has such Sweet eyes & face
His health history was very interesting to listen to
Thanks
All the best at the dentist little Ace!
Also thank you for the extended video of Little Ace playing with the ball & towel
❤🐕
You have 2 very unique little dogs with Ace and Melvin. He is hilarious with the ball and blanket. Hope he gets through his surgery and recovers quickly quickly ❤
The ball and blanket play may be one of cutest things I've ever seen. Glad he's recovering well!
Ace is absolutely adorable. He is hilarious with his ball and blankie.
Glad his surgery went well.
You can't spell "Menace" without Ace! Seriously, maybe he's lucky that something as simple as a ball and a blanket makes him so happy.
That’s the sweetest face! I loved watching him play ball!
We have a rescue black cat. He went to the vet for dental work, and they ended up pulling all his teeth. He's a MUCH happier kitty. It can be expensive, and anesthesia is tricky for older dogs, but Ace's quality of life will be a lot better. Love watching him play!
Ace is such a cutie. He looked so dapper after his grooming.
Ace is a wild man with the ball and towel!
I love Ace, he's hilarious please put him on the channel more often. Glad to hear he's ok from the surgery.
Keep us informed how Ace will do after surgery.
This is the sweetest groom. That dog is so happy with the nonstop wagging tail. I loved watching him playing and hiding the ball under the towel is the best.
I'm so glad he got to have a happy ball play session after his groom and before his surgery. ❤
Ace playing with his ball and blanket is so adorable! He has a lot of personality!
Cute little pup! Love the personality!
Ace is definitely a "squirrely" little dog! Good luck Ace with your dental - once you recover, you will feel SO much better!
Ace you are a sweetie! You have a loving owner watching out for you.
