Traveled on I-83 South into Baltimore from Lancaster/York, PA. Best view of Baltimore by far! Thanks for this video, as well as all of your other videos! Really appreciate it!
Wow, I don't recall ever seeing this?? I remember you doing a northbound video (which I commented on), but this is even better, because of the great Baltimore skyline view at the end of the video. Man, I miss driving the JFX; it's a pretty unique freeway in urban American. Maryland's done a great job at keeping that freeway in great shape, despite its age. "Thumbs Up!"
@FreewayBrent Thanks, I totally agree, it is a neat freeway that has been well maintained. I drove it once before it was upgraded and extended in to downtown and there were some interesting and subtle differences back then that I wish I could have photographed. It's also fun as hell to drive!
I grew up in the Area where the Pepsi Sign is, and remember them building the JFX. In 1970 when I first got my Drivers Licence, my Father fobidded me to drive the JFX because it was too dangerous. For many Years the Highway was nicknamed the Jones Falls Deathway. Since then it has been improved, but the Curves between Cold Spring La., and 28th St./Druid Park Dr., are still very dangerous. The Jersey Wall is full of marks from where Cars didn't make it around the curve. Thanks for the Video Jim
I remember when they built the jfx i was just up the hill on park heights BALTIMORE Westside across the jfx east bmore was dangerous back in the day if you want to die go there ty freeway jim for video
There have been proposals to tear the section of the Jones Falls Expressway from Baltimore Penn Station to East Fayette Street down, and convert it into either a Boulevard, or a Riverwalk, or even both. Either proposal would daylight the long covered Jones Falls, which winds through Baltimore, and can only be seen on bridges, and after East Fayette Street to where it empties into the Inner Harbor (Mr. Trash Wheel, and the Northwest Branch Patapsco River).
IMO, Interstate 390 in NY should be re-designated as Interstate 83 then, going south, 83 merges with I-86 and then it follows the path of what is currently I-99 and US 15 which goes into PA.
Haven't driven inbound 83 from 695 before! Glad now too! :) How does it end there, the video cuts off when you take the center-right lane... are the backed up left and left-center lanes queueing at a traffic light at a at-grade intersection?
Ahh yes, Baltimore: The ass-backward city with 4 mainline interstate highways (2 of them being multi-state major thoroughfares, and 1 of them being just 17 miles long and not connecting to any mainline), that don't connect to one another.
I know this route all too well. I take it every day to work! Ahhhh great ride too!

Yes, the road continues as a boulevard for a few miles, check it on Google Earth, you get a nice perspective of it.
@thatandthatstudios No, I drive an Acura TL and an Acura MDX (SUV).
@thatandthatstudios lol, It's not that bad.
