Thanks for uploading this. We travel often to the US and during this summer all flights were cancelled due to a storm on the east coast. We had to drive from Newark to Orlando and this highway brought me so many memories. The euphoria of being in my favourite country cannot be described. The food we had with us, the darkness of the night, the cars, the police. We felt like we were in a movie.
A beautiful and smooth drive on I-95 in Baltimore. 7:45 is where I-83 was supposed to split off from I-95 and run parallel to Boston Street, tunnel under the Inner Harbor, run along the present course of Presidents Street and link up with itself at Fayette Street; and 14:12 is where I-70 was supposed to split off from I-95 and run through Gwynns Falls Park and eventually meet up with itself at Security Boulevard.
@@PGHammer21A I can kind of see why the cancellation of I-83 happened because of its track through Fells Point. I-70 was more feasible but environmentalists hated its track through the park. Building I-70 through there would have eased traffic on I-695 on the southwest side.
Love ❤️ this Mike, eastern avenue exist is where I got off to my job at durrett Sheppard steel company ,I worked there for 25 years and loved every minute of it. Moved back home on the eastern shore 2009 loving retirement all thanks to Durrett Sheppard steel company. Mr Danny Sheppard and Mr George Durrett the great owners. Appreciate
I love how they have those separate speed limit signs for the express lanes and the general-purpose lanes, on one pole attached to the concrete barrier at the start of this video (0:03, as well as 3:21). We could use that type of signage in the DFW area, considering that our express lanes actually have higher speed limits than our general-purpose lanes; typically our express lanes are posted 10 MPH higher than the GP lanes (example: GP lanes 65 MPH, express lanes 75 MPH). DFW express lane speed limit signs do say "express lanes" above them, but they are often posted on the concrete barrier separating the general-purpose lanes from the express lanes, rather than in the middle of the express lanes.
As always, GREAT VID Mike! Watch out for the Tunnel Police! 55mph!! Yes, there is a Tunnel Police force and they patrol the approach roads too… (think they’re part of port authority?) Along with State, Baltimore County and Baltimore City police…👮♀️👮👮♂️👮♀️🚔🚔🚔🚔! PS: All you Cannabis users, Open Joints on Bridge!!
Currently (8/25 11.23 AM Eastern) 95 is closed both directions north of Baltimore due to a crash. Which is more typical than your easy drive. I commuted 30 miles of 95, for 35 years. That interchange at 695 took 11 tears to build.
What a difference between Balto. County roads and Balto. City. FYI, you practically drove right past my house. A right hand turn onto 695 and about three miles down.

That's where you'll get great views of the downtown Baltimore skyline and the harbor .. pretty cool and awesome! Miss them ole days!

And those are why they were opposed - community opposition.
Still, Interstate 95 through Baltimore - as it is - is a fantastic alternative to the Harbor Tunnel Thruway - which is why I chose it my last trip.

A shame neither were built, especially I-70.
