Come along as we head to the wash for THE FIRST RIDE EVER! Alan and Blake are breaking a horse and a nervous mom watches. What happens...watch and see!
I had faith in Blake’s ability after seeing him work with Spirit. I think Blake just has that special connection with animals, at least horses. I don’t think Blake would have done it if he didn’t think he & the horse were ready. It is enjoyable watching father & son working together to accomplish a goal. Congrats to Blake on the sale of that beautiful horse. Happy Father’s Day, Allen. Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸👍❤️🐴😊🙏🙏🙏
Old jeans filled to the knee with sand thrown over the saddle. Lunge in the round pin or with a lead on the ground. This method has save both my horse and me a ton on injuries.
I fully understand what you are going thru Vicki but surely you can see your son has a natural talent around horses and he is very good and calm with them, he has got it!
Wow.. I really am impressed. Great timing on your sons part. Like he has been training horses all his life.. really amazing! Great horseman great family and finally great little colt! Gd! Glad I pushed play

What part of Arizona are yall in? I'm up in golden valley! Good work with the colt. A little fast but your son has a good eye for when to back off and let the horse think!
A good idea when cinching colts is if you tighten the cinch move there feet. The rule I follow when starting colts is if I change anything , and I mean anything I then move their feet. Usually lunge them. That way they can express their self and when you go to get on they dont have that bottled up emotion that they still want to express. But ponying a colt is a great way to handle them and it gives the horse that is less self confident something to follow.
I just found your channel and I'm loving your videos, I have subbed and so did my friends after I showed them also! I live in Tucson AZ so not to far away, I absolutely love animals so I really enjoy your videos anyway thank you for sharing your videos and GOD Bless!!!♡
I wd have definitely done more ground work with this horse before mounting him; its hard on the horse if enough ground work is not done first to defuse the mounting n going forward scenario; but its not terrible. yes ive had several horses...also when breaking in young horses a helmet is a MUST for safety. a relative of mine insisted on wearing a felt cowboy hat while riding his older calm gelding but the horse spooked or tripped and he was thrown against a metal bar fence exactly like in this clip and ended up with permanent brain damage. so preventable!!
Maybe this pony will go on to live with a lady who appreciates the importance of ground work. If only more horse ladies would buy horses like this, maybe there'd be fewer horses at auction for the meat market
@@TheFarmonRoute66 only just got your reply today! no he has not recovered; he can converse and get a job, but the brain damage is pretty evident. hes definitely not the same person. so sad so preventable. common sense. but will his wife make the kids wear helmets on horses? NOPE!!! im speechless....
Lauren As an Australian equestrian everyone here wears helmets, you can’t compete without one and you need them to be in date and a certain quality grade. You can’t ride at barns without them, so almost everyone naturally does it here, I know its the same in the UK. I always find it odd watching American riders since most don’t wear them and really respect Fallon Taylor for doing so after she broke her neck but gob smacked she openly gets hate from other riders for wearing one barrel racing. It’s up to others what they do, but I could never ride without one
Is no one gonna talk about that bay mare? She did 50 times better than mine every will in that situation. Great job raising/making that horse (If you didnt get her like that alreay)
Oh my gosh be careful Blake I agree with Vicky that horse may need more ground work . I used to hat the first ride or many rides on some them 🐎 horse. My son had a love for horses 🐎I hated him to work with the very green lol 😆 But they usually worked out . Scared 🙏🙏I'm with you Vickey congratulations. Good job Blake and Allen .
That colt looks just like mine. He even used to be a stud and it makes me wonder. Same size, disposition, same shade of palomino, and nearly the same markings. So strange, its said that every person on earth has someone that looks just like them.
The dad should dally the halter lead rope on the right side of the bay horse...ground work is good but the horse also needs to feel the rider weight on his back...then go back to ground work...back and forth...horse will be more relaxed...
Well at least they are in the soft sand of the wash, better landing if he goes off. Also having the other horse there and a lead on the beginner horse might be safer than if he was out there alone with the new horse? I don't know as I am no expert. All I do know is I would rather fall off in soft sand than get thrown in a pen and landing on the panels or the hard ground. horse conversation at first: Paint to Bay, hey buddy save me from this will ya! Little later: Paint says to Bay, well if you are ok I guess I am ok, just stay close please! Having a calm horse with a rider seems to be working psychologically for the Paint. MOM, that is what we do worry about our kids getting hurt, but honestly today's shenanigans are probably less dangerous than playing football. So many young players and even professionals get head injuries in football even with all the gear they use. Blake only puts the his boot in the stirrups up to the ball of HIS foot, that way he is much less likely to get dragged IF this new colt decides to freak out. Bay to Paint: see I told you it was no big deal!
it would be a little moer better for yall if you graved the beginning of the lead rope with your right hand and made coils like on a rping rope and ponied like that
Why you live in the same state as I do. Maybe someday we can meet one another. I recently got a free horse and my brother rode him for the first time as he does with all the horses I get. Wish I could share my pics of the horse with you.

we dont have that horse anymore so not sure
That back cinch on the bay horse is bugging me... Ughh!

Typical with roping saddles and common with western
Because they're using one, or because it was loose enough to get a foot in?
Yes...yes it does need more groundwork.

Whoever buys him can do that.
