I own the Giulia Quadrifoglio. I did various road trips from London to Scotland. London to Germany and on to Switzerland. London Switzerland again. And a big one from London to Norway. I had not a single issue with regards to reliability. It simply runs perfect.
@@petroa.9134 i have the paddle shift version. the sound yes can be a bit underwelming below 3000 rpm but then it sounds great especially with manual upshifts. I did read a lot about the brakes and all the comments are the same that because of the brake by wire system the feeling isn't the best. Well i agree but you get used to it very quick and for me it isn't an issue. I have the ceramic brakes and they great. However they need to be warmed up especially when wet. The ZF gearbox is very good too. However as an direct replacement for a S class? i am not so sure. Giulia needs attention when driven while an S class drives itself really.
I couldn't agree more. The Giulia QV is brilliant, from the track, to road trips to being a grocery getter.
I'm on my seecond Giulia Quadrifoglio - also no issues from me on either car. In fact, I came BACK to Alfa on this second QV, so that I could have a fun car to use for roadtrips with the family. I have no concerns about reliability based on my own experience. I'm actually working on documenting my QV ownership on my channel
I have one too, no issues, apart from the occasional alarm going off, it’s Italian! Mine is 2018 before the particular filter, sounds amazing. I’ve tracked it too.
Same here, mine has done London to Germany twice now and it's been faultless. Cruise in good comfort across, then hit up Hockenheim and the Nürburgring and whilst you´re there it´s a perfect daily.
Beautiful scenes, Italy, Alfa Romeo, sunshine, life is really good and with lot of smiles per gallon.
I drove my Stelvio on the Stelvio pass 3 weeks ago ( before the snow ) early in the morning without traffic in a sunny day and I tell you... I am in love with my car ( even if not the Quadrifoglio version ). I say hello from Italy to everybody who loves italian way of life.

In 8.5min Luke perfectly summed up my 1.5yr ownership of my 2018 Giulia Quadrifoglio. I absolutely love my Alfa! From the way she sounds, to the way she drives on winding country roads. Also, just like a human, she gets sick from time to time but nothing a visit to the doctors office can’t fix. And now I can’t wait to add a Stelvio Quadrifoglio to my garage!
The cinematic shots in the intro gave this an inviting feel. That exhaust sound is just amazing, loved the car. Btw, I like your approach on car reviews- it draws a viewer into the moments of actually driving the car.

I love Alfa Romeos.
But the Stelvio just doesn't do it for me.
It's just another pointless SUV in my opinion.
I'd rather go for a Giulia.
But I don't like most SUVs.
And if I wanted a SUV then I´d go for something that really can go offroad.
A Defender, Wrangler the new Bronco or something like that with a lift kit and minimum 38" tires on it.
And preferably room in the back for a motorbike and a bike for cycling.
But keep up the good work.

@@carswithluke yeah. I've only tried a 1990s Defender some years ago. Horrible to drive but it had a liftkit, big tires, and a few other offroad bits so it looked cook and could get to anywhere you wanted. And we needed it to get to a cabin in the mountains here in Norway in the middle of the winther with no real road up to it.
Why on earth would a SUV be pointless ???? If you need an easy access car and a one to move stuff around on a regular basis and beat any other SUV (V6 and most of the V8's) in the world from 0-100 kms/h ...... this SUV is the best buy !! The Giulia QV is beautiful, but not practical at all , not easy to get in and out of and is slower than the Stelvio (0-100 kms/h ....;-)))) and isn't AWD.
Here in Rome is full of Stelvios, unfortunately not the quadrifoglio version :(
Rome is still one of the few Italian cities I have never visited yet sadly
Excellent review but I wonder why every reviewer feels compelled to mention the cliche "reliability" concerns with Alfa but somehow the very unreliable BMW, Mercs, Porsche and Audi seem to fly under the radar ?

Living in Michigan I’ve often thought, do I get rid of the Evo, the 335i Coupe, and the 328ix wagon, and sink all of the money into a used one of these with the carbon buckets? Could it be the perfect do it all vehicle? I much prefer cars to SUV’s but if I’m going to have just one car...
You don't need the Acra with this car. The stock exhaust sounds just as good!

Unfortunately it’s not only in the US. I’m with my second Stelvio Diesel after a hassle free experience with the first one and still have to answer reliability questions from my acquaintances. FCA should do a greater effort to promote the quality of these cars. They’re not only fantastic to drive, but also no headache at all for ownership. But it also depends on the stupidity of the customers I believe .....
That fart on every upshift would get old really quickly for me 😅

You can either deal with the problem of boredom every single minute you drive other cars/SUVs or you can deal with an Alfa problem IF it comes up and have a great drive every single minute of your life. I know what I would rather choose.

I think the car is beautiful and exciting, but I really don’t like those artificial exhaust farts. Sadly, almost all modern sports cars do it these days🤦♂️
I'm with you 100%.
The “farts” actually are caused by excess fuel being burnt in the exhaust pipe, it is a by product of most dual clutch transmissions, it isn’t an artificial sound.

Thanks and yeah the sound isn’t for everyone, maybe I just really liked it after nearly all other cars in 2020 being totally silent now, was just so happy to hear something again.

I have a regular Stelvio sport in Misano blue. The handling is nothing short of pasta. When my lease is up, I am 100% going for the QV. And, yeah, the brake-by-wire system is awful - brakes feel so goddamn vague and numb - not a fan at all.

The brakes are actually fly-by-wire they get a bit of time to get used to.
The Stelvio sounded just like it's Twin-cam 1960 Giulietta Spider counterpart.

Is the sound different in race mode vs dynamic ?
What about this sound at high engine speed ?
Yeah in dynamic mode it only opens later on so to fully hear it you have to have it in race mode then it stays always open. In neutral mode its totally quiet.
weird question maybe but what are the loading space dimensions with the backseats down? Just wondering if you could fit a matras in it.
