Yes! Always going above and beyond to the point of personal exhaustion, just to forget one ketchup packet or not bring in the correct soda and be called a worthless POS who doesn't care about them and what they need... But you only forgot because you had a pt down the hall screaming for a loved one that died 40 years ago, and another needing assistance on the toilet to have their first BM in 3 days...
It sounds like you gave them the best care anyone could have and made their last days on earth as special as possible. 😇🙏 We need more nurses like yourself who don’t just care but are caring. ♥️
wow, so powerful. it's hard not to cry watching this. My dad died about a year ago. I am so grateful for all the healthcare staff who took care of him in his final hours. They are true heroes to me. Sometimes angels walk among us. I am so grateful for their compassion and dedication.
my arms hurt for moving patients my legs ache for being standing up during a blue code my eyes are red for being awake during nightshift my phone is saturated with unreplying messages because I was delivering a miscariage patient to the nearest GO especiality hospital wich is 2 hours from my town but im not tired. As long as there people that need me, I wont be tired...
@@kingdomthings9887 I just hope 1 day when I'm traveling back from my hospital to my town an hour and a half away that...I'll soon have my rest...on the side of the road covered in holy light.
This video reminds me of how as a nurse, we used to be allowed to be "caring", not just to give "care". The demands we now face don't allow for "caring". New nurses are taught "care" not "caring".
Not true. I was shown this video during a lecture by my nursing school professors. Many many nursing schools show this video and teach caring above care.
Hi Helen! I am late to this party, but I can say five years later that nursing schools today are absolutely teaching caring, in addition, to care as we navigate a post covid, understaffed world. I am really sorry for any negative experience you may have had in the past with your nurses, and I hope that we can make it up to you moving forward
I really like this video, because I know how difficult the task of health workers never stops providing good service to cure patients. especially elderly patients who remind their own parents, such as we serve and pay for everything parents have given. I like all parents in the world 💕
I love to be caring but often I'm squeezed just to give care. I'm going to continue keep the passion of being a caring person to fellow workers and service users. I love nursing but it hurts when some colleagues treat you and service users as numbers.
This video reinforces the need for nurses to continue striving for caring. In our profession as nurses, we are constantly faced with new challenges and situations. Even when times are challenging, we must remain committed to providing the highest quality care possible for our patients. We must keep pushing and never give up on our patients. The care we give to others will always be a keepsake in their hearts. We must never forget the power of compassion and the importance of providing support to our patients. We must keep striving for excellence and remain dedicated to helping those in need.
We are all so blessed to have jobs here but even more so, we are part of a huge family and how we care for those members of our family is up to us. What an amazing and wonderful reminder-I agree with Cara-show us more videos like this to help spread the message!
Our video is now a finalist in the DoGooder National Video Awards for Best Non Profit Video. Voting is now open to the public (one vote per account per day). We would love it if you could please cast your vote for our video! You can view more about the awards and vote here - bit.ly/1Q6BwN8 Thank you so much!
This is a touching story/video. My personal families experience unfortunately was not as 'caring'...or even based on good practice of 'care' for my uncle in emergency or in Robbin's...for the most part, I know it's not really the staff of RAH that is responsible, it is the healthcare system cut- backs working the employees ragged.
My daughter was one of the actresses in this film. When she was called in to work on this film, she had been sleeping beside her very ill grandma, in the chair beside her hospital bed, for two weeks, and had taken on her full time care at home for two years prior. It was real and raw to her.
This is very touching! i hope ud allow me to the permission to use this clip for my project. Credits will surely be implied. Thank you so much! Godbless!
i can't be the only one who felt like they had a fever dream and don't know what the hell this video was about if anyone sees this comment can you please explain I'm reading the comments and i genuinely have no idea
Edmontonians are just like this, if they know the difference between care and caring, then they would see that knowing is distracting and stressful so they avoid it, just look at the Hope mission sidewalks.
Unusual 'magical' stories are nice, but how about consistent quality improvement and ensuring basic care and caring always occurs? Getting the basics of care right isn't heart warming or feel-good, and doesn't make a moving video clip- but it means the world to patients and families. My experience of the Royal Alex is that the basics are woefully lacking and inconsistent. I now lecture in nursing, and will use this video for critical discussion on the disparity that exists in caring environments.
Hi Amanda, thank you for your comment. This video was originally created as an internal video for our hospital staff, to remind us of why showing compassionate care is just as important as medical care, especially to the patients and their families. It was the start of an active movement at the hospital, lead by management, to provide the support that patients and staff need to be able to provide a patient-centred environment and exceptional patient care. The story was based on two real patients and the care they received at the Royal Alex and where the love story behind the story is truly magical, it is certainly not a one off story at our hospital. Thanks so much and have a great day.
I also teach nursing. The instructors here teach basics and teach them well. However, basics without humanity is not nursing. Anyone can be taught to do skills. It takes someone special to view doing those skill as an honor and a privilege. It takes a caring, compassionate, well-taught NURSE.
As in any occupation there are good and bad .if you lose your compassion and caring for your job ,get out .I've experienced good nursing for my elderly relatives ,but it seems with the covid around not so good ....
i will literally move mountains for my patients.
Literally??
Literally?
Me too

These were my patients up until they passed away. I cry every time I watch this video
It sounds like you gave them the best care anyone could have and made their last days on earth as special as possible. 😇🙏 We need more nurses like yourself who don’t just care but are caring. ♥️
it's so touching to see that people don't only go to work to WORK but to CARE as well.

So proud of the RAH staff that I work with every day.

My teacher emphasis caring above all
this is not true at all. i am currently in nursing school and all of our teachers teach about caring often more than just care

I literally cried watching this video, very heartwarming...
This deserves an oscar. After seeing this video, I can proudly state this as soon to be a nurse, it is a privilege position and hard working job.
This is so touching! Wish everyone could experience love like this at some point in their life!!

Its not harder to do the right thing. What a difference it makes to all those involved. Well done!!!!!
Am I seeing this right? A KAREN ACTUALLY DOING A GOOD DEED FOR THE COMMON GOOD?

I have joined recently joined to this service. Sure I deliver my best to the patient with my skills and knowledge..

It is so touching, for you to listen people's stories from there you understand their happiness and worries.

Beautiful story!
Incredible display of storytelling. Were these actors? Or all a true story captured during natural moments?
