    At some point I'm going to have to stop watching these beaver trapping videos and get some work done! So addicting!

      I agree. And I don't even trap for beavers yet this early on in my trapping days here.

    Scott, please start using setters. Take it from me. I used to set 330s by hand too.... until the arthritis set in. I have been trapping for 57 years and chasing beaver with 330s since 1974 when I bought my first Victors. It was easy to set them...in the beginning but as the years clicked off it became more difficult. Now my hands and elbows curse me for my youthful bravado.

      It's to late, I already have arthritis. In my hands and knees. The life of a trapper. Thank you!

      I feel that, I'm only 30 and my joints are shot...mostly from logging, but I'm sure those cold mornings and icy water and wrestling traps doesn't help much

    Lol I couldn’t live with out arm length gloves now my arthritis would kill me lol . But many many many decades of putting in 330s bare handed and then grabbing a old towel stuffed in my front of my waders and dry off and stuff back in my gloves 🧤! Funny how great things has changed for the better versus 40 years ago to keep us warm ! And dry !

    Could possibly try using a 280 connibear for the smaller runs. I haven't tried them yet, not sure how strong they are.

    • @critterman5488
      @critterman5488 2 роки тому

      280s are stronger than 330s and are great for narrow runs. In some of the states I trap a 330 has to be completely submerged so you have to set in at least 10 inches of water but 8.5 inch traps are legal above water line. I've literally caught 100s of beaver in 220s with the wires cut off the triggers and only using the tab. 220 caught beaver are.caught by the neck and expire at least as fast as those in 330s and in most cases faster. If you are after the fur there is also far less chance of fur damage.

      280s are a great trap and work well in those smaller runs. They are a good strong trap

    Haven't double checked yet (watching as I'm working on things), but I'd love to see how you set beaver snares. Also, if I put up a vid of what is going on with my pond and the attached beaver pond would you be able to take a look at it and give me some pointers?

      @@330Maniac ok interesting. central alberta it might get close to 5 feet thick by end of winter. amazing how these critters can keep the ice that thin throughout the year. And i have trapped rats in one foot of water and wonder how many of them even make it. dried up this year tge muskrats been wandering trying to find water.
