Just performed this operation on my girlfriend's 2006 xA -- Your video was an invaluable tool! Really appreciate the editing you did to emphasize some of the more subtle details. Thank you!
I bought two motors and both of them as soon as I plug them in they just keep moving. No down just up and when I take my finger off the switch it just keeps going.
best how to video I've ever seen, no messing around, easy to understand, professional method. thanks very much , I've got the same problem you just fixed.
Your video helped me get the job done!!!! There is another scion xa video that is helpful on UA-cam, but you knew hacks that helped me get the job done and the video is very well made and I love that you talked me through it. Thank you!!!!
Haha! The blessings of editing! I have done this job multiple times which helps. Make sure to pause the video where you need extra time, and tell us all if you discover any new tips/tricks!!
Great video. I'm doing this repair on a friends 2006 Scion xA. Unfortunately, Amazon had the wrong description for the one I ordered so I ordered the wrong side. I'm ordering a different one through Autozone since I don't have time to wait for a replacement from Amazon. My question is that I didn't make note of the motor in relation to the teeth on the regulator before removing the motor. Does it matter where I mount the motor in relation to the regulator? Thanks.
That’s a good question, it doesn’t matter because you will need to move the regulator/motor to get it in the right place to attach the bottom of the glass anyway. Triple check the autozone part before you leave the store (against the vin or the license plate of the vehicle) as they are known for dishing out the wrong parts. Good luck with this job!
@@GirlieGarage Thanks. I had watched another YT video prior to yours and was able to go back and look at how many teeth on the regulator were showing on each side of where the motor was mounted and so I set mine like his and it worked. Luckily the Autozone part was correct and the re-install went smoothly. I re-greased all of the slides with silicone grease as well as the gear on the new motor. The window works great. My friends should be happy since I don't think the window has worked correctly since they bought the car.
This is the second video on this topic that I've viewed.....that shows a partially-failed motor such that you can POSITION THE WONDOW FOR ACCESS TO THE LOWER WINDOW FRAME REGULATOR BOLTS ( aka "glass holding bracket" in your vid)....through the interior door panel. Here's the problem....and I'm sure I speak for many others.....my window is in the UP position with a DEAD motor. How do you access these lower window-regulator frame bolts ????????
If you undo all the other bolts that you can reach, does that allow you to wiggle the window enough to lower it or remove it? Otherwise if you can turn the regulator/motor enough inside the door to access the bolts on the motor, you can remove them, just make sure you tape the window or have someone holding it so it doesn’t fall
@@GirlieGarage ...Thanks...haven't gotten that far, still learning and planning the work. The bolts that hold the motor have the screw heads facing the outside of the car....so even if I can reach them somehow through one of the other openings, I am HOPING the heads are hex style that can use a GearWrench ( or some such flat wrench device), and hopefully not a Torx or Philips head requiring a longish screwdriver. My car is a Scion xA that fits this following vid...if only I had partial drop capability this vid would do it---> ua-cam.com/video/XR9-HPXhJ14/v-deo.html
Exactly my question. I am guessing that you have to hold the window up by wedging some cardboard or using tape and then you have to try and work your arm up and unscrew it. I guess I will have to look around some more.
It does take some fanagling, and generally someone with thin arms/hands, but you would loosen the window from the regulator and pull it out of the door, then work the regulator out

Two Thumbs Up.
Thank you!! I’m glad you found it helpful
How are you supposed to lower it if it’s not working in the first place?

Do you have the driver’s side.
