I do agree that the GMMK Pro does sound pretty muted no matter what switches you decide to go with. Luckily, I wanted a "silent" build, so I personally love my GMMK Pro with Boba U4 silent switches. Thanks for putting together an overview of so many keyboards in just 6 months :D

This video gave me an idea...
a keyboard with a lever on the side that lets you flip between thocky and poppy. It would just be a mechanism to lift the plate slightly, applying more or less pressure to the chosen dampening inside the board... you could also have a dial to really fine tune it. Would this make a $1000 board? Of COURSE! But we're at the point we need innovation. I've loved mechanical keyboards for close to 15 years now, and while the advancement has been good, lots of conventional parts that interchange, the raw innovative items in a keyboard just hasn't been as quick. This would allow you to have two keyboards in one. We all know we have thocky and poppy days everybody, don't deny it.

Can confirm that the Q1 V2 sounds pretty good out of the box. I am new to this rabbit hole/money pit, thinking I was the hot s*** with my DAS4 keyboard for the last embarrassing amount of years. I have the Q1 V2, I could only get the built version here, but already have soem keycaps and replacement switches on their way. I also bought painter's tape as I understand this to be the single most important technical advancement in keyboards in recent years.
Love the channel and the site, I landed on 75% as my perfect form factor (for now) after watching a bunch of your videos and checking out the site, you're doing sterling work :)

I recently got my first mech, the Royal Kludge RK84 (I did initially see it locally in stock here in Western Australia, but ended up finding one BNIB 2nd hand at essentially the same price after they had sold out).
Super happy with it, hotswap, RGB (which I didn't even think I'd use, but I actually like it on the lowest setting), tri-mode with BT, 2.4GHz (with a dongle that can be stored in the back of it) and USB-C. The magnetic feet probably aren't as good as those dual-height flip-out feet, but do the job. I specifically wanted the del, home, end, pgup, pgdn layout on the right hand side (I feel like this is the only sensible layout for those keys). A rotary endcoder would be nice, but you can use software to make you mouse wheel act like one, anyway.
It did surprise me how often I went to use the scroll wheel that used to reside on the left-hand side of my old logitech membrane board, so now I'm thinking of ways I can hack the old board and use the rotary encoder and scroll wheel from it plugged into the USB ports of this board - Oh, did I mention the RK84 has two USB pass-through ports? Unfortunately they don't act as host and can't be used wirelessly, or you could just plug a knob or wheel or whatever you wanted into it, but at least you can do that plugged with USB (or use it as an excuse to get a wireless numpad with knob).

Havent seen many keyboard youtubers look at this one and I use it as my main keyboard now with akko pink switchs and the honey and milk keycaps and upgraded stabs with electric tape mod on pcb and love it. Was about a $250 CAD build with switches keycaps and stabs. Keyboard is $109 cad on amazon (but I got it when there was a sale so like 80 cad plus free shipping and tax so $91)
(Lubing switches took so long though lol cuz I have bad hands😂, 10 hours of suffering)

A replacement for the kbd67 is the NK65 by Novelkeys. It doesn’t support screw in or clip in stabs but for 95$ USD, it’s hard to beat

Awesome video. I've been out of the keyboard market for many years. I have 2 Realforce TK that a got like 15 years ago. One for home and one for the office. I thought I was crazy back then to by 2 $200+ keyboards & 2 different color key sets. But, I've been using them every day since then. Never did a thing to them. The market is considerably expanded in 15 year.

From what I can tell the ciy gas67 is basically just the kbd67 lite but it has northfacing leds and is a third of the price.

I just bought the CIY Gas67 kit as my second keyboard build for a little over $40. Trust me, you get a lot more than what you pay for, probably comparable to kbd67 lite.
The only complaint it might have is north-facing led and no wireless option atm (likely available in the future).

So many expensive options, civ tester 84 and others from the same manufacturer are cheap, hotswap, alumnium base, software for macros and rgb. Best cost benefit of them all. For 108k there's sk108 and eg108 which despite having a hard plastic case, they have an alumnium backplate as well.

i kind of disagree with the fb tkl being thocky, I actually think its more so on the clacky, sometimes even hollow sounding for those who are so used to the foamy boards...
