I love Joe's attitude about playing these guitars instead of just displaying them.

Joe made a perfect point - every performer or band needs gigs to get started. The number of places in my town that hire live bands can be counted on one hand...
Gigging is important because it drives not only the band playing but also brings new people into the music business. At some point, even Mick and Keith are going to call it a day. There will always be new kids wanting to play music but without venues, they're not going to earn any money to pay for their equipment.
Keep playing Joe, you are the shining light to a number of folks!

unfortunately...live music is not what it used to be..let alone talking about blues/rock music..I don't know with all the snowflake people phenomenon if this will come back, gigs, venues full of people at live concerts, etc. I mean most live music is either some progressive rock super technical, or whatever, or super aggressive metal. Maybe in the US things are different, where you still have blues/country, etc...but in Europe...not so much....

You got that right …I played in 70’s and 80 90’s mainly I had so many clubs …to play…that’s what got me started as a guitarist..today you don’t see clubs …for bands to play on fri sat night…I’m glad I got to experience that…very sad…it’s almost non existent

Something I've heard is that video games are somewhat to blame. 15- 20 years ago most everyone (boy or girl) played a musical instrument, a lot of it was started when in school, the high school band. Or playing around a campfire. And the guitar was the easy one to learn a few chords on and carry around.

I went through a down faze , playing guitar . I'm talking ten to twelve years. about two to three years ago got my first smart phone with a big screen . got on UA-cam , and very quickly became fired back up to play again. bought a les Paul , and haven't slowed down since. my church is very excited about the potential ,( if I practice😂) . my kids love the sounds. I think though , we are at a breaking point. and I just hope my family will be one of many to hold on for years and years.
by the way , one of the very first videos I saw on UA-cam. the video that straight fired me up .
Joe and Beth Hart , close to my fire. blew my mind that I had never heard such fired up music. I grew a real resentment towards radio stations after that . 😊

Regardless of if you like his music or not, Joe B. is a treasure. The thing that I admire about him the most is just how normal he is. He is one of us. Once most musicians achieve a national or international degree of success, it seems like their feet start lifting off of the gorund. But with Joe, he is still very grounded and level headed. Us, 'common musicians', can still relate to him. It is refreshing and wonderful to know that guys like him still exist.

I love Joe. At first I didn't want to because he is a lifelong musician that I thought didn't pay his dues but I was wrong. The thing that makes me love him the most is his respect and reference for the history of the music of the Blues and of the guitars I really feel as if there is nobody better than Joe to have them and to be their caregiver.

Joe has a lot more patience and restraint than I would have. I own three Gibsons; the combined price of all three isn’t even probably a tenth of what Skinner would bring, and I still wouldn’t allow someone to handle any one of them like this guy is handling Joe’s Les Paul.

It makes me sad hearing about the state of live music. Luckily where I live they are still a few live music venues kicking around, and it makes me more motivated to get out there and play to try and keep what's left still alive. Love Joe as a musician but love him just as much as a music nerd and as a person.

There's always this debate, do you shoot them? Yes. Do you refinish them? No, not in that sense of the word. Guitars are always going to have more(give me a word) than guns.

Totally...it was amazing. I've never been too gear focused...but when I lived in Ithaca, I was fortunate to get to play a bunch of cool stuff at Rumble Seat...the bursts and the original flying V that I got to play had sounds that I'll always remember....it's an amazing combination of power/throatiness and clarity, at the same time. It's not smoke and mirrors...they're just really special instruments that have "the sound" we grew up hearing on all those classic albums.

Part of it is due to technology and part to the younger people now. They don't want to spend the many hours a day practicing, or playing dives to 3 people, paying their dues. Everything is on demand now, if you can't have it right NOW or within 2 days with free shipping they don't want to bother. They're not willing to put the work in that it takes, like Joe Bonnamasa did. Just listen to today's click track auto tune garbage music.

I do totally agree with Joe - piss off the Mac books and DJs. Joe, Jimi, SRV - all just a few pedals, guitar and amp. No bs. They had the the talent, did they hit every note? Hell no! But that was part of, the rawness, pure musicianship. And sometimes those ‘errors’ gave it more life, more dynamics. I hate even using digital pedals! And I’ll never want an amp that’s not tube. Hurts when I see bands like Metallica going to kempers or fractals. If I want to hear a Marshall tone, I want to hear it from a bloody Marshall! I could understand a smaller band who has to cut costs but a huge band like Metallica doing it is, to me, wrong.

I shudder every time I see someone handle a guitar with a big stupid jacket with zippers all over it, keep it away from the guitars Mark from Norm’s and now Gibson used to do that, as bad as rivet jeans and belt buckles, knock it off, your not on a motorcycle
