- How does hypomagnesemia lead to hypokalemia!?
We should be aware that there are common conditions such as diarrhea, chronic alcoholism and diuretics use that can cause multiple electrolyte deficiencies including low magnesium and potassium. However, even in the absence of those, hypomagnesemia can be a direct cause of hypokalemia. The mechanism is explained in this video. Enjoy!
This is the first episode of a series called (Now You Know). The series is composed of short clips explaining the mechanism behind certain things we do in everyday practice. Stay tuned for more videos to come and don't forget to subscribe!

excellent work
So grateful for this video 💕
Unfortunately the CBC test done by doctors doesn't check magnesium but it is worthless anyway since 98% of mag and potassium are in the cells. Only works if you are super deficient and your body cannot keep it balanced.
Simple and straight to the point. Love it!
ALmost impossible to get mag from food since soils have so little in them. I take 800-1000mg a day of liquid ionic magnesium called REMAG and it makes me feel so much better. I spread it out through the day and also take it if I wake at night. You also need more mag if you take D3.
Nicely explained 👍
The best explanation
Great explanation
Good explanation

Thanks
Ch alcoholism, diarrhea and diuretics can cause hypomag and hypokal.
Hypomag causes hypokal.
Thank you for the simple explanation. Is it possible that the potassium level is okay and the magnesium one could be to low? Or do they always go hand in hand?
Many conditions cause deficiency in both but you can still see in some occasions hypomagnesemia without hypokalemia. PPI as an example are more common to cause primarily hypomagnesemia alone. Thanks for watching
Can you explain how does hypokalemia cause Hypertension?
I wish you were my doctor
