Tony Bennet performed that year? I didn't see that. Lady Gaga was probably like 8 years old at that time.Nobody ever knew she was gonna grow up to make an album with him and your with him. She even had her own performance at the Superbowl. Her life is so interesting.
Love the moment he’s done delivering his line “BRING TO ME THE TROPHY!!” He drops his arm and is totally done acting lol In an instant it’s like he transformed from Warrior King 👑 into Pete, that dude that lives in the apartment downstairs 😜
The clip that was uploaded to UA-cam lopped-off the filmed introduction that showed the archaeologist searching Disneyland's temple ruins for the Super Bowl trophy and finding that the object had been stolen. The live segment then begins inside the stadium where the audience finds that the natives who are worshipping the goddess, Patti Labelle, are also worshipping their other idol, this trophy. So much is crammed into this enormous but brief show, and it does all make sense in a tongue-in-cheek way.
A total hot mess.. from the pairings to the choreography, customers, violence.. all of it.. Tony Bennett singing that sing at the end and trying to dance.. one is good, both.. no.. y I don’t mix peanut butter with my mayonnaise..
I have a faint memory of watching this as a 7 year old child. I remember seeing Indiana Jones during the halftime show, but up until this moment of my life I wasn't sure if this was a dream.
@@tyrantlizardkingI’m so envious I wish I got to grew up in this era I was born on this exact date it’s interesting seeing pop culture during this time
I was in high school at the time and was an extra dancing on the football field. This show was so much fun! One of my favorite memories from my high school days for sure!
@2:58 : did Patti say "God Damn!" ? @7:13 the fat lady who hits a guy with a chair to grab the trophy, then kicks a guy and gets her wig snatched off 😂😂😂😂
Never watched this before. Had no idea what to expect, just wanted to see old performances. With that said, I cannot put into words the emotion that overtook me when Circle of Life started playing and everyone sang along. It was beautiful!
the Disney halftime show they put on back 1984 is MUCH MUCH better. This one just has too many awkward moments to be good at all, though the Circle of Life is a high point for sure.
Not many people know this but the "Bring to me the trophy" guy made a triumphant return to the Super Bowl 20 years later playing Left Shark for Katy Perry.
The 90s were a strange time. Rememeber this was 1995, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight had just been in The Lion King and was a massive hit back then. I guess that's why they chose it? Kind of weird, but not as bad as some other super bowl performances.
@ 7:12 I'M DEAD!!! Fat lady hit dude with a chair, stomped on a guy's foot , tossed the trophy while getting her wig snatched off- WTF am I Watching? HAHAHA
as much as I like Patti LaBelle, this was a HOT ASS MESS. You got a Mayan theme, clashing with a Caribbean theme, clashing with an Asian/Buddha theme. I mean, it was like going to an 'all you can eat buffet', but there aint shit on the table that looks edible.
Another halftime show that was regarded as one of the strangest, craziest, and worst of all time was the one in 1995. The theme was ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye’, and the performers were Tony Bennett, Patti LaBelle, Teddy Pendergrass, and the Miami Sound Machine. All great artists on paper, but the added stunt people, live python snakes, an Indiana Jones impersonator, and lots of skydivers just ended up being way too much. The show producers wanted to go as big as possible and clearly, they went overboard.
Thank you, NY Post of all things, for the link. This might well be the most insane one ever done, but with Patti LaBelle, you can just about rescue anything. (Sorry, Aretha.)
My hat is off to the masterminds, choreographers and all the dancers (singers and musicians) who pulled this phenomenal performance off. I loved all the transitions and theme changes. They made the impossible- possible. Great job.
I’d love to meet whichever wise marketer at Disney sat in the meeting where they started planning the halftime show and said “let’s act out Indiana Jones to promote that new ride we’re opening, but in between have actual celebrities singing!”
Then Disney head Michael Eisner was President of Paramount when Raiders of the Lost Ark was released, which even explained why it became a Disney World attraction. He didn't stick around at Paramount after The Temple of Doom, which pushed the envelope and was perhaps more to his then-boss Barry Diller's liking, was released. Eisner sure was obsessed with Raiders of the Lost Ark though, and even integrated Indiana Jones archeology into DuckTales and even the outfit Chip donned in Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers.
Finally. THANK YOU, MY FRIEND!!! :-) 18 years ago, I was the only one who stayed in front of the TV to watch this schlock. All the other guys were in the fridge! (Getting beers, that is.) THANK YOU, MOE!!!
Oh my god I thought I would never relive the horror of this halftime show. I remember watching this when I was 15 and knowing that my childhood had died. Thank you for helping me relive that.
I was 11 and was just excited to see something Indiana Jones related. Sitting there like "Ok, Pattie, nice pipes, now let's let Indie come and punch some whatever these baddies are"
Still not the cheesiest. Ever seen the "Winter Magic" halftime show? Lol And let's face it, it's still better than any halftime show in the last 20 years.
They don't do half time shows like that anymore. Sure, it was lip syncing, but nearly all singing in the Super Bowl half time show is. But that was outstanding choreography, acting, production and story for such a small time window.
Halftime shows these days are so overproduced and overly focused on spectacle, we need to return to the simpler days of my childhood when all you needed was a voodoo temple, a drum-playing snake, swordfights, whip fights, topless dancing Egyptians, Indiana Jones parachuting in with SEAL Team Six, a giant brawl with ethnically ambiguous ninjas, five hundred dancers in elaborate and possibly culturally insensitive costumes, and Mola frickin' Ram
WOW! This...is...so...COOL! Can You Feel the Love Tonight played at the end because this Super Bowl halftime show was created after The Lion King was released in theaters! I could’ve expected more presence of The Lion King in the halftime show! I wanna see a pretty cool halftime show for the 2021 Super Bowl that pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida with lots of performers performing some pretty cool songs and appearances by countless Disney characters and could have a theme revolving around Guardians of the Galaxy and mix-tapes!

Better than this years half time show I can tell you that. 2019

Sets the tone for the rest of the show. xD

This was also the Super Bowl after "The Lion King" was released and became the highest-grossing film of 1994.
I was confused between Lion King and Indiana Jones
Only Disney could make an entire halftime show about one of their rides
The Indiana Jones Adventure is a Disneyland attraction, not a mere "ride."
so upset they didnt let Patti sing live. You can truly tell she is a person that always sing live because lipping isnt her thing
The 90s really were such a different time ... happy I was a kid then.

Hell, this was more entertaining than the shitty music they do now.

This might make it into my top 10 Super Bowl halftime shows. It's stupid, but hella entertaining.

How many times do you want Miriam to scream "INDY!!!"?
YES, JUST YES 🙃
This was so corny. You gotta respect the complexity of it all but pure corn.
It looks like a live commercial.
