Hometown show! For 'Know Your Enemy', 'Longview' and 'Knowledge', Billie invited a fan to sing and play the guitar with them. 2 of the fans picked out were standing adjacent to me, lol. Many of the fans recognized each other from previous Green Day concerts. In fact, the kid who played 'Longview and J.A.R.' last year on the guitar and who was featured in the 'Spotify Landmark Series: Green Day The Early Years', was next to me in the VIP line.
For the VIPs, we received, among other things, the opportunity to watch the band sound check from the stadium's suites. Two of the songs sound checked were 'Homecoming' and 'Too Dumb to Die', but neither was performed. Like Oakland Arena, they have an early curfew at ~11:00, so perhaps there was not enough time before the scheduled fireworks.

To further celebrate the homecoming, the band held a Pop-Up Shop at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records in Oakland for 2 days, complete with exclusive merchandise, giveaways, free Oakland Coffee, and appearances by the Drunk Bunny and the A's Mascot, Stomper. Upon opening, there was a ~30-fan long line out the door. The first 250 Idiot Nation Fan Club members got 2 free tries on the carnival claw machine to win miniature stuffed pink or green drunk bunnies. Only 25 of the green bunnies were made and they were all in the machine. I aimed the claw to try to get one of those, but it didn't hold on :P I bought a pair of posters and they gave me a free Oakland Coffee tote bag, which was nice.

The opener was Catfish and the Bottlemen, who was actually scheduled to perform last year with Green Day at Oakland Arena for Not So Silent Night 2016, but they had to cancel. Many were looking forward to seeing them as well.

Contrary to popular opinion, I thought the singing crowd added immersion to this video. I felt like I was sitting front row at the show watching this video.

Can’t blame the girl for singing at all. She was probably having a blast. Don’t get mad at people for singing at a concert, even if its not the best.
Me and my cousin attended this show...we were on the floor, about thirty feet from the center of the catwalk. It was our first time seeing Green Day live and. It. Was. Goddam. Incredible.

The first Green Day concert I've ever been to, one of the best live performances I've EVER seen.

We all love singing along with our fave bands in concert to be fair... Pretty sure I ruined 21 Guns at Hyde Park last summer because I tried to sing the last '21 Guns' bit like the 'Awesome as Fuck' record because that's what I expecting. Not only did I sing the note the wrong way... But butchered it... On an acoustic song... So fair play to the girl for having fun; I've done worse. Haha

Hi, how many hours did you wait before concert to get so close to the stage?
We got there at about 2 or 3 pm....but you couldn't line up until 12pm so...
But either way you still had to wait 7 hours or so just to get in. I was right near this person...to the left of Billie. It was fuckin hell near the front...people pushing and crushing you....my friend was in a wheelchair so I had to protect her.

Hi there! We were given early entry privileges because we were VIPs, so there was no real need to get there early. However, the last time we saw the band at this large a venue, at Oracle Arena, we lined up at ~9am for the 7pm show. While waiting, we got heavily rained on for ~6 hours straight, so many fans elected to line up much later to avoid the rain. With that, it really depends on the location/venue, day of the week and the weather. Since you're seeing them on a weekend and the weather is scheduled to be nice in Omaha, 4-6 hours before the start time might be a decent estimate for being in the 1st or 2nd row. Hope this helps and enjoy the show!
