Like those little chocolate UFOs filled with joghurt? Legend has it that the quality of the chocolate was so bad that they weren´t allowed to sell them any more in some places.
Sebastian Abele I only remeber the Esspapier ones filled with Brause.... And of course Watermelon chewing gum thats looks like a melon (really detailed, even with little "seeds" on the inside, Monster Ball, Candy watches / necklaces, etc.
"I think it tastes like dish soap..." "So I guess you want to spit it out?" "No!" 😂😂😂 I'm dying from laughter right now! 😂 Lol! Too funny you two! Thanks for the laugh! 💕 God bless!
You can buy most of them in some german stores. But like Mars and Bounty, they taste different in the USA. Most of these candys are adjusted for the german market (taste). You have to buy them in US stores in germany for the original taste
I often ate that as a kid too, i just looked up it's name and It's called Schleckpulver-Stangen in germany. Often sold in those little stores that sell newspapers, or Lottery stuff.
sends him out of the room to be secretive, talks about surprising him with each candy, then proceeds to hand him each candy IN the wrapper WITH the name on it 🤔
I'm german and my boyfriend is american and ever since we're together I'm like obsessed with peanut butter just like Stefan. I take a huge bag of Reeses with me back to Germany every time I get back from the States
Thank you for being so open-minded about trying these candies. I've watched other videos where other nationalities already wrote off the candies and snacks.
Tootsie Rolls are like a chocolate fudge. They were invented before refrigerated transport was widely available. They were not able to ship Hershey bars or other chocolate from May to September because they would melt. Tootsie Rolls did not melt in the summer and were available when chocolate bars were not for sale.
TootsieRolls! I love Tootsie Rolls! when i was a child, some people from U.S. Army lived in our village. They were stationed in Hanau, i think. I sometimes played with their children. So we became good friends. and sometimes the parents bring me a pack of tootsie rolls! I havent ate them like about 20 years right now, but i still remember that great taste! please send me boxes full of tootsie rolls! I'm sorry for that worse english. hope you understand what i want to say ;-)
I really enjoy your videos, you two do a great job. As someone that's a dual citizen I'm always excited to see people talking about things from both, Germany and the USA. Takes me back down memory lane. Keep up the good work.
Most of these sour candies came out around my high school time to date myself. But hey, it's interesting to know a whole generation grew up on them. Hadn't thought of that!
The label of "Magic Gum" reads: "Magic Gum with Poprocks". They were a favorite of mine growing up, but I was always a little let down by the gum aspect. I wonder if original Poprocks also have gum with them.
Oh I love that you can share these things. I do that with my bf too, he's English, I'm German. It's fun to see if the other one likes it and how we react. Also this gave me an idea for his birthday. Thank you!
You are so lucky, I could listen to that accent all day. Great candy choices! People always leave out Nerds on these kind of vids, glad you included them. Sugar Daddies and Chik-O-Stiks were also some childhood favs.
There was somthing similar like Poprocks when i was a child. It was in a darkblue little bag whith a green alien on it and it turned into a bubblegum when the "poppig" was over
That was one of the funniest show I´ve seen on your channel!! :) When Stefan tasted the green "thing" it was the most incredibles "Schweppes-Gesicht" ever! Great one!!
mr. german man doesn't know german candy (in fact we have aaaaaaalll the candy in this video in germany too. even the fucking spray. I'm 19 and am still addicted to that shit)
You can still get that spray in germany? I remember being totally addicted to that around 2000 but afaik they vanished from store shelves. I checked in Kassel, Trier and Köln but cannot find them ;_;
Sure, you can add all kinds of flavors to cotton candy but the only thing all cotton candies have in common is the stringy sugar. So "cotton candy flavor" can only mean sugar flavor.
Well, I haven't had cotton candy for years but if my memory serves me right, plain white cotton candy is the most common in Germany. That's probably why I don't associate any particular flavor with it. The same would also apply to bubble gum flavor but with that I do associate a particular flavor, even though there's quite a broad spectrum of flavors for bubble gum, most of which taste nothing like the flavor described as "bubble gum flavor". Hm, someone should write a paper on this topic...
Ah I see, In America, I've never seen white cotton candy before. It's always Pink vanilla or Blue raspberry. There are other flavors and colors as well but they are not as popular as the classics. (And they are hard to find outside of prepackaged cotton candy sold in the stores....which are horrible) I would always stand by the cotton candy stall at the fair as a child (I was just tall enough to see inside) and watch them spin cotton candy. I found it fascinating to watch. I am curious now about these flavor profiles of things we would think taste the same the world around. To me, Double Bubble, Bazooka, and Hubba Bubba is the classic bubblegum flavor for us. I wonder if their flavoring is different in other countries?
I am glad to see this cultural exchange and the good fun in it. My daughter also found a romantic German youth when she went there to study the language and i have been blessed with a good family since. Stephan is a good sport in being experimented on and i hope we see the German candy trials at some point.
Love this! You are both so much fun! Warheads and Zotz are two other candies he needs to try. Next time I come to Germany, I will have to bring some of these for my colleagues.
I have a hard time understanding what flavor cotton candy actually is as its main and only real constituent is sugar. Is the sugar caramelized slightly during the process and that is supposed to give it a unique taste?
M. Utley Its flavored sugar. But their is a classic cotton candy flavor that universally known as the cotton candy flavor even though their is 100s of ways cotton candy can taste.
It's funny to see the contrast between Dana and Stephan in the mood they have. She is laughing and euphoric and he is very curbed down. (Gegensätze ziehen sich an?)
HAHAHA Omg 'The last moments of Mr. German on camera' I died with that. Dana, little evil fairy~~~ hahaha I'd die with sauer flavors x_x tbh I'm from Peru - South America and I used to have Pop rocks, loved them but besides them I dont remember more from my childhood. Amazing video btw
Since these are basically the same candies I grew up with, I have some more you should have Mr. German Man try next time you're back: Chico Sticks, Marshmallow Circus Peanuts, Boston Baked Beans, Wax Candy Bottles and Candy Buttons. I find most of these at Dollar Tree, it's crazy how they have more of the old candies than the larger stores.

I totally fell in love with Reese's peanut butter cups. I brought them to Germany last year and have seen them at so many German grocery stores since. Hope they will start selling Cadbury minieggs one day - my absolute favorite US candy!
I loved this video! I've watched many other clips with foreigners trying american foods as a premise, and am always disappointed by the selections. This video was so nostalgic for me, great picks! I think Dana and I must have been born in similar years.
Rubus leucodermis (the fruit is blue/black, kinda like a blackberry, still, it's named raspberry). I might add: blackberry and raspberry are both from the rubus genus and thus quite similiar anyway.
beside fireballs, that peanut-butter stuff and cotton candy flavor we also have everything in germany (maybe not the exact same brands, but the same type of candies).. these sprays i also had a lot on some small stores were we tried to go between classes in school ;) the soft and caramel-like ones you often get on "karneval/fasching" or even you find most of them in aldi or other supermarkets. those pop rocks i often took from a gas station near by my parents house. they were called different (something with space/alien theme if i remember right) and ofc not with cotton candy flavor but with something i can't even describe.. maybe it was called like "bubblegum flavor"?! so yeah.. i tried a lot of these but none of them really became a favorite. we did challenges with "center shocks" (but i'm pretty sure they were much more sour than they are these days). my personal favorites were and will always be: mixed stuff from haribo, everything from kinder - especially "kinder schoko bons" - and different types of bubblegum :-)
Schwarzer Tee and even that tiny bit of flavor is just a mixture of chemicals. and we are so dumb that we need our foods to be dyed for us to be convinced of the flavors they're marked as 😂 one of my biggest pet peeves - dye in food. it's so unnecessary and sometimes harmful.
Reese's should be peeled and deconstructed with your teeth, slowly. All chocolate and then a solid hit of peanut butter. And then do the other half. You missed two things. Butterfingers and frozen Charleston Chew shattered into pieces. Three. Lemonheads.
FearGFX I've always thought those taste kinda like wax with a little sugar in it - some people like it, though... Sorry it was your only American candy experience :(
Carol Gage Oh, totally - I feel like a lot of people essentially use it just for decorative purposes, too... Putting it out in a display, fully aware that few (if any) people will eat it.
I'm not aware of anyone spitting them out in the US South, except people who simply tried one but don't ever eat them again. Even those of the family that don't do "spicy" don't spit them out. As a kid, we just ate the damn things. The only challenge was biting through one. I don't even...
Pixie sticks are called "Schleckpulver Stangen" in Germany. I remember the stick being see-through and the sugary stuff coloured in rainbow colour (looked like a "rainbow stick")
Now I want to see Dana trying candy from Mr. German Mans childhood!
They already did that with "all kinds of snacks" including candy, look on the channel.
Da geht noch was :D
Now, I really want Dana to try German "Center Shock" bubblegum.
Nah, they aren't as sour as i remember anymore.
Pippi Lotta
I tried one a while ago and there was no real shock. I'm not sure if it is idealized memory or if they are weaker nowadays.
Did yours get warm? They lose the sour taste when they get warm
Desmodontinae10
Probably as they were shipped here.
I'm pretty sure that Center Shock is from the netherlands
Mr. german man speaks english perfectly with perfect german accent 😂
lipstickerella The german 'th' 😂😂😂
you mean the 'z' like zat's really funny
lipstickerella haha absolutely! 😂
lipstickerella his englisch goes (german insider)
not every german speaks like that. there are actually some with a proper english accent (american/british/whatever)...
"I think it tastes like dish soap..."
"So I guess you want to spit it out?"
"No!" 😂😂😂
I'm dying from laughter right now! 😂 Lol! Too funny you two! Thanks for the laugh! 💕 God bless!
Brittany I always thought it taste like Lysol.
i read this just as he said it lol
Lemon candy made with artificial flavor......Lemon Pledge furniture polish..." Made with real lemon".....
His sour face is HILARIOUS! Thanks for the laughs.
Stefan gets major points for liking peanut butter! :)
".....But it's Stefan trying amaricam candy" 😂👏🏼
We also have the last thing he tried, that sour spray, here as well. I remember absolutely loving these as a child!
0:40 . I don´t know, if they taste the same, but this is also available in Germany (but with another name)
Johnson97 Yes I know them too.
almost everything of these candy we have in Germany... at least in Baden-Württemberg
If i remember right we(me and my childhood friends) used to just call them "Zuckerstangen" as kids
You can buy most of them in some german stores. But like Mars and Bounty, they taste different in the USA. Most of these candys are adjusted for the german market (taste). You have to buy them in US stores in germany for the original taste

They live in Germany, so he's not going to know these candies by name. She is doing it out of the room so that he doesn't hear the descriptions.
Your husband is so adorable! You two have such a great dynamic and really balance each other out.
I love this couple❤️ should do a blog channel
Ebony Mcneil hi
Hello
I'm german and my boyfriend is american and ever since we're together I'm like obsessed with peanut butter just like Stefan. I take a huge bag of Reeses with me back to Germany every time I get back from the States
Mr German Man looks so worried the whole time :D
Thank you for being so open-minded about trying these candies. I've watched other videos where other nationalities already wrote off the candies and snacks.
Oh my gods. You two are adorable.
6:04 - "A million limes have died for this."
Hahaha, best line on the channel!

Scott Mercer they are bland, i get more flavour from chewits
I used to love the ring candy things when I was a kid. We also had candy lipstick and chewy cigarette shaped strawberry toffee.
“It’s sooooo sour!!”
“But you like it, right?
😣😣😣 “Uh-huh...”
Stefan is adorable. Well, you both are tbh.
if you can find them try Zotz. it's a hard candy shell with a fizzy powder inside.
Heidi Cook I used to love zots.
We get zots all the time at cash and carry. Love them!
We have something similar in AUS, they are called sherbies.
TootsieRolls! I love Tootsie Rolls!

I love how happy you always are :)
This brings back memories! I'll be 38 on Friday and I'm single again for a little over a year. Thanks for making me smile you two!
Most of these sour candies came out around my high school time to date myself. But hey, it's interesting to know a whole generation grew up on them. Hadn't thought of that!
I love how he's trying to be polite and not show/tell how unenjoyable this is :D
Poprocks are known in Germany as well under a different name... its called Magic Gum.
The label of "Magic Gum" reads: "Magic Gum with Poprocks". They were a favorite of mine growing up, but I was always a little let down by the gum aspect. I wonder if original Poprocks also have gum with them.
P. Herrmann Ja. da war was 😅
Luca Dittmar
boom baby
das war vor meiner Zeit xD
He has such a wonderfully expressive face.
you should have had mr. German man try Warhead hard candies LOL
You two guys are too cute! I loved watching this -- had me chuckling along!
Tootsi Roll got really popular in Germany because Americans were dropping them in the Berlin Airlift. I'm not sure if they are still popular.
not everyone grew up in the stone age
Eric Taylor they are. I was eating one while watching this video.
Carol Lynch
Thanks for the confirmation.
Do you know of Gail Halvorsen the "Candy Bomber"? He is from my city.
Oh I love that you can share these things. I do that with my bf too, he's English, I'm German. It's fun to see if the other one likes it and how we react.
Also this gave me an idea for his birthday. Thank you!

Griffin25
Jaaaaaaaaaaa :-)
Wow..here I like the background. It's not bored as german wohnung. U always make me smile. Nice couple ever!!
How did you forget the Warheads!!?
The face he made when he tried the Pixie Stick was priceless lol
Subscribed! :)
you are soooo sweet!
dieFrickelbude ihr seit toll
LOL. Stefan's reaction to the sour green apple bubble gum was just priceless!
You two are so cute together
I love, love, love Stefan's reaction to the sour spray. I've watched it a couple of times and I am still laughing - such a genuine reaction
Your husband has such a great personality. This was fun to watch.
Ich liiiiiiiebe Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! (==
YEAPEA Agreed.
BAHAHA, loved Mr. German Man's "this is unexpectedly sour!!" faces. Also I'm craving candy at midnight now. THANKS.
Haha, seems like mister german man has experience with crystals xD
THIS is the cutest clip ever! I love it! Made my Day...
The sour apple gum somewhat reminds me of “Centershock”.
Haha exactly what I was thinking when seeing the face he made :D
That was one of the funniest show I´ve seen on your channel!! :) When Stefan tasted the green "thing" it was the most incredibles "Schweppes-Gesicht" ever! Great one!!
mr. german man doesn't know german candy (in fact we have aaaaaaalll the candy in this video in germany too. even the fucking spray. I'm 19 and am still addicted to that shit)
You can still get that spray in germany? I remember being totally addicted to that around 2000 but afaik they vanished from store shelves. I checked in Kassel, Trier and Köln but cannot find them ;_;
Bär Honigfeld you can often still find them at Phillips I guess. But I've seen them also in Citty lately
I just saw them a few days ago, right at the checkout in a Rewe market in Bonn :O
I'm 18 and I also know nearly all of them. Until the shop closed last year I think it was still possible to buy it.
So that makes me wonder what would be a uniquely American candy. Peanut Brittle? Saltwater taffy?
Mr. German's face shrunk to one square inch when he tried the sour candy. Absolutely funny! - Janny & Matt & JF
Cotton candy flavour? Isn't that just sugar?
No, cotton candy has a flavor. Classic pink cotton candy is vanilla and classic blue is raspberry.
To me, Double Bubble, Bazooka, and Hubba Bubba is the classic bubblegum flavor for us. I wonder if their flavoring is different in other countries?
swiss Zuckerwatte?
I am glad to see this cultural exchange and the good fun in it. My daughter also found a romantic German youth when she went there to study the language and i have been blessed with a good family since. Stephan is a good sport in being experimented on and i hope we see the German candy trials at some point.
Double Bubble could be Bazooka
+Susanne Mehldau Yeah!!! That's it. Mr. German Man says that's the one 😃
Bazooka Joe - with a cartoon on the wrapper.
I think it could also be Hubba Bubba
yep, i wated to suggest bazooka as well. it used to be sold in europe (well, at least austria, so i guess germany as well) until aprox. early 90s
haven't seen bazooka 4 ages...
I just binge watched most of your videos... as a German, with family in the US and living abroad myself... it's just hilarious to me 😂😂
bless his heart on the fireball, he looked so lost and scared
Emma Jochum ich love fireballs. never spit it out. cinnamon explosion!
Liked at less than a minute just for mrgermenmans face with the pixie stick! Y'all are so dang cute
We have most of these candies in germany aswell^^ atleast where I'm from
You are such a good sport! I love it! I'm going to have to edit this because it's so good I had to comment in the middle.
Chocolate is candy so I would say a tootsie roll is chocolate meets taffy
With a little orange flavor in there too, which I love in regular chocolate bars but don’t love in Tootsie Rolls.
Love this! You are both so much fun! Warheads and Zotz are two other candies he needs to try. Next time I come to Germany, I will have to bring some of these for my colleagues.
Cotton Candy is such an US type of flavour.
No one to explain the flavor, its unlike anything you have tasted. You would have to taste it.
It's funny to see the contrast between Dana and Stephan in the mood they have. She is laughing and euphoric and he is very curbed down. (Gegensätze ziehen sich an?)
Last year on st nicholas day I have received a chocolate santa with pop rocks in it.
+TimeToDraw Pop Rocks inside the chocolate Santa!? Yummy!!!
Should of given him the Warheads hard candy
You all are such a cute couple, you all sound so happy.
I thought cotton candy flavored stuff was usually pink.
thanks for having Mr German man in the video he seems like a really nice guy.
pretty funny reactions :D
Since these are basically the same candies I grew up with, I have some more you should have Mr. German Man try next time you're back: Chico Sticks, Marshmallow Circus Peanuts, Boston Baked Beans, Wax Candy Bottles and Candy Buttons. Mr. German man is so cute!
I totally fell in love with Reese's peanut butter cups. I brought them to Germany last year and have seen them at so many German grocery stores since. Hope they will start selling Cadbury minieggs one day - my absolute favorite US candy!
i havent eaten so many seweets at once in my life
I loved this video! I've watched many other clips with foreigners trying american foods as a premise, and am always disappointed by the selections. This video was so nostalgic for me, great picks! I think Dana and I must have been born in similar years.
"You missed my mouth" - I bet Dana says that once in a while.
Merit Seto Haha, made my day
I too had to laugh xD
Get out, you perv X-D
What? I mean while kissing or feeding... What did you think? YOU are the perv! ;p
Merit Seto
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
Love when mr German man is in videos with you!
blue raspberries don't exist right
Not really!
Rubus leucodermis (the fruit is blue/black, kinda like a blackberry, still, it's named raspberry).
I might add: blackberry and raspberry are both from the rubus genus and thus quite similiar anyway.
Karl Ranseier In german it must be Brombeere!?
Tootsie Rolls are like chocolate taffy/fudge hybrid. YES! Pop-Rocks and Nerds!
mr germany gets diabetes
could also be a title for video.
beside fireballs, that peanut-butter stuff and cotton candy flavor we also have everything in germany (maybe not the exact same brands, but the same type of candies)..
these sprays i also had a lot on some small stores were we tried to go between classes in school ;)
the soft and caramel-like ones you often get on "karneval/fasching" or even you find most of them in aldi or other supermarkets.
those pop rocks i often took from a gas station near by my parents house. they were called different (something with space/alien theme if i remember right) and ofc not with cotton candy flavor but with something i can't even describe.. maybe it was called like "bubblegum flavor"?!
so yeah.. i tried a lot of these but none of them really became a favorite.
we did challenges with "center shocks" (but i'm pretty sure they were much more sour than they are these days).
my personal favorites were and will always be: mixed stuff from haribo, everything from kinder - especially "kinder schoko bons" - and different types of bubblegum :-)
Such a cute video! German man seems so sweet and has a great personality. He's pretty easy on the eyes, too. ☺
i tried american candy once... too sweet for me. everything american is just sugar and color with a slight slight slight bit of actual flavour.
There is some candy that's better than others. But, yes, candy is sugar. That's what it is: sugary treats.
I introduced my german friends to Warheads... they LOVED them!
Reese's should be peeled and deconstructed with your teeth, slowly. All chocolate and then a solid hit of peanut butter. And then do the other half.
You missed two things. Butterfingers and frozen Charleston Chew shattered into pieces. Three. Lemonheads.
Omg the first two and the spray we had as well. The memories are all coming back omg. :D
The only American candy I've ever had was candy corn, and it was horrible!
FearGFX I've always thought those taste kinda like wax with a little sugar in it - some people like it, though... Sorry it was your only American candy experience :(
FearGFX Right. It's not popular...only traditional during October.

YAAAYY!!! MR GERMAN MAN IN A VIDEO!
I loved this video!

No.
Pixie sticks are called "Schleckpulver Stangen" in Germany. I remember the stick being see-through and the sugary stuff coloured in rainbow colour (looked like a "rainbow stick")
Your quirky personality is super annoying to me but somehow i can't stop myself from watching
Nikola Marić wow just wow. Spread the hate, why don't you?! She is a real person and probably reading this. You do know this, right?
