Just saw this game at my game store yesterday and bought it on impulse. This is a really great playthrough (watched it and the follow on link, too. Read the rules after these videos and I feel like I have a complete understanding of how to play, so thanks! Honestly, this is the first time I've gone to UA-cam after buying a board game to get a feel for how to play the game rather than just reading the rules, and it's going to be my go to practice from now on after this video. I think I'm going to go back through my shelf of games that I've rarely played and do the same. Thanks!
Jon, @12:20 After moving through the Zephyr, you had used all of your Ship movement points, but could you have used the wind to free move toward the Trading Post, or did you stop movement because you have no Ship moves left?
Nice Jon, every time you nail it. I’m looking forward to the rest of the playthrough. I believe you deliberately had to demonstrate the full rules, and each of the three players had to show a different mechanism in their first moves. Looking forward to how this is going to play out.
Jon, FYI when I searched for this video on UA-cam, I couldn't find it. I ended up only getting here through the Kickstarter page. I expect you'll get more visibility if this video can be found directly through a UA-cam search or from your channel.
Huh, that's strange to hear. It shows up on my homepage when I check there, and the "post to subscribers subscriptions feeds" button is turned on. I hope this is a momentary issue.
Boy, do the expansions really mix things up. We played with all at once, and it was frustratingly crazy. Once the White Crestor gets near the center of the board, it can be almost impossible to make progress unless you are in a fortuitous position. Thank you for the introduction.
looks nice, although my concern is this is going to be a bit tedious with all that management. Looks like a lot of downtime for players if they will have to wait so long for other players to complete all of their actions. How quick turns go?
Unfortunately I can't really speak to this because this playthrough was my only play of the game and obviously the recording environment is nothing like actually playing the game with other people.
If you explain every move of any game it will seem tedious, my guess is it goes much more quickly when most of these moves just happen without explanation once you know the game well enough
Great rule explanation. With this back on Kickstarter, with an expansion, was interested in seeing how it played. I like what I saw, but not sure about kill space whales. I just keep thinking of Star Trek IV. At least one of the factions can be scientific researchers and save the space whales.
Nope. This is thankfully a decent paced tutorial without time wasting. Speech is swift but nothing distracting. If you want it slower just turn down the speed
John: "we're fighting Crestors, and they don't have cannons."
Dr Evil: "I want Crestors with frickin' cannons on their heads!"

I'm so glad you found this video helpful :) I hope that you enjoy the game!
Excellent video, clear and concise narration. The notes on times for specific rules in the video is really nice
This was one of the best tutorial videos I have seen. You explained everything well and concisely. Thank you!
Thanks!
Best rules explanation video here.
Thanks a lot.
I LOVE this game! Missed the expansion kickstarter. Really hoping that will go up for sale, its a must have.
Thank you for the tutorial!!! Very good.
I'd like to see more of this game. Looks intriguing.

This game looks very finicky at first but I bet it is really smooth and has great decisions once you're finally comfortable

When I searched "windward board game" in youtube, this video was the third result.
It shows up for me now. Go figure.
At the end of the first turn, could you not of used the wind direction to get yourself one space away from the port?
Unfortunately, it's been too long since I made this video to remember specifics like this regarding how the game plays.
Anyone know if this game would be worth getting if you’re only ever going to play 2-player?
I’ve played it with 2 players and it was quite fun. There’s a smaller map printed on the back.
You could even play this solo! There is a single player mode
To add to what others have said - there is also a coop play style as well. It's a very versatile board game, especially for the price it is going for.
anyone has received any update on when the game will be delivered ? are they on track for delivery early June ?
It's available in Barnes and Nobles stores, as a BN exclusive. I just picked up my copy yesterday.

How did red player hire crew? doesnt it cost gas?
So any idea how you get notoriety?
Thanks for the video because 30% of the rules are missing in the printed playbook
Anybody know what the supply card "Coffee" do? It says +1 action but you can take as many actions as you can, right?
It's in the video, you get an extra crewmate
I bet that Crestor’s teeth is nice and shiny
Or he has really low cholesterol levels

I do feel like turns are gonna get faster in a real game because he's mostly explaining every single one of his steps.

Space pirated with whale hunting. Sounds like a great time!
Wish the ships had balloons and it wasn’t so magicy
Narh man. The sails gives it a Treasure Planet vibe

I believe it's pronounced and spelled "crester" not "crestor".
The KS surpassed its target.,..
Thank you, just got my big box edition, and my god the rulebook is trash.
Did the give you a minimum number of words per minute? Do you ever breath? A bit more relaxed and paced speach will be appreciated.
