This game has some really clever systems. I would have to play it to say for sure but it seems like a game that you wouldn’t be able to noodle your way through and win. The programming aspect of the action board coupled with the variability that the different strengths introduce is VERY clever! Another great play through JGG’s.

Thanks for the vod, I liked this game. A lot. And it's very unusual for me to like worker placement games nowadays.

Great video as always. Did you forget to describe the 2nd bonus action at 11:22 ? Went from 1st to 3rd..

This game seems very smart, thanks for adding it to my list of games to look out for! (My wallet doesn't appreciate though😁)

A great looking game and looks like fun. The questions I have are what are the advantages/disadvantages of leaving resources on the dock? Also what happens when you convert another player's rebel? Is it removed from the game or does it go back to the other player?

Unfortunately it has been too long since I made this video for me to remember the specifics enough to answer these questions. I'd suggest reading the rules that are provided online and/or asking these questions at the boardgamegeek.com forum for the game.

Heard a bit about this game, but never played it. How do you think it compare to Scythe?
If a person as Scythe would getting Rurik sort of be redundant? I mean, scratch the same itch?

They are similar in that they have area control mechanics while not being all about said area control, but beyond that they are significantly different I think. Rurik feels more like a worker placement programing game whereas Scythe felt like an asymmetric resource/building game.

@@JonGetsGames Thank YOU for the in-depth reply. Sounds like Scythe is a better fit for me.

Good video as usual, but this game seems dry overall.

Beautiful game, but poor rules. I think I buy it and re-design the rules. Lockup too is nice, but its rules sucks (you control nothing) !

At the period when the events happens what's the name of the cities? The cities where controlled by who? ( It's not a rhetorical question, it's a serious one and i don''t know the answer, i think the correct would be the original name by who was controlling the cities at that time )

The designer brought this up on a forum and he said historically, there are many different spellings and pronunciations, so they went with the ones that were more familiar to English-speaking people. Hope this helps dry your tears a bit.
