Victoria I did it! I manage to make my voice resonate in my sinuses (no nasality, I checked it with blocking my nose - no sound change) and my voice was not only ringing but it sounded sooo loud, without any extra effort and with no screaming :) and I was told that I sing too quietly, and now I know what to do :) Thank you much! Your advices really work, and work so quickly :)
Wow, I always wondered how I was able to sing so freely on my "ah" vowel and not on any other vowel. Turns out this video helped me correct the shaping of the inside of my throat so that I would apply my natural vibrato to any of the vowels I sing. When I was younger (when I was about 10) I never wanted to sing vibrato because I thought it was a cop out on being able to sing in tune. Me being absolutely obsessed with the in tuneness of my notes drastically increased my ability to pitch match, but it was at the cost of healthy vocal techniques. I learned later on that there was such thing as a natural vibrato that occurs when you are singing with healthy vocal technique, and for the last 3 years, I've been trying to find ways that could help me improve. 7 months ago was about the time I began actually making improvements, and I'm happy to say that I finally *feel* like I'm making genuine progress thanks to Victoria's videos (which I began watching not even a month ago). I want to take high quality vocal lessons so that I can more fully understand and apply to my own singing the pedagogies that are being used, and in turn to share with other people what I learned. But until then, I want to thank you Victoria for the wonderful video!
Look up an isolated vocal track of Willie Nelson's You Were Always On My Mind, and then play it on really good speakers if you can, and get the Vocal Pitch Monitor app on your phone and record it. If you're not familiar with the app, it's basically a staff of endless pitch that scrolls past, and the tones being recorded are represented by a yellow line. A guitar string gives a perfectly flat line on the app. An accurate singer, like Robert Plant, will come in on those lines like amazing. Willie Nelson does too -- with but with a vibrato that goes like a minor third in width, unless I'm exaggerating and it's only a major second. It's really amazing to see and then to connect the sound with what it looks like.
Beautiful! Your last demonstration of the soprano operatic voice was stunning! I wanted it to last much longer. Thank you for the generosity of your time. 🙂
I haven't sang for an audience in 22 years. You make me miss those days when chorus and drama were everything. There is something different and fun about people who teach the arts that I can't quite quantify. I bet you are a joy in person as well. ❤
Wow, this video came at the right time. I was thinking of this whole day. My voice is missing the ring. I'm definitely putting this to my practice regime.
Listening to your demonstrations of your instructions, made me realize all the things I have done through the years that were improving my singing voice. Your videos are a boom for anyone trying to better their voice. Thank you so much!
Hi, Victoria! I just wanted to tell you a big THANK YOU for all you do! You provide such easily accessible, high-quality videos that have been immensely helpful to me as an intermediate. I can hear the difference and I am so happy with my progress! I bought your program because I wanted to support the amazing work that you do, thank you again!
Definitely looking forward to getting your singing program soon. Highly impressed with all the videos I've seen so far. And they've helped a lot. I mean, this video is the first time I've seen anyone teaching how to hum properly and what it's supposed to feel like. Think most online teachers just presume everyone can hum properly lol.
@@Victoria-Victorious Thank you for the content. Such good information. I'll finally start studying music this year (main focus on choir music, theory, harmony, voice and even conducting). Getting formal and constant education for the first time in 26 years, even if something a bit lighter, which leaves me time for a job and other activities. Career or not, I just love music. The more I understand what I'm doing and what I need to to next, the better.
Who else here has a very difficult time with scales? I have been singing a year and a half and can memorize melodies and lyrics to literally dozens of folk songs, but heaven help me, I cannot remember a scale to save my life. I can play scales on an app several times in a row and still not mentally retain what I've just heard. I could hit each each scale note a few at a time, but I can't recite from memory. Only the 5 tone scale is attainable for me memory wise.
I recommend just taking parts of your song and making them into exercises. Some people just relate better to lines in their song, but you can still train by making parts into exercises!
Or coming up with words for the scale so that you memorize it like a song. Being a musician is half about hacking a very active brain into doing seemingly impossible things.
Thank you, your series is very helpful especially a novice, I am a guitar player who has to now sing! Looking forward to the next video. Keep them coming!
You are a master. Thank you for sharing. God bless you. Would you define “ring” as being super on key and adding vibrato softly and in a relaxed manner?
I really enjoy these lessons and youve helped me sing much more clear and my throat hurts 90% less but i seem to have lost a lot of the bass in my voice. Not sure what im doing wrong. Anyway thank you!
Kamusta at salamat ! Sorry, but I do not have a free online class. However, my group classes to members of my audio training program are very reasonably priced! 😊
Being from the Philippines but not able to sing is beyond horrible. I watch both yours and cheryl porter's videos but still not improving, i'm hopeless 🤣

HOW EXCITING! Singing with ring is amazing! I’m happy for you! Keep it up and thank you for letting us know!
I remember reading an article about Whitney Houston and how are voice rings. A bell like sound and how powerful it resonates.

No, ring is upper resonance. Singing in tune and adding vibrato are not ring, but of course, things we want! See my playlist on resonance.
