Yep another great video, Dave. My soil is clay in Switzerland and having got the thatch and moss under control with scarifying I do break up the cores after hollow tining using the scarifier. Works well if they have dried sufficiently. Like the Camon LA25 review - will buy one when I’m back in the UK in summer. Have a great Easter.
Another great video , good idea on hiring the machine out to people you trust.
very informative thanks.
Thank you! 😎
. Good job, thanks for the video. got a lawn to do . Done a bit of scarifying/dethatching in the past and found useless using the collecting bag and quicker to run mower over on a high setting to pick up loose thatch/dead moss. have you tried picking up the earth cores using a rotary mower and grass box? cheers
Another great bit of info 👍🏻
Thank you Keith
Hope you're having fun with yours!
I just ordered the thicker tines to. 15mm
@@krs24976 you k ow it makes sense 😎
Hi lawn guy . I've just moved to a house with a beautiful mature garden though slightly neglected over last few years . The ground is bare and hard as rock in some places , do I use the hollow tine then put a light topsoil over the bare areas and reseed ?
Great video and you seem very professional 👍🏻
Hi Dave as a rough guide would you price this up around 3x the cost of mowing the lawn?
Hi mate, great video! Just wondering how much of a pain this is in the wet? Thanks
Adam Stephenson I can only imagine its awful Lol
like scarifying I only do it in the dry, if it too wet the cores can’t grip the inside of the tine and stay in the ground!
Thanks for watching! 😎
Another great video from the Lawnguy. Why use Hallow tine instead of solid. ....?
Please can you advise me on the question I asked about scarifying. ..kind regards
The big difference is that with hollow tines your relieving compaction, removing thatch, moss, Weeds and poor soil, as well as all the other benefits solid tines give you!
What was your other question on scarifying?
Found it!
Yes you want to cut the lawn before you scarify but not too much that you scalp or damage the grass as scarifying will stress it out enough!
Hi Dave, Is it a problem for the lawn to be aerated in Winter as opposed to the recommended Autumn or Spring aeration?
Hi Mark,
Its fine to areate but you have to moniter the weather more closely to find that perfect window of opportunity.
I did make a video on this a couple of years ago, hope it helps.

When walking behind the aerator, how do you avoid stepping on the plugs and mashing them back onto the lawn?
Unless you have tiny little feet you don't. Which is standard with all brands of this type of aerator.
Hi fella cheers for the video but a question.
How come you didn't back fill with lawn sand or good quality topsoil? Are you not opening up the ground to diseases?
Michael Hubbard
Hi Michael to be clear “lawn sand” is only used to kill moss, but the reason for not top-dressing is simply due to the fact that the client is paying, so all you can do is advise!
Also in the video I mention that the client is feeding the lawn himself, that will help the lawn recover from any stress the lawn was put under during the process
Hope this helps.
To cover this with a decent top dressing would be hugely expensive
You should pick urself up a walk behind swipper buddy save urself big time
