Keep in mind that when you shrink-wrap your items, you can put more into your boxes. HOWEVER, the boxes could end up being a lot heavier BECAUSE you can put in more items since they are shrunk-wrapped. Just something to keep in mind. 😊

As someone who lived in Korea for years, i absolutely understand her!! One bit of advice, most people will be so shocked and excited if they hear her speak Japanese. The judging is purely in our heads. They are judging themselves for English at the same time! It is so tough and scary, but most people overseas are super, super nice.

On the tiny chance that Adam or his friend in Japan see this:
I had a friend who did something very similar (learning Japanese and went away for a year for school). They were terrified and it was a huge learning curve.
Fast forward to their last week and they didn’t want to leave. They were sad to be leaving because they came to love it so much!
Hopefully it’s the same outcome 🥰

I'm glad you're okay after the seagull attack! The best advice I have for moving is to pack everything you'll need immediately before AND after the move into suitcases - clothes, medications, hygiene items, etc. That way you can safely pack everything else into boxes and won't be hunting for the items you might need right away. In this case, maybe pick a few outfits you're okay with repeating, and pack everything else up. You can wash and wear what you've kept out (and take it with you in your luggage) and know that the rest of it is ready to go. Good luck!

If you have resealable vacuum bags, it might be worth the extra work to seal and pack all your clothes so you know the exact number of boxes. Just make sure your most often worn stuff is in the same box, then unseal those and wear up until you move. Then you can reseal those right before they come pick up your stuff.

I’ve found the best way to avoid embarrassment in situations like this is to find the humor in it and laugh with the people around you. Yesterday I was outside in a patio area with a lot of people around and when I stood up I managed to knock over the long bench I was sitting on which made a LOUD noise and startled everyone around me. I just laughed and to the crowd was like I’m so sorry, we’re all fine, I’m just clumsy 😂😂😂 in the past I would have been so embarrassed but I was just pretty entertained by the situation.

As someone who has been forced to move almost 40 times in their life (not hyperbole - I counted once when I was garda vetted for my kids' school), I would wait until 2-3 weeks before you move, then pick out a week's worth of clothing plus a few extra, put them in a travel bag and seal the rest. It's not ideal of feeling fancy, but if we're talking about practicality, you just need utility right now while you go through the moving stress. Just ensure that you have an extra fit for when you need to wash them so you're not there in yer shorts waiting for a load to finish. Basically I'd treat it like an away trip - ie packing a bag for a week-long trip abroad.

Sending well wishes to your friend in Japan, I hope she finds lots of good friends and her year in Japan is wonderful! I hope your head feels better soon from the sea gull attack, I lived in San Francisco for a lot of years and we had the same issue but at least you only got a few weeks to deal with them. I would suggest maybe keep a week or so worth of clothing out and just pack away the rest of your clothing, it'll be less stressful the closer it gets for you to move so when the day comes you won't have much you gotta actually pack but do what's best for you. My husband and I really enjoy all your content and stop everything to watch you and love all your furry babies! Much love from WA. :D

I've never moved by myself before, but what I would do for the clothes would be keep out a few outfits that you really like/are comfy and pack all the rest of your clothes up, and then once you start moving you can put whatever outfits you dont have packed in a bag or a suitcase and take that with you and carry and dont have to pack away so you can get the moving company thing all sorted out. Hope that helps or gives you some more ideas! I love your videos and sorry about the seagull lmao

My advice on the clothes is vacuum everything you know you won't be wearing ASAP. Then think of all the "going out" things you will be doing between now & the move and set those aside. Then get the clothes you can fit into a single suitcase, that you wear on the regular. Vacuum all the rest & just wash the clothes in the suit case as needed. And then when the move comes, the clothes in the suitcase are "already packed" & the "going out" can either be stuffed in or tossed into a bag of some sort.

    Hi!
I get the stress that comes with moving, had to go through it 3 years ago and also going through something similar right now. I feel like the smartest idea would be for you to pack your clothes at least a week before you have to move and leave out 2 or 3 outfits you're going to be wearing. You can then put them into a backpack whenever they get dirty or when you have to move so you don't need any more bags or boxes. Wish you all the best and crossing fingers your move goes smoothly, love you🌟

I would pack a suitcase or big overnight bag with some key clothing pieces you can mix and match and pajamas and any other basics like socks and underwear for a few days worth. Also pack in this bag you essential toiletries/ daily use items etc. You can wear the items youve packed in this bag and wash them as needed and pack literally everything else. Since you have toiletries in the bag you can also use this bag for your travel in between moving and when you leave for Manchester after the movers have taken your main things. I hope this makes sense.

  • @Clauskzii
    @Clauskzii 9 місяців тому

Hey Adam! When it comes to packing your clothes and stuff you could start to go through some clothing items you know you don't wear often and start to pack those! Then that way you're at least packing some of the clothes away and maybe then you'll feel a bit less stressed? If that idea doesn't suit you then I'd say maybe like a week or two before the move start packing your clothes. Plan out what clothes you'll wear for the last week ahead of time and just keep those out, put them in a bag or something that you could quickly pack away on your final day. Moving is sooo stressful so totally sympathize with you and you got this

I’m moving first week of November, outside of work I really don’t go out and do a ton so I don’t need a ton of clothes out. I went through a ton and donated, but I only kept out 4-5 of each: favorite tshirts, favorite cute shirts, and sweater/sweatshirts. That way a couple days before I move the rest that’s hanging up can easily fit in a small box or trash bag or can be put in my car and driven (separate from the moving van)

Keep one suitcase of comfy and one decent outfit and a hoodie and pack the rest in the last week. Make outfits for the days and some backups for change of weather. Layering is best and most space economical. Keep one box with what you need first when you move in. Label the boxes with numbers and keep a list of what’s in them by number on a piece of paper or in your phone. First to unpack is towels, shower stuff, some paper plates and silverware, and a water bottle, toilet paper and a bath mat. In suitcase keep your clothes, one towel and flannel, comfy clothes for working on unpacking. Dish soap and sponge and towel for kitchen and garbage bags. The rest will sort itself out. Try to not freak out. It will all happen and you will have ages to unpack. Just be sure you have what you need for the days you are moving. Each day keep a tank top, tee, hoodie and underwear/socksand a bag with your shower stuff and tooth stuff. If you put on the boxes what room each box goes in it willl be easier also and list by number and the actual contents of the boxes by the number in your list. Use a sharpie marker and get a tape gun and roll tape to seal the boxes. Packing paper for dishes if you didn’t do them already and def stop buying stuff for now so you have less to pack. You are having your dogs cared for when you move in or no? If not keep a backpack with their food bowls, water bowl, food, a couple toys and their beds or a blanket they can lay on plus harness or collars and leashes with poop bags loaded. When you arrive get the loo roll in, paper plates cups and paper towels set up and a garbage bag and set up your bed and shower for bathing and dog stuff. I moved not long ago and it was a b word and a half so I feel for ya. You will be too tired to get too dressed up so just pack comfy clothes for that couple of days of serious transition. You’ve got this, Adam. It’s super unnerving but I look forward to seeing your new and safer feeling Apartment. Eat, drink water, sleep enough and take small sanity breaks minus the seagull attacks. Lol. So funny and you sound like me with the social awkwardness of something like that happening alone. The seagulls are just seeing you off with one last dinner steal! Lol. So much for zenning out.

clothes were the last thing i packed but i recommend packing a suitcase with a few days worth of outfits and vacuum sealing tbe rest so that you have a better idea of how much space your clothes take up with enough time for the movers to be arranged

Haven't been to Japan yet - how do people treat people who learning Japanese or trying to perfect their Japanese? In most countries that I have been to (and I speak a few languages), most people are thrilled that you are trying and are very nice. I wouldn't worry about making mistakes if most people are kind about it. Making mistakes is also a good way to learn!

my other jokey comment aside, as much as i love birds they make me so nervous!! this would definitely scare me and throw me off for a bit, so i hope your head doesn’t hurt too bad and you’re able to shrug this off a bit!! 🥺🩵

32:53 sorry for all the comments! My advice from someone who has moved ALOT! Pack majority of your clothes now! Find things you want but won’t need to wear and pack those first and then go through clothes you want/think you would wear for the remainder and leave those out and then when you way closer to the move date, pack those clothes, leaving only a few outfits to where, I may put those in a separate bag! Hope that makes sense😂

My advice for the clothes situation is set aside and plan clothes for the last 7-14 days / 1-2 weeks before the move,, so you have ample time to let the driver know and vacuum seal the bags and still have clothes to wear the rest of the time that you can throw in a backpack before the move!

ALSO! vacuum pack things like heavy sweaters or clothes out of season or that you know for sure you won't wear for the next 7, 14, 21 days left before the move

LOL. I’m American, and my boyfriend is also from the UK, and he would tell me stories about how seagulls are such bullies. Particularly the ones from Blackpool he says too. I have seen lots of seagulls when I visited a few times, but yet have to encounter a seagull who steals my food 😬

I wouldn't worry too much about counting boxes. It's just to work out whether it will be a small or medium van. If you won't be moving furniture you'll probably only need a small van, maybe even a transit van. I'd vac-pack things like chunky knits, but be careful with things that wrinkle easily or you'll be spending a lot of time ironing in Manchester.

When I was in school we spent an english week in Brighton and no joke, we had no idea how aggressive the seagulls were and my friend bought something to eat and also got attacked. So I kind of feel you 😂😬

My thought is that you keep a week or 2 worth of clothes/things out (whatever fits in your usual suitcase) and pack everything else. Live out of a suitcase like you would when you are travelling and take that with you on the day so that the day that you move you at least know where some clothes that you want to wear are. Would suggest that you do the same for a couple of the pets favourite toys and pack up the rest.

I would go ahead and pack a suitcase so you get an idea of how many clothes you can fit in there and then pack everything else into boxes. Just keep in mind any events you may have coming up that you may want something specific (like the hyper-pop night you were talking about). Then you can just wash the clothes you have and wear them over and know that you’ll have plenty of clothes when you move into the new place before the movers come! Don’t stress. You are so far ahead of me any time I’ve had a move before! Lol

Well a good way to prepare for moving is packing perhaps a box or two a day; you should pack up the clothes you know you won't be wearing, and remember with clothes, condensed is heavier - it may be better to pack heavier things like jeans without compressing. ❤❤ You will do great! Also, remember in finding Nemo when all the seagulls were like "mine! Mine! Mine!" everytime I hear a seagull I think of that! It's probably good that you didn't buy a bunch of seagull stuff for 'memories' huh? Lol❤❤❤
